Amongst
all the species in nature, humans are a special innovation of creation. Human
nature is to rejoice forever.
Natures influence on man is immense and sometimes takes him into delusion. For
instance, if the quantum of joy obtained is anything less than expected, it would be
unacceptable and instead of rejoicing, it is perceived as sorrow. Thus, his own nature has
created agony to himself. To overcome such a situation one has to be disciplined, observe
restraint, be contended with what is available and over all have control over mind.
Guru always guides and protects his devotees. He grants all accomplishments promptly,
without even asking him for them. Sri Guru Charitra Parayana is one of the best medicines,
treats and solutions to all problems.

Prarabdha karma is very powerful. Guru is a great source to get us easily out of Prarabdha. He is
the dissolver. Even the wise must undergo it to extinguish it. There it ends.
Sri Guru Charitra has a special location in my mind for over two centuries. Sri Guru
lotus padukas are embedded in the heart. My urge of self motivated desire to write, started
at young age and this holy small booklet, in many versions, mini, small, moderate and of
prayer size is for the benefit of busy devotees. With the motto of small size, true
substance, real taste and maximum phalam - to optimize the readers time, several attempts
have been made to present Sri Guru Charitra. This is one of those.
It is believed that Sri Hanuman Chalisa parayana is equal to Sri Sundara Kanda parayana.
Both are said to grant same fruit. By Sri Gurus grace, on reading this short version of Sri
Guru Charitra, the devotee would benefit with similar fruits to that of the original..One
should have no doubt.
Kindly perceive the essence - the basic principle of Sri Guru Charitra. Sri Guru is
supreme - the guide - director and protector of mankind. Man is one amongst the billions of
living creatures struggling for existence on the earth. It is a stream of unending chain of
perennial struggles for numerous generations without peace. He wants some one to save
him from this ocean. Guru is that who saves. This is the holy story of that Guru.
Deviation in stories, in the absence of the truly original is not intentional but natural.
Essence of the story is important and restored. Devotion to the subject is the essential
requirement. Marathi, Kannada, English and Telugu are all different languages in script and
sound. The language of the heart is inherent and final. In whatever speech, language, script
and presentation one does / makes, Guru is kind to respond. He is the reader of hearts and
seer of all deeds.
Everyone has to pass through the gates of Karma and enter the premises of Guru
ashram. There in, all aspire for Guru darshan? Is it easy? No.
The whole subject of Sri Guru Charitra is based on the search for Sri Guru (paduka
darshan) by Namadharaka. It was not easy.
When God refuses: what to do?
When God does not answer to our prayers, (even if God refuses) if we put them through
Guru, one gets the answer - How? Guru would talk to God to take charge of the matters and
protect us - This is an exception.
When we pray to Sri Guru for blessing, He sees understands and protects us. He talks to
God on our behalf, and conveys us the divine reply from God. He guides us in every
situation, once we surrender to him. So, one must have Guru. And then surrender to Him.
This is known as Saranaagati.
Remember the saying - Daivam maanusha rupena - God only takes the human form of
SriGuru and know that there is no disparity / difference between Guru and God. Guru is
an ocean of Mercy. All the humanity, devotees, non-devotees, the wise and the ignorant,
including sinners are same to Him. Guru is the ready God for us.
Guru is indispensable in the holy path to reach God. Life is very short. Vidya or
Knowledge to learn, is huge and too vast. There is no time in life for livelihood itself.
Extreme exploitation of humanity is prevalent. A true guide is most warranted in this
modern life.
People go to Datta Guru kshetras and stay there praying for weeks and months together.
Ganagapur, Kuruvapuram, Narsobawadi, Shirdi, Pithapuram, Mantralayam, Shringeri,
Dwaraka, Udipi, Sidheswar and Kanchi mutts are well known.
Sri Dattatreya tradition:
It is an ancient tradition in India, followed by Sri Datta devotees. Unless His Grace is
bestowed upon, one cannot come in touch with this tradition. Sripada Sri Vallabha,
Narasimha Sarasvati (Sri Guru), Manikya Prabhu Akkalkot Maharaj, Sai Baba are said to
be avatars / incarnations of Sri Dattatreya.
Of late, Sri Ekkirala Bharadwaj{Ongole}, Sri Venkaiah Svami {Golagamudi-Nellore}, Sri
Ramachandra {Guntakal}have come to light in the Datta tradition. They have left their bodies.
Dear devotee! Whatever be your problem - face it gently, politely and with humility.
Identify and try to surmount your problem. In the first instance, you should try to solve
your problem by yourself. Prayer is one of the solutions - infact, the best. Take the problem
to Guru for guidance. ie. think of Guru. He will solve by energising you. When all the
avenues have failed, and you are in crisis and frustration - yet do not lose faith, boldness,
confidence and hope. Dont get panic! Wait! Still there is one more prayer, the last. Open
your heart and cry; speak to Guru at heart. Entrust your job / problem with earnestness,
hope and trust to Guru. Tell Him that you are totally surrendering to him (Tameva saranam
gachcha). Enhance your patience. Feel at heart - there is Guru God and sincerely express you
have tried tried and tried and now left all other roads / avenues and finally come to the
internal divine doctor for treatment of the problems ( Sarva dharman parijyachya tavam ekam
Saranam). This urge must be repeated intensely till it reaches the fathoms deep heart to touch
the lotus feet of Sri Guru. Surrender yourself to Sri Guru - with full heart, wholly with
positive trust. This is Samarpana. Do Saptaha parayana of Sri Guru Charitra. Feed the poor.
He fulfills desires and solves problems on merits.
Request from your narrator
Please do not get confused by various advices, books and people. Be clear, frank, firm and
sincere in the thought of Guru and then pray. Have clarity in prayer. Dont run after many
Gurus, one after the other. Mind you! fake gurus also are wandering. Use common sense.
Your conscience is the best judge. Have a silent conversation with the Guru in your heart.
He will guide you, incognito first. Later, on your sadhana, profound devotion - He will give
you Svapna darshan. You will be blessed.
Your narrator is keen and prays that you be blessed with Sri Gurus Grace and Success in
Life getting Moksha, free from problems and with paripurna Ananda - Bliss. His wishes,

SriGuru Charitra needs no introduction to the elderly. For the young generation of Hindu
origin, living in foreign lands and the curious others - SriGuru Charitra is a new subject.
This is not just the life of a Guru. It is the sanatana system of life on the earth for living,
loving, caring, sharing, helping, guiding, saving and achievement of good standards of
thinking, doing and ending the tasks during the tenure of a human being successfully, for
the welfare of the society.
This SriGuru Charitra, is specially written to expound maximum substance of the original,
in minimum reading time to heart and understand, in simple English.
Sri Dattatreya tradition is ancient. Maharashtra is famous for this Datta cult and SriGuru
Charitra is the holy book.

meaning: Just by the thought of whom Knowledge springs up spontaneously and every thing is
accomplished, that Guru has to be worshipped.
Essentially it contains some life events of SriGuru Dattatreya, Sripada SriVallabha and
SriGuru Narasimha Sarasvati svamis. These events indicate solutions to various problems
confronting mankind. Even today, it is applicable for the welfare of modern society.
The original 7491 ovis (51 chapters) was written by Sri Gangadhar Sarasvati in colloquial
Marathi around 1460 AD. It was translated to Sanskrit in the 19 th century by Sri
Vasudevananda Sarasvati in 7000 slokas first and later abridged by Him into 2000 slokas. It
is said that SriGuru Gita was incoporated into it, by Him. Like many ancient vedic books, it
contains mantras.
The Hindu customs, rituals and the way of life during 13 th , 14th and 15th centuries is
reflected in SriGuru Charitra. The absence of true historical records, influence of Moghul
rule and apparent description of the wonders in the stories, create some deviation of the
contents of the stories and different notion of understanding to the reader.
The nucleus of SriGuru Charitra is Bhakti Yoga. It dictates Karma yoga through the stories.
Life in Gurukulam, Gruhasta, tribal and peasants, pride of the learned, blind beliefs and
faith, lack of medical facilities, social customs, aspirations - frustration of people and
Sanyasa, are picturised in the stories. Gjnana and Vairagya are the fruits, one can pick up
from this tree of true stories.
The right system of living life is explained and advocated.
The narration by Siddha to Namadharaka is a yoga and has to be construed as Guru to
Sishya or Self teaching and svaadhyaya. The story and dialogue method of writing
was followed.
The birth and life events of Sri Dattatreya Svami, Sri Sripada Sri Vallabha and Sri
Narasimha Sarasvati are concisely narrated. Sri Narasimha Sarasvati is also known as and
called as SriGuru. The concepts of Dharma, Gurus Grace, Faith, Mercy, feeding
brahmins and the poor, punyam rituals and pilgrimage are aptly highlighted.
The greatness of SriGuru Charitra
Grantha rupena samsthita SriGuru Dattatreya Namah: !!!
It is said: Sri Dattatreya Svami is an embodiment of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesvara with
their powers integrated in to Him; He exists in the form of the book; still exists on this
earth and has not shed His body; Guru is God in human form; He is the source of
miraculous knowledge and the existing giant effulgent cosmic power.
Who can understand that power? For this, parayana of SriGuru Charitra is prescribed.
Incurable diseases were cured miraculously, death was sent back and life ebbed in its site,
a person burnt to ashes has regained human body with life, pregnancy planted in to barren
woman, disabled were enabled, dumb and chandala chanted the Vedas, the poor became
instantly rich and the suffering disgusts were restored to smile normal life and many more
wonders had happened by SriGurus Grace. SriGuru Charitra represents that power for the
welfare of humanity.
In every religion, there is a Guru, there is the thought of God and all people in this world
lead life as per their respective Gurus words or their own conscience.
Who can do Parayana?
There is a rule in Rudra adhyaya: na rudro na rudram archayet (to worship Rudra, one
should become Rudra) Similarly, SriGuru Charitra parayana is not meant for those who
have no faith in SriGuru. It is not meant for women. Why? The parayana is just not reading,
it is a continuous time bound treatment. Once started - it should be completed without
break. Apart from this, the original SriGuru Charitra contained mantras. Unless initiated
by Guru, no mantra should be uttered. Sidha initiated SriGuru Charitra to Namadharaka. It
is a mantra by itself. Women are prohibited from mantra upadesa (see Kacha - Devayani
and Kunti stories). SriGuru Charitra is a big energy like Fire, Electricity, Petrol and Spark.
SriGuru is the existing giant effulgent cosmic power. He has no discrimination of gender to
receive prayers. As a tradition, Datta devotees from Maharashtra follow this rule in
performing SriGuru Charitra parayana, and even women perform the parayana.

Means: (22) Vedas, Shastras, Puraanas, itihasas and various mantra, yantra and allied mesmerizing studies /
techniques exist in this world.
(23) The Shaiva, Shakta Agama and other various sects / religions too exist. People living in illusion, without devotion to
Guru, will not be able to understand / appreciate all those.

Srimad Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavata and other epics puranas are stories of kings. A
guru, yogi or sadhu is considered by kings as holy and superior and kings bow down and
tender saashtanga namaskarams to them.
Vachasa charitam vadami shambho reads the sloka 90 of Sri Adi Sankaracharyas
Sivaananda Lahari. Nee charitamu kamaneeyamu reads on the story of Sri Krishna.
Thus, reading the stories is an established tradition of Bhakti marga.
The stories of Gurus are rare and SriGuru Charitra is classic and the greatest in this world
of Guru cult.
SriGuru is Kalpataru and grants everything one deserves. SriGuru Charitra parayana grants
His Grace and fulfills all desires. Just reading the book is different from paarayana. One
must deserve before he desires and has to seek only for the right requisites. It is said:
Ladies are not eligible to do parayana, but in Ganagapur, now, girls and ladies too are doing
parayana at the Sangamam. Datta devotees visit Pithapuram, Kurupuram, Narsobawadi,
Audumbari, Girnar, Akkalkot, Manikprabhu and Shirdi Sai Baba mutts / maths to get
Gurus Grace. Devotees have got their prayers answered and desires fulfilled.
Saptaha Parayana is a seven day great spiritual power treat. It is very sacred.
What exactly one need is His Grace. Anyone has to work and earn for it. Through SriGuru
Charitra parayana, His Nirguna Paadukas, Pradakshina to Audumbar Asvatha tree,
anyone can win His Grace. Miracles do happen. Have faith in SriGuru! Think that He is in
your heart - not far away. Remember, He is Bhakta vatsala, loves his devotees; never
likes His devotees to fall or suffer. Smarana maatrena - just at the thought of Him, He
responds. He will lift you up lending His hands, just at a call of cry of sincere Prayer. He is
the existing giant effulgent cosmic power. Sure, sure, sure! Your prayer reaches Him. Then,
sure, your wish is granted - fulfilled. Never forget to feed the poor. SriGuru relishes it.

To comment on SriGuru Charitra, it requires voluminous knowledge of Shastras, rituals,

practices, customs (acharams), geographical, historical and psychological analytical
expertise and strong supporting evidence data. In the absence of these, it is only
impressions, opinions and imagination probabilities, that can be rendered and these, in true
sense do not form commentary. In the second stated category, this is projected with some
points drawn from the former. The reader be pleased kindly to excuse the writer - narrator
in this regard. Honestly I am not so learned as to comment on the holy SriGuru Charitra.
SriGuru Charitra narrates the tales of individuals, who, by virtue of Bhakti and devotion
to Guru, got His Grace - the prime requisite to Moksha. People got their problems solved.
That is not the end but the beginning on the path of Bhakti to Moksha.
The four purusha ardhas are the birth right of all human beings. Dharma, Ardha, Kaama
and Moksha. These are not acquired by birth. What one acquires is only Prarabdham with /
in the form of a holy human body. In the light of the brought up by parents and the
knowledge acquired from teacher [Guru], one enters this free world with free thoughts of
Will. It is the knowledge of Dharma that one procures from Guru but that has to be
practised in life. Earning for livelihood in the light of Dharma is the ideal practice. It is
here that man enters into Samsara, the world. Various analyses were already made in the
hoary past generations, that too by Maharshis - for the benefit of mankind. They enunciated
Shastras, norms, rules and regulations as to how to lead life and earn the purushaardhas.
The modern man is so much involved in earning livelihood that his full life time is
consumed for it and he has no time to think of Shastras.
When man is confronted with usual problems of life and he cannot solve, nor get them
solved, he sees for / thinks of friends, well wishers, consultants, and if tremendous
problems confront he goes to Mahatmas, Svamijis, gurus and he resorts to remedial
measures and goes to temples, holy places (Kshetras) andon pilgrimages.The delay in
solution / result, causes mental disgust. If no solution comes nor the matters turn worse, he

