Philosphy of Classroom Management

Some people say that being a teacher is an easy job. All you have to do is being in front
of a lot of students and teach topics that you may have already taught. Nonetheless, they do not
realize that teaching can be one of the most difficult and important jobs. On one hand, teachers
not only teach content but also values tha can last forever. Teachers diversify their curriculum
and instruction to meet the personal and individual needs of every student. They even try to learn
other languages in order to be able to provide authentic knowledge to their students.
Furthermore, they try to learn new ways to teach content in different ways. On the other hand,
being a teacher is one of the most important jobs in the world. Without teachers, we would not
have doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, etc. How would we be able to learn other languages
without teachers? Being a teacher is indeed an important job which lead to the success of others.
Nonetheless, for being able to be a good teacher, you need to build a positive climate in your
classroom that can accomplish the class objectives, discipline, and coperative work.
I was raised and born in a strict family that valued education a lot. For my parents, in
order to be successful, you need to be a disciplined and hard-working student. Because I was
raised that way, I think these are the types of values that I would expect from my students. I am
the kind of teacher that works very hard to take students to the next level. It does not matter if
students have different cognitive skills, I will expect the same from every student. I will try to
implement a student-centered classroom in which students not only get knowledge from the
teacher but also from one another (Freiberg). This will not only improve the relationship
between teacher and student but also the interaction among students. It will show the students

that learning is not focused on the teacher but on students, and that I really care fore them
(Freiberg) . Finally, I will modify my teaching material in order to address every single student
and try to make them succeed.
In order for me to be a good teacher and make my students succeed, I will have to follow
or implement several classroom management techniques. First of all, in oder to have a good
learning environment, I will teach my students my rules and expectations for the class. For this
step, I will try to involve them as mush as possible in order for them to clearly understand what
they are supposed or not allowed to do during my class. For instance, I would even try to make
them do roleplays so they can see the consequences for not abiding by my rules. I will follow
Lee and Marlene Canter model of assertive discipline in order for them to know that I am the one
in charge of the class. I will clearly place limits on the consequences for students misbehavior.
And if they get to break any rule, I will make them know that they own the problem and need to
change their misbehavior (Gordon). It is essential for me to deal with the misbehavior as soon as
possible by reinforcing responsible behavior in the disruptive students (Jones). Furthermore, I
will use rewards that motivate students to behave properly (Lee and Canter). For example, I can
give students the opportunity to perform their favorite activeties if they finish their assignments
early (Jones). Notwithstanding, I will use rewards carefully. I dont want them to think about
rewards as their only source of motivation (Dreikurs).
I know that sometimes I will have to deal with different kind of misbahvior. Nevertheless,
I will try to prevent that by talking to students, having an idea of the reasons for their
misbehavior, trying to work with them to generate possible solutions to solve the problems
together (Gordon). Besides, I will monitor my students progress in and outside the classroom. I
will arrange the seating arrangement from the very beginning of the year. This will give students

the opportunity to meet new people and improve the relationship among them. I know it will
not be an easy job. But by following these classroom management techniques, I will be able to
keep my students accountable for their learning, create a positive learning environment, and
reach the goal of making students succeed.
