The course would enable the students to understand the position of a sovereign state at an international platform by playing individualistic role and by being
part of international organizations. Hereby students would equip themselves with various theories in relation to International Law and Municipal Law. Besides
that the course would also help them understand the dynamics of international relations in International Law with respect to state recognition and other factors.
It would help students analyze the role of various sources of Public International Law.The role played by UNO is also analysed..

Student Learning Outcomes:

Demonstrate knowledge about the conduct of sovereign states as analogous entities and as a part of intergovernmental organizations.
Evaluate effect of Public International Law on multinational corporations and individuals
Analyze legal issues and propose solutions to legal problems which arise in relation to relationship between states..
Students should gain a reasonably advanced understanding of the role played by connecting factors in Public International Law
Attain knowledge on usage and development of various sources of Public International Law

Theories of Relationship, State Practices regarding Relationship and Subjects of
International Law
Module 3 : State Recognition
Recognition of states, Recognition of governments, De facto and De jure Recognition, Types of Recognition, Withdrawal
of Recognition, The legal effects of recognition

Module 4: Law Of The Sea

First and Second Law of the Sea Conventions: Third Law of the Sea Convention {UNCLOS III (United Nations Convention on the Law of
The Sea), Maritime Zones; Territorial Waters, Contiguous Zone, Exclusive Economic Zone, Continental Shelf High Seas; Sea Bed
Authority, Deep Sea Bed Mining and International Sea Bed Area. Decisions by the International Tribunal for Law of Seas.