is prone to get in to depression too, in some cases. With failures in endeavours, mental
strength deteriorates.
In this advent, by divine grace he comes in contact with Sri Datta / Dattatreya Guru cult.
This is really the one or the first stage in forward right direction. SriGuru Charitra is heard
of, seen as a book and the man gets attracted to it, with a selfish motive. By indulging in
reading, the desire for parayana evolves to fulfill his desires and it leads to understanding
the text and stories in the right perspective.
In the case of Namadharaka, when he passed through the stage of undergoing usual human
difficulties, got tired of materialistic life, he proceeded on pilgrimage to SriKshetra
Ganagapur, his mind was still restless and lost hopes of mental peace. His continuous
yearning for SriGuru paduka darshan, the arduous journey on foot, turned him physically
weak while his mind was not stable. This condition resulted in his collapse and he went
asleep on ground. The intensity of his prayer brought in to his sleep, the Yogi darshan. It is
important for us to note God never fails, although we do in our duty. Gajendra Moksham
story in Srimad Bhagavatam is the best example. Similarly, here in SriGuru Charitra, Nama
had the vision in sleep of a Yogi and Namas mind relished and recovered from his lost
mind. Daivam maanusha rupena, it is said in Shastras. It is proved true.
The content and intent of SriGuru Charitra, when studied profoundly, some times, lead to
the thought of reminding of Sri Bhagavad Gita.
Namadharaka starts the journey to Ganagapur with anxiety and frustration on materialistic
life, in search of peace of mind, expecting it from SriGuru Paduka darshan in Ganagapur.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna had already reached the battle field in the chariot driven by
Sri Krishna and then on seeing the opponents, starts thinking with anxiety and frustration
(on life of the effects war on the opponents and the then existing and future society,
particularly his own families and relatives affront in the war), in search of peace of mind,
expecting it from renouncing the war. He was in distress and delusion.
Sri Krishna, the Guru in the Bhagavad Gita, gave upadesa, only when Arjuna surrendered
saying:
Yat shreyahsya nischitam bhru hi tanme
Sishyaste aham saadhi maam tvaam prapannam!
( BG II. 7)
Means - I am your disciple, I surrender to you, what is right for me, order me! ; then
only, Sri Krishna opened His voice to teach as Guru. When one yearns, cries and
surrenders, divine Grace showers in. When this will happen, we do not know. In the
interest of a devotee, in the light of his prarabdha, some difficulties, problems and
sufferings arise so that the devotee will direct his mind towards God and surrenders. Not
knowing the help God does, we blame Him. To be blessed with some difficulty - suffering,
thereby getting in to devotional and philanthropic road, meeting and consulting
philosophers, Gurus, getting Praarabdha experienced, is all what one has to appreciate as
coming nearer to God- that is Upa nayanam and upa vasam.
Sri Krishna gave Upadesam of Gita to Arjuna and Sidha did give upadesa of Sri Guru
Charitra to Nama, in this.
SriGuru Charitra starts with the salient points in Brahma Vaivarta Maha Puranam (BVMP).
The nature of gunas in Kali yuga are stated to warn people to be careful and approach a
Guru.
Interpretation of the two personalities in SriGuru Charitra:
Namadharaka and Sidha:

Sidha: In meditation, by divine Grace, human mind acquires the knowledge of Brahma and
realises Self as Brahma. Brahma vid Brahmaiva bhavati. That wisdom turns him as
Brahma.
Sidhha is That One who has thus become Brahma, settled in peaceand joy, yet in human
form preaching Dharma of the Vedas, leading people out of the barriers of human bond
sufferings. One possessing such powers is called Avadhoota. The Siddha Purusha in this
represents Paramatma the Guru or teacher.
Namadharaka: meaning the one who bears a name, is Self, Atma or Jiva, in human form
is the student or disciple.
This is one mode of interpretation and the duo may be variously interpreted.
Prayer To Guru:
Svami nnamaste nata loka bandho karunya sindho patitam bhavabdhou !
Mam udhara atmiya kayaksha drushtya rujvyati karunya sudhabhi vrushtya !! 37. VC
Sri Adi Sankaracharya says in Viveka Chudamani:
Shantamahaanto nivasanti santo, vasanta valloka hitam charantah:!
Teernah svayam bheema bhavaarnavam janah,sa hetu na anyaa na api taarayantiah: !! 39 VC
Guru is the one who has crossed the ocean of samsara and with grace get others too to do
so.
Dasa avataras: Birth of Sri Dattatreya
The root cause of Dasa avataras of SriMaha Vishnu is stated in SriGuru Charitra as a
beneficial reward to mankind to see God on the earth. The importance of Ekadasi vratam
and the strange words and curses of Maharshis - denote even during holy times - what of
human, even maharshis lose their patience. It is a warning to the man in this world. By
anger and in unbecoming impatience, man becomes a monkey.
Sri Vishnu, the God as Manas and His avtaras, amsas as tools, man has to interpret life as
manifestation of God and Vratas as invitation to God. This is coming nearer to God or
upavasam.
The references to Sri Brahma Vaivarta Maha Puranam mentioning creation of the world
and men and women and of nine famous couples, of which Atri and Anasuya to whom Sri
Dattatreya was born gives the origin of Datta cult.
The avatar of Sri Dattatreya as Sri pada Sri Vallabha is the next stage in Sri Guru Charitra,
while the detailed story of Sri Dattatreyas life was concised.
The story of Gokarna, Sripadas stay there and the importance of the place as Bhuloka
Kailasam is mentioned. Sripadas stay and Tapas in Kurupuram and His wonders after
relinquishing His body suddenly, were mentioned very concisely. His life was not narrated
well.
The next (second) avatar of Sri Dattatreya is Narasimha Sarasvati, which is mentioned as to
keep Sripadas promise to a devotee. Gurus keep up their words as promises. It is true.
Sri Guru Charitra gives full life story of Narasimha Sarasvati, right from His birth, name as
Narahari and His Sanyasa Ashram Namam Sri Narasimha Sarasvati and His wanderings
right from Karanja to Kasi Badari, Himalayas, Kolkatta (Ganga Sagar), Godavari from
Trayambakesvar to Dhavaleswaram - Antarvedi, Godavari Parikrama and visits to
Pithapuram, Bhillawadi, Audumbar, Pancha ganga, Amarapura (Narsoba wadi), Sri Sailam,
Sri Kshetra Ganagapur and finally His last journey to Kadali vana Svakshetra from Sri
Sailam.

Sayamdeva: Mention was made of Sayamdeva (the ancestor of Namadharaka) in the early
chapters. Guru seva was amply described in stories. Upliftment of poor Brahmins was
given as case stories. The ritual ceremonies to the dead pitrus was given high importance in
nullifying past sins.
SriGuru Charitra emphasizes fasting, eminently projects Chandrayana vrata as a great
resource for two purposes viz: (i) Good health yoga and (ii) nullification of sins Prayaschittam and procurement of punya.
India, particularly, South India had various differences, disliking, divisive and meaningless
discriminating separatism amongst the Brahmins themselves, like Vaishnava and Shaiva. In
SriGuru Charitra, this type of separatism was abandoned and SriGuru advocated,
prescribed and encouraged both Shaiva and Vaishnava cults endeavouring harmony to
them. He advised the following: Siva puja Pradosha puja Sani pradosha puja (Saturday
evening), Sivaratri puja, Ekadasi vrata, Sri Ananta Padmanabha Vratam, Somavara vratam,
visits to all kshetras of various Hindu cults in India, pujas and worshipping trees as God,
bath in various rivers, Prayers to the Goddesses by devotees, mention and empowering of
64 yoginis and allied incidents lead to the point that natural forces representing Gods grant
wishes and people unnecessarily separated amongst themselves by feeling the cult
superiority as Shaiva,Vaishnava, Madhva, Shakteya, Gaanapatya etc. This dissent and
separatism of cults have been reformed and solved by Sri Adi Sankara Acharya to bring
them all under one shelter and fold, by introducing Panchayatanam system of puja. Each
cult has a Guru and all Gurus are One only, in essence. SriGuru Charitra is a reformer
forging several cults of Hindusism in to one. Today, in 2015, a large percent of Hindus all
over India and the world do know and think of Gurus and some of them of SriGuru
Charitra.
The natural system of life in this world is creation of family. A system of marriage was
inititated long ago in Hinduism. Man and woman have been entered in to this noble cause
by a vedic ceremony for creation. Mutual respect, love and affection, purity of body and
mind, sancity, mutual service, living and dying one for the other between husband and wife
as a single unit (couple), devoid of jealousy and selfishness, service to the deserving and
the poor through gruhastha dharma, feeding animals, birds, fish and other creatures and
performing vedic rituals and ceremonies of fore fathers and maany humanitarian and vedic
acts are part of the system of life after marriage.
SriGuru never encouraged Sanyasa nor discouraged family life set up. His devotees were
asked to bring their families and live in Ganagapur. He was a promoter of Purusha ardhas.
He advocated peaceful life by getting rid of evil forces / persons; selfishness and sins. He
did help many people in this regard. SriGuru was more than a social worker in His lifetime.
This is evident from the stories and incidents in them in SriGuru Charitra.
Character building and morals: The Hindu system, its ethics, etiquettes, the sanatana
samskaras - systems, ashramas: Brahma charya, of family life, Gruhastha dharmas,
Sanyasa and renunciation have all been very well narrated in the stories of Guru Charitra.
Todays modern society is reminded of Chastity, Pativratya power and how the unity of
man and woman in ancient times was treated and regarded during life and in death.
Although out lawed and inhuman, Sri Guru Charitra did not encourage Sati and the
incidents of the stories depicting sati in two stories and sacrifice of wife in another story
did not culminate in sorrow or death and the women in the stories did not die.
The prevalent custom, of course, in Hinduism, then was not kept hidden and the facts were
truly stated. Thus SriGuru Charitra stands for Truth, Ahimsa and well being of the society.
There was never discrimination between man and woman.

The power of chastity - celibacy and service to spouse is Pativrata - bharta (Husband)
dharmam order: It is for both husband and wife. Such couples will be given Gods
darshan (Grace) and blessed with godly children. Trust, love, happiness and harmonious
life are advocated in SriGuru Charitra
There are certain holy places on this earth. The stay, service and prayers at those places
give Luck, warding off sins / papams and evils, bestowing punyam. It was stated so.
Sarpa and manushya curses exist. Dividing good couples and families or causing problems
to them is a maha papam - great sin. On repentence and undergoing prarabdham, if one
stays in holy places, he will be freed from such sins / doshams. SriGuru Charitra gives
remedies to human mistakes, mischiefs and evil acts done in previous lives. It is valid even
today.
SriGuru personally prevented many suicides. In cases of facing of insult, failure, frustration
and disgust, even when the inexperienced young people fall in to delusion, the elders
should avert such ideas by giving hope and positive thoughts enabling and energizing to
avert suicidal negative mentality. Change of place and taking advice are necessary. SriGuru
Charitra emphasizes the protection of life and bans suicides.
In critical dangerous situations / conditions, when ones life or honour is threatened, he
must not get in to panic. He must use his brain and intelligence to try to get out of the
problem by seeking for help. He should not be silent and inactive. Life is for living full life.
Certain important points arise from the stories of SriGuru Charitra:
There is a proverb: Yeti jivantam Anando naram Varsha satadh api !! Sundara kaanda 34.6
Many plans are usually thought of for achievement in life and people cannot get them fulfilled. By the time they arrive half
the way, life finishes. So, full life is necessary. Man must be alive to cherish his wishes of the plans. In this context, the
proverb uttered by Sita devi in Ramayanas Sundara kaanda sarga 34.6 is relevant even today. Despite being in all
troubles, harassment and subjected to hell of cruelty, man / woman must try to live full life (and midway should not short
cut life).
Sita devi thought of suicide after Ravana threatened to kill her, giving two months time to decide on his proposal. When
Hanuman went to her and informed about Sri Rama and Lakshmana, she uttered [and declared this proverb to be true to
these words]:
Kalyani bata gadheyam loukikee prati bhati ma! Yeti jivantam Anando naram Varsha satadh api !!.. SundaraKaanda 34.6
Means: If man is alive, even after 100 years, he can get what he wants (Sukham). This is true.
God never wanted a person to terminate his life, by him/her self. There is no sanction even in the Shastras.
Sukha Dukhas are part of life and one has to bear the dualities. Mind should be pruned to deal with all situations and
exigencies
In life and life to be protected.
Once the mission of avatar is over, God or Guru relinquishes human (body) form.
List of holy places, rivers, sangamams and holy occasions, vratas to enhance punyam,
longevity; and nullify papams sins and bestow welfare fulfilling the human desires are
enumerated in SriGuru Charitra for the benefit of mankind.
Chandrayana Vrata Phalam (CVP) is the degree or extent of resultant punyam or
positive charge acquired by performing a positive karma. Calculation of Punyam
quantiying in terms of CVP seems to be prevalent in 12 13 th centuries in the region. It is
a very good health yoga for man, but people have forgotten this.
Mahatma Gandhi practised this concept of upavasa or fasting, although upavasa does not
mean fasting.

The story of Deepaka: He is the blessed disciple and an exemplary attender to his Guru.
He said:
Maya paasa Moha samsara bandham of husband and wife is a mutual agreement. The
adhyatmic bond of Guru - Sishya is also a mutually agreeable one. If one does not like,
there is no Guru - Sishya.
Thinking of Guru: The thought of it, with devotion to Guru, all Knowledge springs up
spontaneously. Bhakti develops through effort and patience.
This story deals vastly on the service, devotion, dedication, patience, sacrifice, strength of
humility in facing insults and injury to self respect, enormous Bhakti and reverence
demanded of a noble disciple or a devotee of Guru.
On Bhakti, Sri Adi Sankaracharyas Viveka Chudamani states: Mukti Sadhana samagryam Bhaktir eva
gariyasi. In Sivaananda Lahari, it is said: Arudha bhakti guna kunchita bhava anandamavahati ..
ie.Bhakti, stable mind and smarana of Gods name grant moksham. Amongst these, Bhakti is supreme.
In sloka 77 of Sivaananda Lahari and in the great Tamil prabandha TIruppavai, the uncommon and
intimate thought of madhura bhakti is stated to be of utmost close contact / special treat towards God as well
asself atma samarpana, ie. Offering one self to God. This is the profound bhakti ofa bride/wife to her
groom / husband. Here, one joins and merges in to the other, ie. attains ekatvam or one ness. This, amongst
all the systems of bhakti parlance, is considered, the sacred bhakti. Such are exemplified in Meera bai, Andal,
(Sati, Parvati towards God Siva) and Gopikas towards Krishna (in Bhagavatam and Tiruppavai).
There is yet, another type of Bhakti in Sabari towards Sri Rama and Avvayyar towards Lord Subrahmanya /
Ganesha, similar to Vakula devi towards Sri Venkatesvara (Tirupati).
Vatsalya of Kausalya towards Sri Rama, of Yashoda towards Sri Krishna, of Hiranya Kasipu towards
Prahlada, of Bali towards Vamana, of Siva towards Markandeya, of Yama (god of death) towards Nachiketu
( in Katha Upanishad) and of Vishnu towards Dhruva led to Moksham of the devotees in an unparallel way
as compared to normal servant- master system of bhakti.
In sloka 77 of Sri Adi Sankaracharyas Sivaananda Lahari, Viraha Bhakti is mentioned. He says:
Budhi sthira bhavatum esvara pada padma
Sakta vafdhu virahini va sada svaranti
Sadbhavana smarana darsana keertana adi
Sammohita eve siva mantra jape navinte!!
It is said: God urgently takes care of such devotees who are in dire thirst of desire for Him. This is viraha
bhakti.
How Siva and Vishnu became lovers - devotees of each other and so important to the mankind is due to their
smarana devotion to each other, they yearn for each other, as stated in Rudra Hrudayopanishad, Ya Uma
saa svayam Vishnuh ie. Uma [wife of Siva] is Vishnu, and Vishnur yonih (sruti). It is said: Tirupati
Venkatesvara is the form of Devi (female) of Vishnu.
The nine systems / modes of Bhakti are stated in sloka 81 of Sri Adi Sankaracharyas Sivaananda Lahari.
Alloting some time for each type of te nine Bhakti systems / modes, a devotee should spend the life time,
particularly in the morning, noon and evening, working for his livelihood during the rest of the day.
In the Bhagavad Gita, there is a full chapter devoted to Bhakti and it is called aYoga.
Bhakti is svabhavaja, in - born and in normal words, it is reverence but in practice, its ultimate end is
samarpana ie. atma samarpana. There are Nava bhakti sutras of Narada. In a student or disciple, Bhakti
starts with service to Guru and His family and the premises where they live. It can not be easily defined
without examples.
The three incidents in the story of Deepaka are of those students, who later grew up and
became Maharshis. It is a reality in history. Here, the real Guru - Sishya story is stated.
The grace of guru springs up profound knowledge and His blessings make the student a
Maharshi. Earning Gurus Grace is not easy; one has to dedicate, surrender and offer
himself to Guru, manasa vacha karmana ( with body - mind, spirit; tongue talk, and
deed); that is total samarpana or Sarana gati for getting knowledge, which leads the student
to the light of Moksham.

