How/why did you choose your topic?

The 1920s commenced a new era for women. After the ratification of the 19th amendment,
which conferred women with the right to vote, the quest for political, social, and economic
equality was the optimum goal for women everywhere. The social advancements that occurred
within the 1920s opened many doors for women within that era and it also opened doors for
women in the future.

Where did you find most of your research?

The library of congress was able to provide a variety of extensive resources, all ranging from old
newspapers, pictures, sacred texts and documents etc. We were also able to include many high
multimedia sources from websites like History and Womens History. These websites were very
useful mainly because of the type of information they presented. The information written and
displayed upon all these sites were very thorough and concise, their videos were high definition
allowing for a clear and crisp view of all the historical details within their videos, and their
documented primary sources such as the 19th amendment where very useful in terms of providing
evidence for the historical events in which we discuss within our site.

How We Selected Our Presentation Category and Created the Project:

The presentation format we chose for this year was the website format. We felt that the website
was a better, more technologically advanced way of portraying our topic and giving it more life.
Using the website format, we took a lot of factors into consideration, we wanted to present good
information-but we also wanted it to be interesting and captivating. We had to think about color
schemes that would easily integrate into our theme/topic, we had to find music and other
multimedia sources that would really portray the information we were presenting, in a clearconcise manner so the audience could really grasp the concepts.

How My Project Relates to the NHD Theme:

Our theme relates to the NHD theme of Exploration, Encounter, and Exchange in History
because women were able to explore their rights, encounter a new profound concept they were
never exposed to (freedom/change), and they began to exchange their insight and rally others to
share and understand how vital the freedom and ideas of women would prove to be a necessary
component in a aiding America becoming a successful nation.
