Thefirstschoolswereoriginallymaleonlyschools.Femaleswerenotallowedtogoto
schoolandreceiveaneducation,thusunintentionallycreatingsinglesexschools.Theseschools
havebecomeincreasinglypopularintheUnitedStates
.
Singlesexschoolsprovidestudentswith
uniqueexperiencesandnontraditionalteachingmethods,qualitiesthatareveryappealing
.
At
singlesexschools,studentsaregiventhechancetomatureintoyoungadultswithouttheadded
pressuresofbeingjudgedbytheirpeersorimpressingtheoppositesex
.
Singlesexschoolsare
beneficialbecausestudentswillbreakgenderstereotypes,willfeelmorecomfortableintheir
learningenvironment,andwillnothavetoworryabouttheteachermovingtooslowforthem
.
Oneofthemainbenefitsofsinglesexschoolsisthelackofgenderstereotypes

donothavetoworryaboutbeingjudgedfordoingsomethingthatmaytypicallybedonebythe
oppositesex

Althoughsomepeoplebelievethatsinglesexschoolsarebestthereareotherswhowould
disagreeandarguethatcoedschoolsarebetter.Somepeoplethinkthatcoedschoolsisthe
bestthingforkidsanditmaybe,butitalldependsonwhatkindofpersontheyareandmost
importantlywhatkindoflearnertheyare.Thereareafewthingscoedschoolsdodifferently
thansinglesexschools.Coedschoolsofferamorediversecurriculumtogetstudentstoexplore
abroadrangeoflearningopportunities.Itcanalsoopenupalargerrangeofextracurricular
activitiessuchassports,choir,theatreanddifferenttypesofclubs.
Goingtoaschoolwithouttheoppositesexwillkeepstudentsfocusedandallowthemto
shineintheiracademics
.
Overall,thebenefitsofsinglesexschoolsgreatlyoutweighthoseof
coedschools,andstudentsshouldwelcometheideaoflearninginanontraditionalenvironment
.