Tarayate: Gurus not only get Moksham, but take along with them, many people.

Guru Gita
Yoginis:
64 yoginis were serving Svami Sri Guru Narasimha Sarasvati with shodasa upacharas daily
at the Audumbar tree. Kaala nagas are Devata Sarpa Yoginis. They served Dattatreya svami
since He was on and in the water. In Sri Lalita Sahasra namas, in Kaasi Khandam, in
Br.V.M.P., and else where, in several puranas, references are available of the Yoginis.
Rituals: These customs close all the past debts and one gets freed from great sins. Demons
get vimukti.This is a remedy.
Narasobawadi is enriched with 5 rivers: Siva, Bhadra, Kumbha, Bhogavati and Saraswati
confluence with Krishna, equal to Prayaga.
Sri Guru, staying in the spirit of audumbar tree grants devotees wishes, obscurely.
Sri Nrusimha Sarasvati Guru exists now also and responds to every call of the devotees,
said Siddha to Namadharaka.
Ganagapur: The confluence of Bhima and Amaraja is more pious than Prayaga. Sri Guru
stays there incognito. Only at noon, He comes out for Biksha.
The touch of Sri Guru evaporates sins and brings in prosperity. His amruta drushti (kind
grace) generates life in the dead. Svami is great and merciful.
Story of the couple Dattudu Savitri: Daivam maanusha rupena is true. When one cries
for God, He comes in human form before the devotee. Thus Yogi came. Even to Nama,
Sidha came so.
Srimad Ramayana is one of the best narrations in the world on human suffering and specifically when some
one is confronted with continuous miseries in life. It is Sita Devi who suffered as such and her words are
valuable to mankind.
Priyannasambhave dukham apriyadadhikam bhayam !
Tabhyam hi e viyujyantenamastesham mahatmanam !!
Sundara kaanda 26. 50
Means: Normally, when some thing is dear, there is no grief; devoid of that creates fear dislike - confrontsfrightens - ; those above this state are mahatmas, I bow to them!
Narration: In Ramayana, Sundara kaanda, these are the words in the thoughts of Sita devi, while in Lanka.
She was in a state of depression, isolation, lonely and away from her dear husband Sri Rama for ten months.
Valmika maharshi states here {through Sita devis thoughts) the cause of grief. Love liking dear
priyam. Mamakaram, attachment, affection and intimacy all cause grief, though, in the beginning they grant
pleasure.
In Bhagavad Gita, it is said:
Na prahrushet priyam prapya no dvijet prapya cha apriyam
Sthira budhir asammudho brahma vidmahmani sthitah: !!

One should not get depressed when he has to face undesirable unexpected situation; stable balanced mind
in grief and joy are most warranted. It is well said than really felt.
Rudraksha: Wearing of or performing Japa touching Rudraksha evolves enormous positive charge
of energy of destroying sins. The chemical energy of it is mystic.It is Rudra by itself, ie. the Shakti of
Siva.
In Sivaananda Lahari Sloka 62, it is said: mother takes care of her child by various safety measures
and she applies Vibhuti mantra bhasma, Rudraksha lace and performs pujas to protrct her child

from evil forces. Bhakti ensures peace, Guru bhakti and wards off fear, grief, anxiety, mental
problems and suffering.
In Rudraksha Jabalopanishad, Bhasma Jabalopanishad and
Sri Guru Charitra parayana should be done by men only. Mantras should not be given to women .
Yat karma kurvato asyasyat paritosho antaratmanah:
yat prayatnena kurvita, vipareetantu varjayet !!
4 161 Manu smruti
Means: The thing / act by which Antaratma is pleased, have / do it with all vigour. Leave the rest.

On Mantra Upadesa: What had happened to Kunti [in Maha Bharata] on getting
upadesa of Surya mantra? She delivered a child, Karna without marriage. Therefore,
mantras should never be taught to women.
Soma vara and Ama Soma vara vratams do exist. When Amavasya falls on a Monday, it
is called Ama Soma vara.
On that day devatas descend on to the earth to receive prayers of devotees and grant
boons. Raw Cotton should not be touched on that day. Generally, on Mondays, people
do not make bathi (vathi) for deepa aradhana.
A recent incident is now told as story in Pravachanas in mathas. A sadhu was invited
for Bikha by a gruhasta and he accepted. On that particular day, Sadhu went to
gruhasta. As the wife of gruhasta had to stay out (due to monthly period) the
neighbour lady was requested to cook food in gruhstas home. She accepted, cooked
and served food to Sadhu and gruhastha.
Next morning, the Sadhu came to gruhastas home again. He handed over a silver
tumbler in which he drank water on the previous day. Gruhasta was stunned to see it
was his tumbler only. Sadhu told him, my mind behaved like a thief yesterday after
taking food. It became normal today and I repent and apologise for this theft, excuse
me he said.
Gruhastas wife came to know of this and told her husband: the neighbour lady is a
thief and earlier she had stolen many silver items.
Thus, the nature of a person cooking food transfers such gunas to the food. The
persons who eat also get such gunasmomentarily. When that product goes out of the
body, that nature also goes with it.
It is a fact and that is why people say: while cooking and also during eating Hari
nama smarana is prescribed in Hindu culture.

Read regularly Puranas and Dharna Shastras. Tell others also the dharma.
About fertility in SriGuru Charitra: Is it true and possible? There is an answer. Recent
incident in 2014. At the age of 93 a man got a son, but wife was only 30. It is said: Many
wonders were seen in those times.
In SriGuru Gita It is said SriGuru can do wonders.
About the merciful sight of Guru:

Prayers to Trees: Encircling with devotion to Asvatha / peepal / fig (audumber) tree never goes
waste. Seva never gets waste. It always gives fruits. Seven 7 days seva to Guru with pradakshins,
Paarana, feeding Brahmins and taking prasadam. The old lady beyond 60 years of age became
pregnant due to fruits prasadam given by Sri Guru and delivered a child.
There is a mystic rejuvenation process unknown to us. Such cases are rare.

Faith: It is to be understood from the incidents in the stories of Sri Guru Charitra that Bhaavana, faith
is pramanam. Results come in as such. The mantra, a Brahmin priest, an astrologer and a doctor,
Gurus men all get the benefit by faith alone. Just by a dry stick Sri Guru proved the result of
faith.Trust in Gurus word - God protects devotees fulfills his faith.

Siva puja: Chita bhasma was used in back yugas. Now Vibhuti bhasma is available for Siva puja.
Sacrifice is a divine quality in human mind. One has to boldly get ready to sacrifice.The tribals, have
very less common sense and very high Blind faith of trust on Guru or leaders words.The woman had
the courage even to sacrifice her life for a good cause of her husband. Wife must support her
husband at all times and partcilarly in difficulties.
The faith in Gurus word and trust in husband produce wonderful results.
It is said: Kaasi is a centre of cosmic power and the city of over 5000 years old. The river Ganga, the most
pious rivers amongst those in the world, flows here on to the north of the city. It is an auspicious sign. One,
who has the permission of Sri Kala Bhairava svami {the commander of the city} can enter the city. None
starves here by the Grace of Annapurna devi. Kaasi is Kailasam on the earth and Lord Siva gives upadesa of
Rama taaraka mantra, in to the right ear of those who renounce the body in Kaasi. They will get freed from
human bond. It is a great belief.

Sayam Deva stories: Having satisfied with the devotion of Sayam, Sri Guru told him to bring his
family and stay in Ganagapur. It is Kaasi, by itself.
Sri Ananta Padmanabha Svami Vratam wards off poverty and grants prosperity. It removes all
Sarpa doshas.The puja grants perennial growth (vamsa vruddhi) of family.
On Bhadrapada Sukla Chaturdasi, exactly 11 days after Vinayaka Chaviti (Ganesh Chaturdhi) this
vratam is observed. This may be individually celebrated at home or in group in temple or mandapam
collectively, on a large scale.
Leaves of Kusa (Darbha) laced with 14 junctions placed in a kalasam and similarly laced silk red
thread (thoram) as bracelet and abhisheka puja with cow milk and 14 varieties of dishes to be
nivedana and sincere bhakti are essential. It should be performed for 14 years annually. Brahmins
should be fed and honoured after puja. At night, meals should not be taken by those wearing thoram.
Lord Krishna and Goddess Yamuna are the presiding deities.
Procedure: Puja to Yamuna ; puja to Sri Ananta Padmanabha Svami; Sri Krishna Ashtothar; puja to
Thoram with 14 Grandhis ; reading Ananta Vrata Katha (Story). This should be done to alleviate
poverty.
14 varieties of food nivedana - all items in 14 nos.; Vaayana daanam to Brahmin.
It is a powerful auspicious grand festival rich in the grant of boons
..
Ganagapur: The 8 teerthas there are as powerful as Gaya, Kaasi, Gokarna.That is why
SriGuru stayed here.
[History: The muslim king was Allauddin 2 who ruled the state from 27-2-1435 to 13-21458. He passed away in 1458-59, later to the visit of Sri Guru to the city and did not go to
Srisailam. ]
Sidha gave a serial re-view of Sri Guru Charitra as a summary to Namadharaka for recapitulation at
the end of Sri Guru Charitra. This is for the sake of the deserving devotees. He told Nama: Due to the
adharma in the world, Sri Guru is inconspicuous and lives obscure in Sri Guru Charitra and lives in
the pure hearts of the devotees.
Saptaha parayana of Sri Guru Charitra washes off all sins and grants Sri Guru darshan. This is
promise! There is no doubt at all. Treat this book as Sri Guru svarupa. Have full trust. These are
Sidhas words.
As a closure to this commentary, it is to be stated that the concept of Guru is God and not a reflection
of God. Prayer is the only mode to obviate, alleviate and get rid of human problems. Whom to pray?
God only. Where is God? Yes! He is! He is in the form of Guru in human form.
Gama gamastham gaganadi sunyam chit rupa deepam timira paharam pasyanti te darsam sarva
jana antarasyam.. Rudram
So, it is said: It is there in minute form in every human heart and Daivam Maanusha rupena! , God is
in every man [ man is a potent iota - element of Divine power].
Why Guru Charitra? Sloka 90 of Sivaananda Lahari : Vachasa charitam shambho The Charitra
or story accomplishes peace of mind and antah karana santi. Parayana is an age old practice of
treatment.
The epics are prescribed for fulfillment of many wishes. These are stories. Guru Charitra is the set of
stories of Guru. It is a holy book and its parayana is considered as a great power treat and
hence prescribed for parayana.
Thus, human effort, interest, devotion and perseverance with patience should solve human problems,
generally. When that fails, one has to to Guru only.
It need not be over emphasised on the Guru Charitra here. At the end of the day, people get tired of
life. In the morning , the struggle of / for life starts. This routine is Samsara.

The ideal human life, what God has given before sending man to this earth is: energetic enthusiasm
(utsaham) every morning and happiness of satisfaction at the end of the day and rest with peace of
mind at night.

Karunya bhavena tava Sri charitra parayana anugrahamastu!
Parayana means reading with heart. It bestows many things. The crossing of the
ocean of samsara is par; the story or subject of this is ayana. By parayana, one crosses
the ocean of samsara, which is full of various difficulties. Iha samsare bahu dustare {this
world is full of dukhas}, said Jagadguru Sri Adi Sankaraacharya.
There are two reasons for Parayana.
The first is traditional: Family tradition:: The Datta cult families do the parayana daily at
home, as a daily routine. It is a duty. This is a family tradition of regualar puja devata
archana and Sri Guru Charitra parayana. It is meant for the welare of the whole family and
the society.
The second is for a specific purpose {kamya sidhi}. When some problem such as poverty,
serious ill health, life in danger, obstacles to a good cause like marriage, education, job,
house construction or desires, wishes and important requirements are to be dealt with,
when human efforts are not yielding results, to ward off the obstacles, divine grace blessings are necessary, Sri Guru Charitra Parayana is a trusted solution, remedy, treatment
and answer to the quest.
A note on Parayanas:
It is ancient belief, trust and sincere faith that parayana of a holy story, stanza, stuti, song or
mantra results in Success of any endeavour or enterprise.
Parayana of Srimad Ramayana, Maha Bharata, Bhagavata, Sundara Kanda, Aditya
Hrudaya, Guru Charitra, and Puranas like Siva, Skanda, Padma etc., and recitals of
Bhagavad Gita, Sri Sukta, Purusha Sukta, Rudram, Hanuman Chalisa, Devi Bhagavata or
Chandi path and such holy books, prayers, songs and slokas is a set of trusted remedies to
many human problems. It is an established fact. People from immemorial times have got
results and derived benefits. Today, we are seeing the results.
Duration: A Parayana for 7 , 14, 21, or 40, 48 days is usually common. Mandala diksha,
that is 40, 48 days of observance of dedicated service (seva), self imposition of restrictions
(yama niyama) to do parayana is a custom.
It is sadhana or practice for sanctification of body mind and soul.
As prescribed in Sri Guru Charitra itself, Saptaha (Sapta ahas means 7 days) parayana is a
seven day treat and this can be repeated again and again till the result comes ( prarabdham

