Hiring Committee
Dear Sir/Madam,
It is with great eagerness that I am applying for the position of Assistant
Principal with your school. I currently hold a M.Ed. in Educational
Technology along with a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate for
Elementary 1-6. I am also presently enrolled in a Ph.D. Program at Notre
Dame of Maryland University as well as the Administration Certification
Program at Loyola University of Maryland, the latter of which I will complete
in May of 2016. With almost 5 years of leadership experience and over 15
years of hands-on teaching experience, 8 of which I spent working in an
Expeditionary Learning School, I am confident that I possess the
qualifications and experience your school needs to promote its philosophy
and goals.
As the attached resume will highlight, I am currently an Administrative
Intern at Southwest Baltimore Charter School and was a Grade Level Cluster
leader at St. Andrew Preparatory School, where I have completed a number
of leadership related activities. These opportunities have enabled me to
develop strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership
skills, which have allowed me to assist in cultivating a supportive learning
environment while reinforcing the schools standards, policies, and goals.
My greatest strengths include, but are not limited to; time management,
organization, teacher mentoring, curriculum design and improvement,
standardized testing, and program management and coordinating.
Furthermore, I am adept at fostering strong working relationships with all
members of a school community.
My vision in the role of Assistant Principal is to aspire to establish a school
culture complimentary to the current educational program that is conducive
to continued pride in student learning, achievement and socialization. I seek
to promote staff professional growth and development, as well as teamwork
and corporation in the development of school pride for students. I hope to

coordinate my efforts with those of the entire school leadership team, staff,
parents and family members to ensure students remain disciplined and
focused and receive appropriate attention to meet their varied needs, while
adhering to the values and NORMS of the school.
I strongly believe that the skills and experience I have gained from twelve
years of teaching as well as developing curricula and working in an
expeditionary learning environment will be beneficial to your institution.
I appreciate your time and consideration in reviewing my application and can
be contacted to further discuss my experience and qualifications at
igordontoppin@gmail.com or 410-818-6901 (cell).
Sincerely,
Iffeisha Gordon-Toppin.