leaves). This is in vogue. Some people join together and do Sapta saptaaham, 7 x 7 49
times reading to heart. According to ones own capacity, health, patience and resources,
Saptaham, 7 days sadhana is minimum seva duration.
Pre View Review of your desires:
Have a sincere, serious review before you want to ask for some thing to save you. Life is
full of dualities; joy - sorrow and likes - dislikes. Is there any one in this world without
problems? Just to get out of some difficulty / problem, you need not disturb Gods, without
tackling the problem. If you are confronted with dreadful events / pains / grief / others
inflictions on you, and if fate goes constantly against your life safety and you cannot do
any thing, then you must opt to seek for His help to save you. Surrender! Sri Guru saves
you.
Put forth your efforts first, understand thoroughly the problem; its possible avenues of
solution; work on those incessantly; have faith in yourself and patience; take the name of
God and perform your duties; wait and wait; if you cannot wait any more, then, go to
Ganagapur; have a dip in Papavinasam, have darshan of Sri Guru Padukas; encircle the
fig (Audumbara) tree and Aswatha tree; stay there tendering your request to the Guru. Cry
out for Him. Let Him listen first. Your yearning must be so intensive, earnest and deep
that He can hear you. Your prayer must reach Him. Go in to deep thoughts of Guru. Take
Him in to your heart. Tell Him that all your efforts have failed to yield result and say, I
am surrendering to you. Surrender to Him fully in thought, heart and deed really sincerely.
Dont think of any other God except Guru. Hand over your problem to Him. Do parayana
of Sri Guru Charitra. Let Sri Guru take His own time and decide; dont hasten. He will
certainly solve your problem.
If you cannot go to Ganagapur, dont worry, you can do it at home, in Dattatreya math or
SaiBaba temple. On preferably a Thursday start parayana.
Guidance for Saptaha Parayana
Plan 2 days in advance for purchase of all requirements. Check for market holidays. Select
the place of paarayana. For 7 days, daily you have to sit at the same place from the time
you start till 12 noon; you should not change the place day to day. Clean the room one
day in advance and keep it holy.
Select the time: Start preferably on Thursday: Check for auspicious time with tara balam,
Chandra balam, leaving Tyajyam, Varjyam, ganda kalam.{Month, Mudhami and other
astrological rules need not be considered in urgent cases emergency}
Procurement - Requirement of items:
Sri Guru Charitra book (Photo or small idol - statue Padukas ) flowers haldi Kumkum Chandan Gandh Sandal wood powders and Vibhuti bhasmam scent
fragrance drops - Cotton or Bathis Til Oil ghee - Dhoop Agarbathi cotton towel
Rice for akshatas.
Fruits: Coconuts - banana orange apple or fruits of the season - dry fruits.
Crystal sugar Green peas Kabul or local chana 11 betel leaves, 11 nuts 1 garland
Copper items: Kalasa, tumbler, Lota Spoon Udharin plate. Deepa stand or diva.
Thoram Red thread
Dress: Dhoti / Lungi / pyjama, towel or uttareeyam White / orange colour
Nivedana: Customary: Pure natural products, Chana or Kabul chana, Coconut, Milk,
Crystal sugar, green dal, Panakam, Roti, Puri, Pongal.
Optionals: Jaggery Sugar cooked Rice, Puliahara (lemon or tamarind cooked rice), Curd
rice, Pure rice, ghee, Curries, Home made Laddu, Vada, bajji, Appam,
Prohibition: market made items such as sweets, biscuits, cakes, ice creams, candies, bread,
mixtures should not be offered in Nivedana.

Important:
Keep the heart, mind, body and thoughts free, pure and fresh. Dont entertain any other matter
except Sri Guru, Parayana and Prayer.
Get up early before Sun rise, preferably at 4-30 a.m. daily; Perform parayana for 7 days with great
devotion.
Once you sit for parayana, you should not get up. So, keep things close by at your hands reach.
Free the mind from thoughts of worry, anxiety, displeasure, fatigue, anger, hatred on others,
intolerance and impatience. Be active, smiling cheerful calm and silent with purity peace and
auspicious positive attitude. Tender namaskarams and bow to Sri Guru at heart. During these 7
days, only lunch {after nivedana} should be taken and no dinner.Fruits milk or light tiffin, at night.
Sleep on floor with a blanket and not on cot and bed. No pillow. Keep your body pious. Keep your
heart clean, pious and open with decoration to invite Sri Guru at the right time. Think at heart,
your body is the temple and heart, the sanctum for Sri Guru. Once you have verified every thing is
in order, then only sit for paarayana.
Morning habits of Coffee, Tea and Tiffin:
As a rule, these are not allowed. However, Coffee - tea are exempted only till you bathe before
puja and there after you should not take any thing. Tiffin is totally not allowed.
Note:
If you donot know the correct procedure, you invite a Datta devotee Brahmin for the first day
Sankalpa puja and then you can do parayana yourself. Paarayana means reading with heart. This is
a 7 day spiritual power treat. Think that you are in Ganagapur and Guru Charitra book is your
Guru. Do not get up or talk during parayana time. Switch off cell phone. After completing the
days paarayana, offer Nivedana of water in one vessel and coconut - fruits / jaggery / or any pure
vegetarian food / dishes things to Sri Guru; take a spoonful of that tirth and prasadam; first you
take and then give to others. Have the nivedana as lunch with at least one guest, if possible. Do
your other duties of the day, but do not talk or listen unnecessarily to any body. Be truthful and
speak truth only. If possible, maintain mounam silence, without talking to any body.
In the evening, read - sing Bhajans or listen to good songs read books.
At night, again take bath and pray to Sri Guru. Think of Sri Guru only and not of others. Sleep on
floor mat and bed sheet, think of Gurus leelas, be positive that you are near to Sri Guru in a
state of bliss and happiness, with and by His Grace. Dont divert your thoughts from those of
Guru.
Continue this schedule keeping akhanda deepam. That light is Guru.

Details of Program
First Day Programme: Get up at 4-30 to 5- 00 a.m. After morning duties, bath, Sandhya
vandan, arrange the things properly in the puja room. If you have no puja room, on previous day
clean the North East corner of the room to do puja preferably at that corner facing East.
Take a full hair bath, be pure in mind and body, do not take tiffin, light up the Akhanda Deepam,
to last for 7 days and nights; you can regularly add til oil; look at Deepam and do aradhana, note in
mind, the Light is Sri Guru and you have started afresh your life from the past darkness and now
seeing divine light. Take water in two small vessels, vow to do parayana. Those who can afford
can use pure cow Ghee for Akhanda deepam. Til oil can be used.
Harati: After nivedana at noon and in the evening and night harati has to be given. It can be
given / done as many times as you wish.
Kalasam: Fill in with pure fresh water; add Gangajal, if available; put one betel nut, one coin, a
few rice grains, then a coconut on it surrounded by betel leaves. Decorate Kalasa with Haldi,
Gandh, Sandal paste and Kumkum.
Pray first to Sri Ganapati and Sarasvati. Then, from your heart tell to Sri Guru your Sat Sankalpa,
ie. Take a little water in hand, say what you want (in mind) in words and leave the water in to a
plate. Dont tell your desires or problems or Sankalpa to any one else, even to Pujari. Bow and
offer Namaskars to this book, Sri Guru Charitra (thinking you are saying pranams to Sri Guru).
Order of Puja: Deepa puja - Sri Ganapati puja - Sri Sarasvati puja puja to Guru
parampara - puja to Personal Ishta devata Parents and fore fathers Navagrahas puja to Sri Gurucharitra book , treating it as SriGuru Read the 1st days chapters of Sri Guru Charitra, perform nivedana, tambulam, harati and then take
prasadam. Daily nivedana should be offered. If possible, daily offer Biksha to a Brahmin. It is
custom that by12 noon, Nivedana Biksha are done.
Continue the parayana till the 7th day, checking regularly to top up oil in the Akhanda deepa.
7th day :
After parayana on the 7th day, please be generous. Do not be miser. Any one in economic troubles
need not struggle to spend money by borrowing. What one can afford has to be offered with full
heart, as Nivedana to God and that should be taken as Prasadam.
Offering to poor brahmins is of utmost value. It equals Biksha to Sri Guru.Great devotion (Bhakti)
with heart is very important and not the amount of money or show of puja decoration. Be kind; do

well as per your capacity. Dont get in to debts for this. Sri Guru is pleased you are sanctified
sins are smashed peace and pleasure usher in. Your job is done. Be in peace at heart.

If one views Sri Guru Charitra in the respective practical perspective, he

can see its light similar to that of Sri Bhagavad Gita, in a very simple but
colouful version, meant for the common man.
Sri Guru, although of an extremely very high caliber sanyasi, yogi, reformer
teacher and saviour, lived and exemplified simple living. Smarana
maatrena, just at the thought of Him, He responds. He is the existing giant
effulgent cosmic power.
Satpaha parayana is a traditional system of practice, Sadhana, a spiritual
power treat. It purifies body, mind, heart, soul and produces noble
thoughts to perform pious deeds for good life. It is a Kamya Vrata in tune
with human necessities, requirements, desires and wishes on the one
hand and Shanti kriya, warding off suffering, bondage and untimely
death, on the other. It is a panacea for all probems. It grants His Grace,
above all other desires.
Just as Sri Krishna in Sri Bhagavad Gita sloka xviii. 66 promised Moksham
to Arjuna (and all devotees too), Sri Guru promised Mukti (Moksham) to His

Namadharaka sees a yogi in dream
Om!
To describe the miracles of Sri Dattatreya swami, even the thousand tongues of Adi Sesha
are not adequate. Mercy of the Lord accomplishes every thing. Just the thought of Him grants His
mercy.
Sri Namadharaka Sarma
There was a virtuous Brahmin, Sri Namadharaka Sarma, hailing from Karnataka region. He came to
know of his ancestral Guru, Sri Narasimha Sarasvati and His miraculous powers. He was leading a
life of materialistic dualities and got fed up. The thought of having Sri Guru darshan sprang up
stirring in his mind repetedly. That led to severe impulses and he became frustrated yearning for
darshan just like a six months baby crying for mother. His mind was restless. That tremendous urge
brought him in mind to the thought of going to Ganagapur, the confluence of Bhima and Amaraja
rivers. All his endeavours did not put him in to action until one day when he abruptly stood up all of
a sudden in his house and put his foot affront and left his home. That was the real beginning in his
life to fulfill his cherished urge and strong desire to have Sri Guru darshan.
His mind was wavering unstable and mad for Sri Guru darshan. He prayed and prayed untiringly
Oh Guru! Grant me unshattered stable Bhakti, You are all pervading and shining in all life as Atma;
you are mother father friend family Guru God and all. My mind is at your lotus feet, I have no
other way, I am surrendering to you. Oh Guru! My mind is restless and disturbed; Grant me Your
darshan!. His mind was so serious, he did not have any other thought than that of Sri Guru darshan.
It was a cyclone in his mind.
His heart was yearning to see Sri Guru. He was fast walking in that forest and after a long journey,
tired physically, lost his balance, sat under a tree, lost his senses and fell asleep.
In that silent sleep, there was a marvellous dream, Sri Guru gave darshan as a Yogi. That was
Svapna darshan! In that dream, he prostrated to the Yogi and his soul seemed to have been
blessed.

Just Like the Bhagavad Gita, GC starts with Vishada yoga. Sri Krishna, narrates Dharma, Karma, Wisdom and then gives Upadesa to
the Jiva, Arjuna, on how to get out of the confronting mental conditions and get peace - Salvation, deliverance / Mukti (or Moksha), the
ultimate objective of Jiva to reach God,
Sri Guru Charitra narrates the tales of individuals, who, by virtue of Bhakti, devotion to Guru, get His Grace, the prime requisite to
Moksha, get their problems solved. That is not the end but the beginning on the path to Moksha.
Nama starts the journey to Ganagapur with anxiety and frustration on materialistic life, in search of mental peace, expecting it from Sri
Guru in Ganagapur.

Meeting of Namadharaka and Siddha Purusha

Namadharaka finds Yogi
Namadharaka woke up from that sleep. Remembered the dream with lucid recapitulation, retained
the picture of that yogi in dream, embedded in his mind stratum, wondered whether he could ever
see that yogi in real life. He started recapitulating the picture of that yogi, again and again, in the
woken up state and meditated on that svarupa [form] for some time. He wandered here and there on
all sides and finally to his surprise, he saw a Sadhu person
sitting under the Aswatha tree, looking exactly like the yogi in dream, wearing tiger skin loin,
orange cloth and with vibhuti lines on the forehead and Rudraksha mala around his neck.
Namadharaka was at peace to some extent and in ecstatic pleasure said: Svami! the sight of yours
swept away all my anxieties; peace unfelt before, is ushering in. Svami! Who are you? Where do
you reside?
The yogi, in a fine smile replied: I am the disciple of Sri Guru Narasimha Sarasvati. To reestablish
Dharma, Sri Dattatreya svami reincarnated as Narasimha Sarasvati. He is in Ganagapur to reform
and bless the devotees. I have no particular place of residence. I move on and on pilgrimages, where
ever Sri Guru naama japa smarana sounds, I am present there.
Namadharaka urged: I have not yet got His grace, I am begging to your holy feet, kindly get me His
Grace. Yogi replied, Sri Gurus grace shines every where, on all places, vibrates all over; the
deserving get vision. What is needed is Sraddha and Bhakti, you are in doubt and delusion
hence in search of His Grace.
Consoling Namadharaka, He assured, Dont get worried! Once Sri Gurus Grace reaches you, all
your delusion will disappear. Sri Guru Charitra is the first among those granting Moksha and

showed a book of palm leaves. Namadharaka saw Sidha holding the book and then sought for
upadesa of Sri Guru Charitra.
Sidha sensed the mind of Nama and took him to the nearby Asvatha tree, sat there and told You
have devotion to Sri Guru, but with doubts, you must have unshakable stable bhakti and faith with
full sense control
In the BG Sri Krishna, the Guru in the Bhagavad Gita, only when Arjuna said,

means, I am your disciple, I surrender to you, order me! ; then only, Sri Krishna opened His
voice to teach as Guru. When one yearns, cries and surrenders, divine Grace showers in. When
this will happen, we do not know. In the interest of a devotee, God creates some difficulties,
problems and sufferings so that the devotee will direct his mind towards God and surrenders. Not
knowing the help God does, we blame Him. To be blessed with some difficulty - suffering, thereby
getting in to devotional and philanthropic road, meeting and consulting philosophers, Gurus,
getting Praarabdha experienced, is all what one has to appreciate as coming nearer to God- that
is Upa nayanam and upa vasam.
Sri Krishna gave Upadesam of BG to Arjuna and Sidha did so of GC to Nama, in this. It started with the salient points in Brahma
Vaivarta Maha Puranam ( BVMP).
Upadesa of Sri Guru Charitra

Sidha to Nama
Namadharaka requested Sidha to tell:: How Gurus Grace is bestowed? Yogi told, I will tell you the
Greatness of Sri Guru, mentioned in Sri Brahma Vaivarta Maha Puranam, by Maharshi Veda
Vyasa.
As per Sri MahaVishnus orders, Brahma started making - writing Creation. He divided time, in
cycles of 4 yugas: Kruta, Treta, Dvapara and Kali. He told Kruta, Go to the earth and propagate
Dharma. Kruta asked How to deal with the disorderly people on the earth, I do not like to be
contaminated; then Brahma ordered: stay till Treta comes! So, he went. Kruta yuga was in full
order of Dharma. Brahma then called Treta and asked him to go to the earth and maintain Yagas, see
Havis will reach devatas. After some time, Brahma called Dwapara, [who was an admix of Virtues
and Sins] and asked him to go to the earth. He went accordingly. Finally, Kali was called upon to go.

He asked Brahma The earth is the field of Karma and Yoga; how is it possible to enter, when the
yogis mahatmas will punish me on seeing me entering the earth? I am scared to enter the earth;
show me some way!. Then Brahma instructed, Oh! Kali, You enter in to the basic instincts of
people, since people aspire for easy life of enjoyment in Kali yuga, not caring for Vedic Dharmas.
Due to short life span of 100 years in Kali yuga, humans cannot bear even small difficulties. Do not
touch the righteous, the devotees of Guru and God since they are backed by the powers of Guru,
Siva and Vishnu.
Then, Kali asked Brahma: Who is Guru and what is Guru Bhakti?
Ga , Ra and Vu sounds joined together is Guruvu. Ga indicates Ganapati, Ra Agni and Vu
Vishnu respectively. This trio, Ganapati, Agni and Vishnu in one form is Guru, the Master, who
grants incessant permanent Bliss. Father and Mother grant the physical body, which is a boon to
perform Karma and Yoga. But the body is perishable, where as the Gurus grant is not perishable; it
is eternal permanent path finding knowledge to reach God and be ever in Bliss.

The nature of gunas in Kali yuga are stated to warn people to be careful and approach a Guru.

The Story of Deepaka:
Guru Bhakti
On the banks of Godavari river, in Maharshi Angirasas ashram, a sage, Veda Dharmudu (son of
Paila maharshi) was teaching. Among his disciples there was one Deepaka. He was very sincere in
service to Guru and was never praying to any God nor doing nama japa. One day, Guru told the
disciples that he wanted to go to Kaasi to experience Praarabda phala (leprosy). He wanted one, who
can look after him bearing ugly leprosy. Deepaka immediately volunteered and went with him. Life
was terribly unpleasant with unbearable foul body odour from his Guru and his angry attitude. Yet,
Deepaka was serving him patiently. Time passed on.
The Lord of Kaasi, Viswanadha, impressed by the boys devotion - service to his Guru came and
wanted to give boons. The boy asked Siva to wait and rushed to his Guru. He sought his instructions
as to what boon to be asked. Guru got terrible anger and chided him: I want myself to experience

Praarabdha papaphala to get Vimukti and you want me to escape by Gods grace? You fool ! Karma
phala cannot be nullified nor transferred. Deepaka returned to Siva and refused to ask for any boon.
Wondered at this, Siva went to Vaikuntham and told Sri Vishnu of Deepakas Guru Bhakti. Vishnu
rushed to Deepaka to grant boons. The boy politely said, Yogies crave for Your Darshan in
meditation for generations but You would not grant and why You are offering boons to me? What
ever you would grant can also be given by my Guru; so, please go to the Yogies, who are yearning
for You. Vishnu said, He would not go back without giving boons. Finding the situation tough,
Deepaka urged Please grant me unswerved Guru Bhakti even in adverse conditions.. Vishnu was
highly pleased saying: Deepaka! Lord Siva, Me and your Guru are One and so is that shining
chaitanya in all life / beings irrespective of names and forms; Service to parents, Guru or husband
and others reach Me only; Karma is Para Brahma Svarupam.
Guru Veda Dharmudu (in disguise as leper) was very much pleased and granted true knowledge to
Deepaka, asked him to stay in Kaasi to teach others and blessed him:
One who utters Deepakas name, gets freed from all diseases and ill health,
specially leprosy skin diseases and will lead spiritual life in Kaasi.
Brahma told Kali not to look at devotees of Guru. Such greatness is in Guru Bhakti. It brings Gods
in to the fore front. Then, Kali left to operate his job given by Brahma, as his turn of time came.
Siddha remarked to Namadharaka: Whoever serves Guru as God, with intense devotion, all the
devatas Gods come at his disposal.

The requirement of Bhakti towards Guru and God is enunciated.
Deepaka:
Maya paasa Moha samsara bandham of husband and wife is a mutual agreement.
The adhyatmic bond of Guru Sishya is also a mutually agreeable one.
If one does not like, there is no Guru sishya.

Root cause for Sri Maha Vishnus Dasaavatarams:

Then Siddha Yogi further said:
King Ambareesha, a devotee of Sri Maha Vishnu observes Ekadasi vratam. Once, Durvasa
mahamuni went on Dwadasi to the king. He was received with honour and invited for lunch. Muni,
with his disciples went to river to take bath. Dwadasi duration was about to end but the Muni did not
return. The King prayed to God Vishnu, for advice.He then got an idea to sip a drop of water to
complete the vrata and so he did. Durvasa, by then reached and got angry on the king for sipping
water without offering lunch to him.He took mantra jala cursing Ten mean births of Fish, Pig, man46
lion etc., (means living-wandering without an abode) and before he could complete and sprinkle the
water on the king, God Vishnu came before the muni and said Kings mind, heart and all his body
were immersed in Me and at no fault of his, rather I am and hence give that shapam (curse) to me
and not to the king..
Durvasa, startled, afraid and went in to long distant vision.
Lord Vishnu is not easily available; His vatsalya (love and affection) to His devotees is immense; if
such God wanders on the earth, devotees will be benefited in Kali yuga. Saving the king, muni
sprinkled that mantra jala water on God Vishnu.
Due to the curse, God Vishnu incarnated ten times. This apart, many more incarnations took place.
Sri Dattatreya svami, Sripada Sri Vallabha, Sri Nrusimha Saraswati etc. are such avtaras.

The importance of Ekadasi vratam and the strange words and curses of Maharshies is given here. Sri Vishnu, the God as Manas
and His avtaras amsas as tools, man has to interpret life as manifestation of God and Vratas as invitation to God.

Namadhara earnestly asked:
God is devoid of name, form and qualities (gunas). Yogis after long tapas get immersed in such
formless God, why then Sri Guru is in saguna physical form?
Sidha said: to set right Dharma, protect devotees and punish (reform) evil doers, God takes various
forms. He then told a story citing the reasons for Gods incarnation.

World Creation - Prajapatis - Nine famous couples ..

Before the world creation, it was all water, space and nothing else. On that water, Sri Maha Vishnu
was in yoga sleep over peepul leaf. Brahma evolved from his navel. He was asked to start creation;
but He could not; He was given upadesa of Ashtakshari Om Namo Narayanaya. He could then
start creation.
Jitendriyas Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatkumara, Sanat generation evolved first and when they were
asked to go ahead for creation; they did not obey. From Brahmas anger, Rudra evolved. Then,
Brahma generated from his body ten persons: Daksha, Narada, Pulaha, Bhrugu, Kratu, Angirasa,
Vasishta, Mareechi, Atri, and many Prajapatis.
Once a rushi Kardama was in tapas on the banks of Sarasvati river. Sri Vishnu came and asked him
to marry Devahuti, the daughter of Svayambhuva Manu and his wife Satarupa, saying 9 daughters

and a son would be born. He would be his son, Kapila. Kardama obliged. Kardamas 9 daughters
were married to Maharshis. They are:
The nine famous couples:
(1) Kala Mareechi (2) Anasuya Atri (3) Sraddha Angirasa (4) Havirbhuvu Pulastya (5) Gati
Pulahudu (6) Kriya Kratu (7) Khyati Bhruguvu (8) Arundhati Vasishta and (9) Santi
Adhvarudu.
Among them, Anasuya became very famous by her virtues, beauty, manners, devotion to husband
and eminence in gruhasta dharma etc. Atri maharshi and Anasuya were leading happy dharmic life
in their ashram. Indra and other gods were enviously wondering how Anasuya was so powerfully
famous. They went to tri murties and expressed the fear of the Saadhvi Anasuya and her virtuous
powers. The trio said they would look in to.

The natural system of life in this world is creation of family; marriage of male and female persons; sancity, mutual service and
affection between husband and wife; jealosy of evil forces / persons.

Story of Anasuya
Brahma, Vishnu and Siva turned in to babies
..
In the absence of Atri maharshi, Trimurties went in disguise to his ashram. His wife, Anasuya
welcomed them and invited for lunch. The trio took bath in river and returned. Anasuya was
arranging to serve food. They told her of their special custom that Food should be served without
dress on her body; other wise, they would relish fasting. This peculiar condition being strange, she
thought deeply with patience. These guests are not ordinary people; if at all they wanted only food,
such heinous condition would not be imposed. She prayed to God, This is a tough test! Grant me
vision of the trio and the power of mother child feelings to serve them food! Lo! It was granted.
She understood Brahma, Vishnu and Siva came to test her. She undressed and took the food items to
the serving hall and wonder struck her to find three babies instead of Trimurties. The babies were
crying. She served milk and cradled them.
By then, Atri Maharshi returned home. Finding cloth cradles and babies, he went in to deep thought
(meditation); and grasped what had happened. The couple was happy enjoying the pleasure of
having the babies in home.

In a few moments, the Trio got out of the cradles, assumed their real forms of Brahma, Vishnu and
Siva, blessed Atri - Anasuya couple that their fame would go beyond eras of times and asked them to
seek for any boon. They prayed: the happiness they derived from the trio as babies in cradles in their
home, is unforgettable; so, give such pleasure of becoming their real children. The trio granted that
boon.
Atri Anasuya
3 children, Doorvasa, Dattatreya and Chandrudu - were born
In course of time, three children were born to them; Doorvasa, Dattatreya and Chandra from the
amsas (root power origins) of Siva, Vishnu and Brahma respectively.Thus, Atri Anasuya were
happy with these children. But, after upanayana, Doorvasa transmitted his amsa to Dattatreya and
left for penance. Chandrudu too transferred his amsa to Dattatreya and left for Lunar base.
Dattatreya is Sri Maha Vishnu
Dattatreya with the three latent features stayed for some time with parents and sought permission to
take Sanyasa. Atri Anasuya first refused in grief and later agreed. He assured His mother, He
would be present before her on just a call (smarana). He then left to reform the society and fulfill the
desires of devotees.
This is how trimurties were embodied in to one, Sri Dattatreya.

Guru Sri Dattatreya Svami continues to exist on this earth
Thus, Siddha told Namadharaka of the incarnation. Unlike other Gods, who incarnate and go back to
their origin after the mission is over, Sri Dattatreya Svami continues to exist on this earth to fulfill
the desires of His devotees.
In Srimad Ramayana, Maharshi VisvaMitra wanted to perform Yagjna and to ward off evils obstacles, he went to have Rama with him. The Lord performed various deeds fulfilling the wishes
of devatas and His devotees, killed the evil (Ravana) established the law of Dharma and returned to
Vaikuntha. Sri Krishna and other avatars returned to Vaikuntha after manifestation. But, the avtar of
Dattatreya is not so terminated, as it is intended to protect His devotees so long as life exists on the
earth. He incarnates and incarnates, one after the other in human form, as Sri Guru. That is how He
incarnated as Sripada and Nrusimha Sarasvati.

The power of chastity and service to spouce is Pativrata - bharta dharmam order. It is for both husband and wife. Such couples will
be given Gods darshan (Grace) and blessed with godly children.

Sri Dattatreya incarnates as Sripada SriVallabha

In Peethikapuram (Pithapuram) village of East Godavari district, in Andhra Pradesh, a Datta devotee
couple, Sri Appala Raja Sarma and Sumati lived with two sons, one lame and the other blind.
On Mahalaya Amavasya ancestral ceremony (Shraaddha) day, at noon a Sadhu came for Biksha to
their house. Custom does not allow offering Biksha on that day. Brahmins did not sit for lunch. The
incandescence radiating from the Sadhu prompted her, the thought that Dattatreya Svami wanders
at noon in disguise for Biksha, and the Sadhu was none other than Dattatreya. With motherly
affection of full heart, Sumati offered food to Him. Leaving Sadhu rupa (figure, posture), He showed
her His Visvarupa as Sri Dattatreya saying: Oh! Mother ! you gave Me food on this day, seek for a
boon. She said: I have two sons, both disabled and seek for an intelligent, virtuous, respected and
great son like You to which He said: You called me Mother, and blessed her so, warned she should
not refuse the words of that son, otherwise, the son would go away.When she agreed, He told I
will take birth as your son.
She narrated this incident to her husband. Dattatreya Svami wanders in Maahuram, Karaveeram
(Kolhapur) and Paanchalesvar. In what guise He comes to bless devotees is unimaginable and
therefore, we have to offer food at noon to who ever comes to our door, with great devotion.

He was pleased that the Sadhu was fed by his wife., though it was against Sraaddha custom, on that
day.
In course of time, Sumati became pregnant and delivered a boy. Date of birth: 25-5-1336 Friday
before Sunrise; early morning Ushas time before Sunrise: The boys body possessed auspicious
symbols and Sankhu Chakra on feet. Therefore, he was named, Sripada. He was showing wonders
of nature as a child. In his 8th year, Upanayanam was performed. He learnt four 4 Vedas and all
Upanishads. On his 16th year, his parents were looking for a girl to perform marriage. Sripada told
them that all the girls / women were mothers to Him and as He loved to marry Moksha Laxmi,
renunciating the material world, He would be known as Sri Vallabha. He sought their permission to
take Sanyasa. They lamented for his decision and explained the lame and blind sons would be of no
use and Sripada should drop his idea.
Restoring legs to his one elder brother and eye sight to the other elder brother, He turned them both
physically fit and normal and by touching their heads turned them in to active Vedic pandits. He
blessed the house with perennial prosperity.
Then, He sought permission from His mother to take Sanyasa. He was only 16 yrs. at that time. She
could not say, No; but she wanted him to stay for a little more time. He obliged and later left home
with her consent.
What a radiating incandescence the boy was transmitting! He had renunciated the material pleasures.
He is Sripada Sri Vallabha, the divine avtar of Dattatreya Svami.
After leaving Pithapuram, He went on pilgrimage to find Guru and visited Dwaraka, Brindavan,
Madhura, Kedarnadh and Badarika Ashram, met Nara Narayana; with those blessings went to
Gokarna.
Digambara, Digambara, Sripada Vallabha Digambara!

The concept and purpose of pitru sraddha to beget godly children is latent. Mankind has to be kind towards any one coming for alms
at noon. God comes in that form even as a begger. People forget this to understand. This is a reminder.
In rare cases, God comes in to holy couples homes. Sripada is Sri Datta avatar.

6. The story of Ravana, Atma linga and Gokarna Mahabalesvara Kshetram

6. Hearing Gokarna sound, Namadharaka requested Siddha to tell him why Guru Sripada specifically
went to Gokarna, while Kaasi, Prayaga etc. were considered generally as holy places. Siddha
narrated an incident of the past: Puraana History:
Ravana Brahma was the king of golden kingdom Lanka. His mother used to pray to Parthiva
(earthen) Linga of Siva.Ravana wanted to gift Kailasa, the abode of Lord Siva to his mother. He
went to Himalayas, shook and lifted Kailasa. The earth was disturbed from equilibrium. Devatas
prayed to Siva to balance Kailasa. Siva pressed Kailasa mountain with his foot and Ravana was
stuck underneath. Ravana was still enchanting Siva mantras untiringly. The pleased Siva lifted his
foot and started dancing, tandava nrutya, in ecstacy, responding to Ravanas prayers. Devatas
prayed again, Dont allow Kailasa to be taken away by Ravana. Pleased with both Ravana and
devatas as well, Siva gave His Atma linga to Ravana, saying it is more powerful than Kailasa and
convenient for carrying, praying and meditation. Ravana happily agreed and took. Siva warned him
not to keep it on the earth. Gods did not like this gesture of Siva. They planned to get back Siva
Atma Linga to Kailasa. They prayed to Lord Ganesa, who agreed to carry out the job.
Ravana was returning to Lanka with Atma lingam at mano vega (the speed of mind). When it was
evening, Ganesa reached the western sea shore (Konkan - Goa) in the disguise of a lad
(brahmachari) and asked Ravana why he was flying at Sunset Sandhya time. Thanking him for
reminding time, Ravana got down to the shore for offering arghyam to the Sun god.
He requested the boy to hold safe the Atma linga for a while. The boy (Ganesa) took Atma Lingam
and told Ravana: the weight of the lingam was very heavy and difficult to hold, and warned, when
he would be unable to hold it any further, then, he would call on him thrice and by then, if Ravana
would not come and take back the lingam, he would leave it on the ground. Ravana said No! I
would finish Sandhya vandan fast and take back the Lingam.But the boy repeated, firmly, after
calling him thrice, he would put the linga on ground. Ravana had to inevitably agree to the strict
condition of Ganesa.
Ravana Ravana was offering arghyam to Surya and as per the plan of gods, Ganesa uttered Ravana
Ravana Ravana and left the lingam on the ground. Fast ran back Ravana to find the Lingam
earthened and got stuck in. He tried and tried in vain to lift up the Lingam. Due to the pressure, the
area got twisted in to the shape of cows ear (Gokarna). He got angry on the impatience of the boy.
Realising the incident as an act of God, he prayed to Lord Siva in the pious earthened Atma Lingam
on the ground and left for Lanka.This Lingam is called Mahabaleswar. And the place, GoKarna.

Neither Ravana nor the gods could take out the earthened Lingam. The site got powerfully charged
with the great energy of Siva in His Atma Lingam. The land on the sea shore is in the shape of
cows ear and hence known as Gokarna. Gods and rishis regularly come here to pray to this holy
shrine. Devotees stay here to get their sins vanished.
Siddha told Namadharaka that those who visit this holy place get purified from sins and reach Siva
saayujyam.
There are certain holy places on this earth. The stay service and prayers at those places gives Luck warding off papams.
Sarpa and manushya curses exist. Dividing good couples and families or causing problems to them is a maha papam - great sin.. On
repentence and undergoing praarabdham, if one stays in holy places, he will be freed from suh doshams.

Gokarna Mahatmyam
Siddha then narrated the follwing stories to Namadharaka:
History:
7. King Mitranahusha once went to forest for hunting and killed a demon. The demons brother, in
disguise of a cook, later went to the king and started working in kings palace, incognito.
For a Sraddha day, the king invited sage Vasistha and other elders. This cook, purposely, served
human meat to them on that day. They got angry on the king and cursed him to suffer as a demon in
forest for 12 years.
The king got annoyed as to Rishis cursing for the deed of the cook. He too wanted to instill curse on
Rishi. The queen stopped the king to cool down. Obliging her, the king sprinkled that mantra jal on
his own feet, as a praayaschittam (repentance) to what had happened and feeling responsibility to the
incident. His feet got burnt with the cursing water [mantra jala]. His feet turned black due to burns
and so he was called Kalmashapaada.
Due to Vasishtas curse, the king was wandering as a demon in the forest. Once the king demon was
very hungry. He saw a Brahmin couple going in the forest. He killed the Brahmin due to severe
hunger and ate. The wife of the Brahmin angrily cursed:Oh king ! on regaining human form, you
will perish by union with your wife! The king heard it.
After 12 years the king demon regained human form but was afraid of the curse of Brahmins wife.
Restless, he undertook pilgrimage along with the queen, not uniting with her. They went to
Gouthama maharshi and sought remedy to the curse.
The maharshi advised: Go to Gokarna! All the stones there are holy Shiva lingas. It is a powerful
pious place to cure all evils and curses. 33 crore devatas pray to Mahabaleswar at Gokarna. Doing

Tapas here grants anima siddhis. This is Kailasa on the earth.The colour of Sivalinga here is white in
Kruta, red in Treta, yellow in Dwapara and black in Kali yugas, respectively.He told the royal
couple, the incident happened on the earlier Sivaratri, when He was in Gokarna. People of several
walks of life, devotees, thieves and vesyas (harlots) were there. After praying to Mahabaleswar,
Maharshi retired under a tree.
Sivaratri and beggar womans story
He saw a chandala woman beggars body (corpse of unholy lady) was being taken away by Siva
dutas. He got the flash back of her earlier life. It is this:
She was a brahmins daughter in her previous life, living some where else. She lost her husband in
childhood. Her lust and passion for men turned her in to a harlot to a wealthy business man and she
got addicted to vices. One night, under intoxication, she killed a calf, thinking it to be goat, cooked
and ate it. She died and suffered hell in that life.
In next life, she was a blind chandala destitute leper beggar. Due to old age, she was sunk and ugly
and fortunately reached Gokarna. There came the end of praarabdha. Her repentance
brought Lord Sivas mercy. Due to starving for several days, she became sick and weak.
On that day, she could not even get water to drink. The sounds of Rudram chanted by Vedic pandits
were resounding the whole Gokarma. A pilgrim placed bel leaves in her begging bowl, as it was
Sivaratri day. The beggar lady was in frustration, hungry and sad. Being blind, she threw away those
leaves and they fell on a near by stone Siva Linga. She wept in hunger and tears. Unable to walk
further she fell down. The resounds of Rudram generated repentance and frustration on life; brought
out tears in stream, washing the leaves and the stone linga there. She died. A miracle happened then.
That was Siva Ratri and the leaves were bel leaves; the sounds she heard were Rudram; she starved
and fasted not by desire but by compulsion.Yet, unknowingly, despite her unchaste bad past karmas,
maha punya embraced her. Sivas Mercy showered on her. She was purified from all her sins, got
vimukti (deliverance) from praarabdha as well as Sanchita karmas and acquired maha punya too,
due to being in Gokarna, the holy place for mukti. Sivas attendants came and took her sanctified
soul to Kailasa. The flash ended. Such is the great power of Gokarna, Maharshi told the royal
couple, said Siddha to Namadharaka.
The royal couple went to Gokarna, in austerity prayed to Mahabalesvar Shiva Lingam and got rid of
the curse of brahmins wife. They went back to their kingdom, and led the life of husband and wife,
for a long time happily.

Siddha said: therefore, Sripada Sri Vallabha Svami stayed here for 3 years. He blessed the devotees
there. Namadharaka, hearing these incidents from Siddha on the power of greatness of Gokarna
became very curious and enthusiastic.

Namadharaka asked After leaving Gokarna, where did Sripada Guru go to?
Siddha said: Svami went to Srisailam and observed Chaturmasam. From there, after 4 months, he
left for Kurupuram also called Kurgandi 20 km. from Raichur in Karnataka.
History:

8. In Kurupuram village, a Vedic pandit was living with his wife Susila. For long, they did not get
children. After many pujas, prayers and vratas, they got a son, who was mentally retarded. At the age
of 8, the boy was initiated in to Upanayanam of holy Gayatri. Illiterate, dull and dormant boy was
unable to recite the mantra properly. In grief, Pandit died. His wife and son started living on
begging. The villagers were insulting the boy chiding better to drown in the river rather than
showing face. Fed up with such words, one day the boy told his mother in grief that life was
already miserable and he would not like to lead as such and therefore would drown * in the Krishna
river. She remarked: Without you, why should I live?
They went to river and were about to jump * into the water.
Guru Sripada taking bath saw them. He stopped shouting at them.The boy and his mother, on seeing
Svami, got some positive strength of hope. They narrated their life condition. Svami remarked: by
drowning, you are adding more sins to the existing ones; Atma hatya [suicide] results in Brahma
hatya dosham (sin); so dont do that.
He told Susila, rather, you do Siva puja. In the next life, you will get a good son. Lord Siva will
come as your son.
Anxiously, Susila asked Guru Sripada, whether any one got such benefit.

In such cases of facing insult, frustration and disgust, even when the inexperienced young people fall in to delusion, the
elders should avert such ideas by giving hope and positive thoughts enabling and energizing to avert suicidal negative
mentality. Change of place and taking advice are necessary.

* In critical dangerous situations / conditions, when ones life or honour is threatened, he must not get in to panic. He
must use his brain and intelligence to try to get out of the problem by seeking for help. He should not be silent and
inactive. Life is for living full life.
There is a proverb: Yeti jivantam Anando naram Varsha satadh api !! Sundara kaanda 34.6
Many plans are usually thought of for achievement in life and people cannot get them fulfilled. By the time
they arrive half the way, life finishes. So, full life is necessary. Man must be alive to cherish his wishes of the
plans. Yeti jivantam Anando naram Varsha satadh api !!
In this context, the proverb uttered by Sita devi in Ramayanas Sundara kaanda sarga 34.6 is relevant. Despite
being in all troubles, harassment and subjected to hell of cruelty, man must try to live full life (and midway
should not short cut life).
Sita devi thought of suicide after Ravana threatened to kill her, giving two months time to decide on his proposal. When Hanuman
went to her and informed about Sri Rama and Lakshmana she uttered [and declared this proverb to be true these words]:
Kalyani bata gadheyam loukikee prati bhati ma! Yeti jivantam Anando naram Varsha satadh api !! .. Sundara Kaanda 34.6

King Chandrasena Story:

Then, Sripada Guru gave a historical incident:
Ujjain king, Chandrasena had a friend, Manibhadra. They were devotees of Siva. Pleased with them,
Siva gifted a Gem, Chintamani to Manibhadra. This news spread out and several kings tried to
invade the kingdom, but as the kingdom was full of devotees to Siva, the enemy kings were unable
to enter in.
On one Saturday evening, the king and his friend were performing Sani Pradosha Siva puja. People
also performed Siva puja in front their houses. A cowherd boy, fascinated by that, made a model
temple of gravel. Closing his eyes he was in meditation. As it was dinner time, his mother called but
the boy did not hear. She slapped him and threw off the gravel temple. His meditation got disturbed.
He cried and fell unconscious, seeing the collapse of his temple.
Lord Siva, heard his cry, pleased with his devotion and came there. He raised him up and created a
beautiful golden Siva temple. The Siva linga was shining there; the boy requested Siva to pardon his
mother. Siva said: your devotion pleased Me and you will reach Me in eternity; your mother will
beget a good son of Vishnus stature in her next life!
By then, the enemy kings entered in to Ujjain, witnessed the incidents and splendour of
Siva linga. Sivas Mercy opened their senses, turned them in to Siva devotees. All the kings became
friends. They offered a lot of gold and wealth to the boy and his mother.
The boys mother took birth, in her next life as Yashoda, called as mother by Lord Krishna.

After citing this incident, Svami told Susila:
Since no good deeds were done by you in previous life, you did not get good son
She humbly enquired, even in the next life, how it would be possible for me to get a good son, with
my praarabdha?
Lord Sripada told her: Siva puja in Pradosha sandhya, the praarabdha gets burnt.
Sani Pradosha Siva Puja
.
Prayer in the evening Sandhya time to Lord Siva by performing Abhishekam is called Pradosha
puja. When Trayodasi is on a Saturday evening, it is called Sani trayodasi. Siva puja at that time
pleases Lords Siva and Saneeswara both and hence very powerful to nullify sins fast and grant
boons. Bel (Bilva or maaredu) leaves and Abhishekam are very dear to Siva.
Like wise, puja with bel leaves pleases Ganesha, Lakshmi and Vishnu. Tulasi puja pleases Vishnu,
Rama, Krishna and Lakshmi.

Susila humbly enquired Swami what about this life with the boy?
Sripada Guru kept his hand on him and blessed. The boy became a Veda pandit.
Svamiji uttered these words: Now you have no worry about him; you do Siva puja life long, you
will get a son of my stature in next life.
Susila and her son returned home and started Pradosha puja. She performed Siva puja life long.
The importance of Prayers Siva puja = Rudraabhishekam
After Susila and her son left ashram, the lord Sripada thought: There is no one else of my stature in
the worlds. I assured the woman, Susila of a son of my stature in her next life. I must therefore take
another birth to keep the word true.
{Sripada Svami became invisiblesaid Siddha to Namadharaka. According to another school of Datta traditional
concept, He went in to Samadhi in Kurupuram1350}

History:
9. In Kuruvapuram a washer man Rajaka used to pray daily to Sripada svami at heart and then start his
work. It was his routine. One day Sripada Guru asked his desire and he said, he wished to be in
Ashram. Kind Guru permitted. One day, Rajaka went to Krishna river to fetch water and got
immersed in the site of a muslim king enjoying with family in the sailing boat. Grasping his mind,
Sripada Guru blessed him to become a king in next life. Rajaka requested to bestow devotion to
Sripada Guru in next life also. He blessed him so.
Sripada Guru left His paadukas in the Math and relinquished his body.
Sri Sripada Sri Vallabha Guru leaves His holy body

Sri Guru Svami Sripada Sri Vallabha left His holy physical body on Asviyuja Suddha Dwadasi in
Hasta star in Kurupuram (Kuruvapuram / Kurungadda) 1350
Even now, if one earnestly prays in Kurupuram, His spiritual Grace fulfills devotees desires.
If one does meditation for 3 days and nights, it is said, Guru Sripada will grant His darshan. His
paadukas represent His spiritual presence in the math.

Sripada Gurus presence after leaving His body

Vallabheswars life revived - Gurus Grace
.
10. A turmeric merchant, Vallabheswar used to visit Kurupuram every year to pray to Sripada Guru.
Before starting a new business venture, he vowed, if he would get profit, he would feed 4000
Brahmins in Kurupuram. He got profit. With that money he was going to Kurupuram to fulfill his
vow. On the way, four people joined him. They were robbers in disguise. He did not know that. They
had to pass through a forest and in the night, slept at a retiring place. The robbers beat him with
sticks and took his money from his bag. He prayed at heart to Guru Sripada Svami. Vallabheswars
head was cut off by the robbers and he died.
Guru Sripada came with trident (trishul) and killed the robbers. One of the four prayed for Mercy, as
he did not join the robbers in the barbarous act.
Svami asked him to join the head and trunk of the dead body of Vallabheswar. He did so. Then,
Svami gave Vibhuti and asked him to spray on the dead body. He did. Then, Svami sprinkled holy
water from His kamandalu and disappeared, bringing life back in to the dead body of Vallabheswar.
Though He left His body, Sripada Guru saved Vallabheswar invisibly.

Vallabheswar got up alive. Seeing the dead bodies around, he wept in acknowledgement to Svamis
mercy for saving his life. He felt, the man around him luckily had darshan of the lord, while he
missed. He reached Kurupuram and fed 4000 brahmins, completing his vow.
Guru Sripada Svami did many such wonders in subtle form.
Once the mission of avatar is over, God or Guru relinquishes human form.
Guru Sripada grants darshan also, to the deserving devotees, even now, (though transformed in to
the avtar of Nrusimha Sarasvati). It is said: Light an akhanda Jyoti and meditate on Sri Guru
Sripada Svami for three days and nights continuously. Sure He will grant darshan .
Just by smarana of his divine name, He responds
Digambara, Digambara, Avadhota chinta Digambara!!
His grace can be felt, wherever the devotee may be.
Dwadasa Abhayams of Svami Sripada Sri Vallabha :
1. I am in subtle form at the place of My Charitra Parayana

2. I protect those who surrendered to Me.
3. I seek Biksha at noon in Pithapuram.
4. I destroy the Karmas of all lives My devotees.
5. I get pleased with poor feeding.
6. Sri MahaLakshmi shines in My devotees homes rendering Full Prosperity.
7. I stay always in the pure hearts of My devotees.
8. Your devotion to any god or Guru is acceptable to Me.
9. I grant boons through your god or Guru, as all your prayers reach Me only.
10. By anushthanam (profound meditation) you can envision My virat (cosmic) form.
11. Yogis and Siddhas are My iota.
12. My dependents are shown the right path! I always protect My devotees from fall !

Siddha continued:
Past History:
Earlier, Lord Guru Sripada svami advised the woman Susila to perform Siva puja [in chapter9], and
she did life long. She took birth as Ambika Bhavani in Karanja city in North India in a holy Brahmin
family. She was married to Madhava Sarma and got a son, who uttered Om Om at birth and never
never cried. He was silent and dumb. It was Poushya Suddha Vidiya 1380 A,D. Nrusimha
Sarasvati avataram. The child was named Narahari. His mother was not having milk. When the
child touched her breast, milk started flowing. When the child touched an iron rod, it became gold.
Astrologers said the child had Saraswati on his tongue, Adi Sakti in heart, Lakshmi in hands and
predicted Him a future sanyasi with divine mission to bless humanity. Even at the age of 3 he
could (did) not speak. Narahari signaled parents to perform upanayanam. On upadesa of Gayatri
mantra, He recited it amd when mother offered Biksha, He chanted 3 Vedas. Narahari declared to
renounce and become Sanyasi. Parents objected to such thoughts. Then, He gave spiritual light of
knowledge to his mother and asked her to meditate on Him. He gave her smruti (memory) of her
previous life.She saw deep at Narahari and his latent radiance.

Guru Sripada takes birth as Narahari .

She then realized Narahari was Guru Sripada who prescribed Siva puja and blessed her in the
previous life in these words: Now you can do Siva puja life long, you will get a son of my stature
in next life.
She was really happy at it and also in grief for His decision. Narahari consoled her saying, Let me
do my mission, having born as your son!
He blessed she would beget 4 more children in due course. She asked him to stay for some more
time. He stayed till his mother delivered twin children. He told her: two more sons and one daughter
would be borne. Please allow me to take Sanyasa and start service to humanity. She could not deny.
He told he would meet her after 21 years; yet, On the thought of Him He would present Himself.
With mothers consent, Narahari left to take up Sanyasam.

Sanyasam of Narahari
.
[Sanyasam means sacrificing all desires and concentrating on God. From child hood one should start sadhana of sanyasam, since
death is not known. Therefore, one should not wait till old age. Attachments to body must be left out; wife children are replicas of dues
debts attached. Sanyasa tradition demands very tough stringent restraints and one should not hurriedly think of Sanyasa. He
should consult real Gurus and Sanyasis before proceeding further. If mother does not consent, Sanyasam cannot and should not be
taken up.This is rule.] It
is not easy to undertake Sanyasa, without knowing the implications. It is a tough
life. No one should hurriedly take it up.

Narahari left parents and went to Badarikaashram. His age was then less than 10 years. From there,
he went to Kaasi on thought of it (mano vega) and saw Sri Krishna Ananda Sarasvati Svami
yati{Mathaadhipati of Shringeri peeth}. He became his disciple. Guru gave Sanyasa Deeksha to Narahari
and ashrama nama, Narasimha Sarasvati.
It is not easy to undertake Sanyasa, without knowing the implications. It is a tough life. No one
should hurriedly take it up.
Narasimha Sarasvati Svami went to Ganga Sagar and practised Yoga; then went to Prayaga initiated
Madhava in to Sanyasa and then went to Badarinath with disciples.He led strict sanyasa life for 21
years.

He proceeded to Karanja after 21 years of leaving his native place, to keep up His word to His
mother, as promised.
.
He paid reverence to his mother, who wanted liberation. He said: twenty one earlier generations
would go to salvation and she would get liberation in Varanasi. His sister Ratnai wanted to know of
her future life. He told: her husband would become Sanyasi and she would suffer from leprosy in old
age and later get cured on meeting Him.
He left to Godavari - Nasik Trayamkesvar with disciples. He met Madhavaaranyu at
Manjareekam. He blessed him with spiritual powers. By then, he became Jagad Guru.
His main disciples were:
Bala : Krishna;Upendra; Madhava; Sadananda;Gjnana Jyoti and; I (siddha) Sarasvatis.,
said Siddha to the curious Namadharaka and continued:

Sri Gurus kamarupa dharana: He used to go to Bikhsa to several villages at the same time.

Guru keeps up His promise and grants His Grace to devotees.

Relieving Stomach pain of a sick brahmin
History:
13. On the bank of Godavari, at Vasara Brahmeswara Kshetra when Sri Guru was taking bath in the
river, a brahmin came and was about to jump in to the river to commit suicide. Sri Guru warned:
You are suffering on account of many sins; Atmahatya accrues more sins; dont add any more sins.
The Brahmin got hope Sri Guru would cure his disease. In fact, that Brahmin
was suffering hard from stomach pain, unable to take food. Brahmins are usually fond of food. After
self medication and treatments, the disease aggravated. He was frustrated. At that time, one,
Sayamdeva, native of Uttara Kanchi (in East Godavari district, A.P.) came to Sri Guru. He narrated
that he was of Koundinya goutra, Aapastambha sutra from Kadakanchi (Uttara Kanchi). He invited
Sri Guru for Biksha to his home. Svami was performing Godavari Parikrama then and accepted the
invitation of Sayam.
Sri Guru gave a mystic medicine to the Brahmin and told Sayam to take the brahmin and feed him
well. Sayam was not just a visitor; he was a great devotee. Sayam was afraid initially but in full faith
on the word of Sri Guru, he took him and fed . The Brahmin too trusted Sri Guru and ate belly full.
There was no pain in stomach. He was all right. What was Svamijis medicine? (His Grace). The
Brahmin stayed there for some more time and prayed to Sri Guru.

The blessed brahmin was told to go home, eat, pray and live happily.
Sri Guru stayed there for one day, said Siddha to the anxious Namadharaka and continued:

Story
Then, Siddha told Namadharaka:
Sayamdeva was in great distress and told Sri Guru about his problem: that he was working as a
village officer in the muslim kingom and was facing great danger to his life at that time; the king
was killing people and one brahmin every year. * Now his turn came for death as he was called by
the king.
Sri Guru advised him to feed Brahmins. He did so and requested Svami to save his life. Blessing
him, Sri Guru asked him to go to the king without fear assuring nothing bad will happen. With faith
in Sri Guru, he went. On going to the king, the king got angry on Sayam for the delay. Suddenly, a
miracle happened. The king fell down from his seat, became unconscious and started dreaming.
In that dream,: he saw his own body was being sawn with a jaw saw and felt horrible pain and fear
of death. On gaining sense, he shouted a brahmin is cutting my body in to pieces, help me. He
opened his eyes, saw Sayam and asked why he came. Astonishingly his attitude to Sayam was found
different from his previous royal nature. The king touched Sayams feet, honoured him with gifts,
jewels, clothes and asked him to go home. Sayam came to Sri Guru and humbly told what all had
happened. He expressed to serve Sri Guru life long but Svami told him I am going on pilgrimage
and will return after 16 years. Then you come to Ganagapur. Till then, do your job. Sayam agreed.

Siddha then told Namadharaka what Sri Guru told his disciples:
By My blessings all desires of devotees are getting fulfilled without experiencing their due karma
phalas. Even sinners are coming here to fulfill their desires. Sri Vishnus avtar, Parasurama killed
cruel kings and donated their lands to the poor Brahmins. Seeing this, they became greedy and were
always expecting more lands from him.He got fed up with them and went in to the sea and
disappeared.God Himself was unable to render all boons and please the humanity. Any deserving
devotee will get My blessings duly. So, I will go to Vaidyanath and stay incognito. He instructed
gruhastha disciples to go to their homes and Sanyasa disciples to go on pilgrimage and reach
Srisailam in Bahudhanya year to have Sri Guru darshan. Said Siddha.
On pilgrimage, He said: Chaandrayana Vrata Phalams (CVP).

What is Chaandrayana Vrata ?
From the waxing moon Sukla (Suddha) paksha (fortnight) starting day One to Pournami: daily start
with one mudda (fistful) of food and increase one mudda per day;
From Krishna (Bahula) paksha waning moon day One to Amavasya: Decrease daily one mudda per
day.
This is a food control system in tune with the Moon. This bestows great hunger control virtues and
good health.
Punyam: One month Chandrayana vratam is a unit of punyam acquired.It nullifies sins papams.
Praayaschittam: It is said, this nullifies the sins, due to the intensive control of normal life by
imposing certain restrictions.
Details: Several procedures have been narrated in Shastras as under:
1.Prakruchram: Eka bhuktam(One time meal);Naktam (evening puja after whole day fasting with
night food);Ayaachitam, Upavasam.
2.Parnapruchram: One of the set of the leaves of Marri, audumbara, asvatha, tamara, bilva trees and
darbha on each day (one variety on one day with darbha) after soaking with water should be taken
[drunk] the next morning; continue with othger tree variety next day and so on
3. Kruchra Samyam: Daily one variety of Telaka powder, ghee, takra, neeru (wayer) Sattu should be
taken.
4.Three 3 days upavasam as follows: first day morning havis, second day havishyam and that
evening and the third day havishyam to be got without asking upavasam for 3 days has to be
observed.
5. Ati kruchram: Daily one fistful for three days and upavasam for the next 3 days.

6. Paraakam: 21 days ati kruchram with milk and then upavasam for 12 days.
7. Praajapatyam: 3 days morning, next 3 days evening and snother 3 days ayachitam (without
askingwhat ever one gets) last 3 days upavasam (total 12 days)
8. Kruchra saantapanam : Gomutram, gomayam, milk, ghee, darbha soaked water daily one item
five days and one day upavasam..
9. Kruchra Maha saantapanam : the items in 8, in pruthak and 6th day upavasam; then 7th day is this.
10.Tapta kruchram: All hot water,milk,ghee, air for 3 days then bath.
11. Each item of 10 for 3 days ( hot water, milk, ghee and air 1 part water and 1 fruit,2parts ghee 2
fruits.
12. Eka Ahnika kruchram: Yavakam prepared with gomutra. With this human body gets cleansed.
13. Trishavanam Chaandrayanam : Waxing moon increasing one mudda daily up to14 dyas and
then decreasingdaily one mudda during waning fortnight; nothing to be eaten in darsa.
14. Sishu Chaandrayanam: Morning 4havishyam and evening 4 grass
15. Ati Chaandrayanam: In the noon of 14, if 8 pindas (muddas?) are eaten.
[These are stated for those interested in Praayaschittam.To observe these, proper Guru must be consulted. In Kaasi
Khandam it is available.]
Prohibition: Night time, curd with dhania (kotimer) should not be eaten. Do not see a lady while she
is eating.
The 5 sins: Do not touch Grinding stone pair; Broom stick and cooking fire place or stove.
Pourima and ekadasi hair cutting is prohibited. One should not see his reflection in water.Never eat
with one piece of cloth. A pair ( dhoti and uttareeyam) should be worn. Eating during Sandhya time (
6 am and 6 pm) is prohibited. It is not for humans but is for demons. Do not accept / receive
honey,water,white carrot [mullangi]abhaya dakshina fees and nikrushtas.
Sparsa (touch) of chetya / chaitya tree, Chiti [funeral fire], Siva nirmalyam [waste fron Siva puja] or
prasadam from Siva temple are prohibited. If touched, one should take river bath.
Those not affected by Sutakam (antu or affliction due to death of blood relation): Satri(one who
stays in choultry), Deekshita( in deeksha)Yati [the renunciate], bachelor,Rutviks performing karma.
By full hair bath, the sin accruing from sparsa (touch) gets out / over / smashed.

Chandrayana Vrata Phalam ( CVP) is the degree or extent of resultant punyam or positive charge acquired by
performing a positive karma.Calculation of Punyam quantiying in terms of CVP seems to be prevalent in 12
13th cenmturies in the region.

Rivers: Prayaga Ganga bath and Siva darshan grants 60 CVP ; Haridwar Ganga bath: 120 CVP;
Yamuna: 20 CVP ; and Saraswati: 24 CVP. Bath and Tarpans in these rivers satisfy Pitrus and the
Pitrus get in to Brahma loka.
Bath in Divine (jiva) rivers: 15 Chandrayana vrata phalams and destroying Brahma hatya dosham;
they are: Varuna, Kusaavarta, Satadruvu, Vipasa, Sharavati, Vitasta, Asakni, Marudhvruta,
Madhumati, Payasvati, Ghrutavati are divine rivers. 15 CVP Malapaha river (Viswamitras
sthanam), North flowing Krishna river; there Kapila Maharshi ashram is Kedar teertha.

Chandrabhaga, Revati, Sarayu, Gomati, Vedika, Kousika, Mandakini, Sahasravakra, Poorna, Punya,
Aruna, Bahuda rivers bath is equal to Triveni bath. Vairochani, Pushkar, Phalgun rivers, Gaya,
Kurukshetra are Punya Kshetras. Alaknanda bath grants mahapunyam

Rudrapaadam. Kesava swamy here is Sri Maha Vishnu. Chakra teertha equals to Gokarna. At
Maanmadha tirtha is Sri Kalleswar temple. Japa / tapas in Gaanagapur grants Ashta siddhis. Bath in
Kaakine, Malaasaha sangamam; in Nivrutti sangamam removes Brahma hatya dosha. Bath in Tunga
Bhadra rivers sangam is very effective.
Pushkaram: When Bruhaspati (Guru) enters Simha raasi Godavari equals to Ganga;
when in Kanya raasi, Krishna Pushkaram; when in Tula raasi Kaaveri Pushkaram; when in
Karkataka raasi Malasaha Pushkaram and equals to Ganga.

In SriSailam, after bath in Papanasanam, darshan of Mallikarjuna gives Mokhsha. No rebirth.

Karaveeram is like Kaasi. Here Mahabaleswar is at the birth spot of River Krishna. On the bank of
Krishna in Kolha village Nrusimha swamy and Sadasiva are temple deities. Bhillavati
Bhuvaneswari Devi is there. One who does tapas here becomes Parameswar.
Tapas in Varuna river Sangamam grants Markandeya ayush. Sri Guru told the disciples to stay at
Amarapuram for 3 days and to do anushthanam (Krishna river confluence with 5 tributaries);
Shurpaalaya.
Ganagapuram is gandharva Kshetram. The confluence of Bhima and Amaraja; Nrusimha Tirtham
(Aswatha tree); Papanasanam, Manmadha Tirtham, Chakra Tirtha (Nrusimha padam) Kakije
trirtham; Malamaha sangam; Nivrutti Sangam.
No pilgrimage should be undertaken from the time Dakshinaayana starts up to 2 months. At every
river, Kshura karma (hair cut) and bath are a must.
He explained the duties of Brahmins.
Disciples then went on pilgrimage
Sri Guru then went to Vaidyanath. He was invisible. Siddha accompanied him.
Vaidyanath
Siddha told Namadharaka: Sri Guru stayed in Vaidyanath for one year.
Sri Guru then went to Trayambakeshwar, Parli and Parli vaijnath. At Parli
Vaijnath he did penance for one year and remained in seclusion.
Afterwards he went to Audumbar and Amarapur near the confluence of
the rivers Krishna and the Panchaganga. At Amarapur he stayed 12
years. This place was called "Nrisimhawadi" and later "Narsobawadi" by
his affectionate disciples and devotees. From Amarapur he went to
Ganagapur and remained there for 24 years. During his stay there many
astonishing incidents and miracles took place.

16. Siddha was staying separately in Vaidyanath away from Sri Guru.
One day, a brahmin came there in disguise, for spiritual knowledge. He spent some time in his
village with a Guru but got fed up due to the jobs he was entrusted by that Guru.He got fed up
and left him. He felt he was exploited as a servant.
Sri Guru said you have committed a sin by deserting the Guru.

Repenting for his misdeed, he asked Svami how to recognise a Guru?

Sri Guru.replied: the ignorant cannot identify. Guru seeks - looks for Sishya and so does Sishya. But
they cannot meet each other till the time the yoga muhurta gets in. It is a yoga, the divine Grace that
both can recognize each other and that is the meeting muhurta.
{ Deepaka:: Maya paasa Moha samsara bandham of husband and wife is a mutual agreement.The adhyatmic bond of
Guru Sishya is also a mutually agreeable one. If one does not like, there is no Guru sishya.}
The thought of it, with devotion to Guru, all Knowledge springs up spontaneously. Bhakti develops
through effort and patience. Mercifully, Sri Guru narrated how a disciple should be.
History: In Dvapara yuga
Sage Dhoumya had three disciples, Baida, Aruni and Upamanyu. To test them, one day, Guru asked,
One of you, go to my paddy field and water it. Aruni went immediately.
(i) Aruni made a subway canal from the water reservoir bund; on completion of watering, the bund
was heaving; it started heavily raining; over flow could not be controlled and stop the water.
Aruni lied down, placed himself as the seal to the bundto stop water. In a short time, his Guru
Dhoumya reached with some people, located and brought him out, sealing the bund.
Performing a job even at the cost of his life is what Arunis devotion to Guru indicates.
(ii) Baida : Dhoumya guru asked another disciple, Baida to watch the farm till the crop ripens and
bring the paddy to home. Baida patiently sat near the paddy field, day and night, watched protecting
it. On ripening, he was given a cart and one he-buffalo. He tied that on one side of the cart and
himself on to the second side. On the way it got stuck in mud. He tried, tried and one of the wheels
sank down and down in the mud. The cart tilted aside. Sensing the paddy might be lost in mud, he
himself got in to mud to gradually elevate the sunk wheel, but there in the task, he got stuck under
the wheel, the paddy was in tact and cart balanced. He became unconscious in that position. His
Guru sensed and came with some people to his rescue.
Baidas devotion to Gurus words was such hard and devoted.
(iii) Upamanyu: was given the job of taking the cows daily to the forest for grassing. He used to live
on biksha. Guru asked that biksha and he gave it without murmuring. The boy had no food. He
started living on cow milk, which Guru prohibited. So, he left it. He was patiently carrying out the
job entrusted without crux or anger. Cows were well and he became weak and weak, day by day due
to starving. Later, he tried to live by drinking Arka plant milk. One day he lost eye sight when the
leaf milk drops fell in to his eyes. That evening, the cattle returned home but not Upamanyu. Guru
sensed and found him blind in a shallow well. He took him out and gave upadesa of Aswini mantra
and the boy got back his eye sight.
The boys never got fed up to serve Guru.

[Udanka was the disciple of Upamanyu. In Janamejayas Sarpayaga, by Udankas yogic power,
Takshaka along with Indra were pulled down and dropped from Heaven to the site of homam.]
Service to Guru had rendered these disciples with such yogic powers by Guru Grace. Guru taught
them as learned as he was.
Having heard all this, the Brahmin got ashamed, repented and prepared to sacrifice his life before Sri
Guru. Sri Guru stopped him, kept His hand on his head and blessed. Brahma Gjnanam ushered in.
He was asked to go home. He went to his village to apologise to his old local Guru. Astonished ! he
found local Guru was in fact, Sri Guru only. He cried in Joy. How amazing!

Bhakti is svabhavaja, in born and in normal words, it is reverence but in practice, it is samarpana. There are Nava
bhakti sutras of Narada. In a student or disciple, Bhakti starts with service to Guru and His family and the premises
where they live. It can not be easily defined without examples. The above three incidents are as such and those students,
who later grew up and became Maharshis are a reality in history. Here, the real Guru - Sishya story is stated. The grace
of guru springs up profound knowledge and His blessings make the student a Maharshi. Earning Gurus Grace is not
easy; one has to dedicate, surrender and offer himself to Guru, manasa vacha karmana ( body - mind, spirit; tongue
talk, and deed); that is total samarpana or Sarana gati for getting knowledge, which leads the student to the light of
Moksham.
Tarayate: Gurus not only get Moksham, but take along with them, many people.

From Baidyanath Sri Guru went to Bhillawadi. It is in Maharashtra
.
Siddha further said: Later, Svami went to Bhillawadi (Bhillavati?).From Bhillawadi Sri Guru went
to Pancha Ganga Sagar, the confluence of the five holy rivers merging in river Krishna. There is
Amaresvar temple in the near by Amarapura village. Sixty four Yogini devatas worship this God.
Sri Guru was doing anushtana (daily routine pujas) sitting under an Audumbar tree, situated on the
west bank of Krishna river. He performed Chaturmasa deeksha here. This place is now known as
Audumbari Kshetra.
On the otherside of Krishna river in Karaveerapuram village, Bhuvaneswari Devi {local deity}
temple is there.

Siddha continued:
17. A poor brahmin couple in Karaveerapuram village had a son, born in old age. His father died. The
boy could not learn, despite desire and intention. He was of dormant mindand lacked intelligence.
When he went for biksha, people insulted him. His mother was very old. Life was miserable for
them. Fed up, by circumstances, one day, he entered in to the Bhuvaneswari Devi temple on the east
of Krishna river, closed the doors and started earnest prayers to get the Grace of the Goddess to
become literate. He was fasting, without touching even water.
After three days, when there was no response, he lost hopes and thought the fate of humans can be
changed by this Goddess, but in my case, She is silent. He cut off his tongue and offered it to the
feet of the Goddess. There was still no response. He thought, he was a born sinner. As a last resort,
he decided / vowed to offer his head, next day, to the Goddess.
* When he was about to cut off and offer his head, Goddess infused deep sleep to him. She appeared
in vision and asked him to go to the saint under the audumber [medi - fig] tree on the other bank of
the river and surrender to him. She told in vision: He will grant you Vidya (education).
Accordingly, the boy went, saw Sri Guru and fell on His feet. Sri Guru lifted him up touching his
head. His tongue started evolution and he spoke. Just by Gurus Grace, knowledge sprang up
spontaneously and he became pundit without any teachings. That was Gurus Grace and Love to
mankind. The boy bowed in gratitude to Svami and to Bhuvaneswari Devi and went to live in
Karaveerapuram village with dignity and vedic proficiency.
Siddha told Namadharaka

The latent meaning is that Gurus Grace grants Vidya and other requirements and even (god) Sarasvati will not
interfere with ones fate.
It has to be noted that tremendous grief and suffering lead to a mental state of depression - frustration and the thought of
renunciation of life, but death is not in ones own hands. It will not arrive when one frantically wants.
Satyam batedam pravadanti loke na akaala mrutyurbhavati iti santah:! Sundara kaanda 28 . 3
Means: It is true, the wise say, In this world, death will not take place untimely (as per ones wish).
In Sri Ramayana, Sita devis life was awfully miserable in Lanka. She felt like committing suicide and in that context, her words are
mentioned by Valmiki maharshi here. She did not commit suicide. She reviewed such negative thoughts and developed positive
strength to face miseries. Sri Guru discouraged such suicidal thoughts and energized them with positive strength to live full life..
About the Temple: Narsobawadi

Swayambhoo Paduka of Lord Dattatreya is present in the main Temple. Annapurna Mandir,
Janhavi Mandir, Ganapati Mandir, Maruti Mandir, Jeevantha Samadhi of Ramachandra

Yogi who lived much before Narasimha Saraswati came to Narsobawadi, Narayana Swami
Mandir, Kashikar Swamy Mandir, Gopalaswamy Mandir, Vittal Rukumai Mandir,
Krishnaveni Mandir and Mouniswamy Mandir are also present in the vicinity of the
Mandir.

Third day
Sri Narasimha Sarasvati visited the Pancha Ganga Sagar, which is the confluence of the five holy
rivers, Siva, Bhadra, Kumbhi, Bhagwati and Saraswati, where they all meet and merge in the
Krishna river. Here is the temple of Amareshwar and hence the place is called as Amarapur. Nearby
is the Sakti Teertha, where reside Sixty-four Yogini Shakti devatas, serving and worshipping
Amareshwar inconspicuously. Nearby is Papa Vinasini and other holy Teerthas. Sri Krishna
Saraswati stayed at Amarapur for 12 years. This place came to be later called as Narsobawadi
(Narsobachi Wadi), after Sri Narasimha Saraswati.

Story of the poor becoming rich by Gurus Grace

Namadharaka asked: From Audumbari where did Sri Guru go to ?
Siddha told: After spending some time in Bhillawadi, Sri Guru went to the South. It is the
confluence of rivers Krishna and Pancha ganga.
Pancha ganga are the rivers: Siva, Bhadra, Kumbhi, Bhogavati and Sarasvati.
Sangam: Rivers Siva, Bhadra, Kumbhi, Bhogavati and Sarasvati meet the Main Krishna river here.
Sri Guru stayed for 12 years in Narsobawadi. The Audumbar (medi fig) tree here is a
Kalpavruksha.
Sri Guru worked for the upliftment of the poor by going for Biksha to the nearby villages.
Amarapura is one such village.
There was a poor Brahmin in Amarapura with two children, living on Biksha. His wife was very
simple. A leaf vegetable plant was in the house and whenever they could not get Biksha, she was
cooking that plant leaves and used to take that as food.
One day, Sri Guru went for Biksha to that house. The poor brahmin could not fetch any thing on that
day. The couple invited Sri Guru with full heart, served with bhakti the curry of the plant leaves as
there was no rice. Pitying their condition, while leaving the house, Sri Guru pulled up the plant and

threw it away. The family was surviving only with that creeper plant. As it was uprooted by Svami,
the family fell in to grief. Thinking for a while, the Brahmin consoled his wife saying: Svami is a
kind and great Guru, He will not put us in grief; there is some meaning in it.
To replant the leaf plant, he started digging there. A metallic sound was heard. He dug further deep.
He touched a treasure pot full of gold coins. He went with his family to Svami and told this, in
gratitude. Sri Guru blessed them.
It is Sri Gurus miracle of Mercy on the poor family; they lived honourably in the village.

Poverty is karma phala (prarabdha). When a person does not murmur and accepts poverty with equanimity, obeying to the law of
karma, withour murmuring, God appreciates and Guru comes to relief granting normal life even without asking.

Audumbari - Amarapura - Narsobawadi
The power of Audumbar tree
..
Trees are power centres of nature charged with cosmic, terrestrial and potential energy. They
impart that positive ( + ve ) charge to humans. Pradakshins around them induct that charge
as per receptive capacity, a little by little, at a time. Yogies Gurus sit under trees for long
durations.
Audumbar, Aswatha, Maredu, Atti (medi - fig), Tulasi are such holy ones. Rudraksha also is a
tree product. Tulasi is considered as a plant only and not tree.
Ganga papam Sashi taapam dainyam kalpa taru stadha

Paapam taapam cha dainyam cha haret Sri Guru darsanam!!

{It is said that during Narasimha Avatara, Sri Vishnus nails were paining due to piercing Hiranya Kasyapu. He ran in to a forest and
sat under Audumbar tree. Sri Mahalakshmi followed, took out the juice of the leaves and fruits of that tree and applied to His nails.
The pain subsided. Sri Vishnu blessed the tree, entered in to the spirit of the tree along with Goddess Lakshmi to grant boons to the
devotees saying: those who encircle and pray to the tree would get rid of all pains and difficulties. This tree is bestowed with the
power to destroy the sins, miseries and agonies of the devotees. It has the power to grant children (santana yoga) and fulfillment of
desires. Hence, Sri Guru stays in Audumbar tree. He is latent in it. Pradakshin around the tree pleases the Gods Sri Vishnu and Sri
Mahalakshmi devi. }

19. Siddha told Namadharaka:
When a person desires something, he should first fast without eating. That is Upavasam. Then,
perform Abhishekam 7 times to Sri Guru padukas, do pradakshins to Audumbar tree at this place
and surrender to Sri Guru.
Svami was always under the tree, as well as in the village at the same time. The villagers wondered
how it would be possible. They decided to investigate this miracle.
Knower of all hearts, Sri Guru stopped going to village for Biksha. Now the villagers further
wondered how Guru was living without food.

For investigation, one villager, by name: Ganganuja was appointed to spy.

Ganganuja went for Sri Guru darshan and one day observed::
64 yoginis came and performed shodasa upachara puja, took Sri Guru in their divine vehicle in to
the river. Krishna river gave way to cross (Ganganuja just followed in secrecy); they entered in to a
heavenly city; took Sri Guru into a golden mandir, seated Him on a majestic Simhasana {throne},
performed abhishekam, pada puja and offered Nivedana Harati.
Yoginis were in prayers. In a corner, Ganganuja was hiding. Sri Guru called him and asked why he
came. Ganganuja was afraid confessed his mistake of spying and prayed for Mercy. Svami told him
not to disclose what ever he saw.
Ganganuja was a simple ardent person. Pleased with his inquisition, devotion and obedience, Sri
Guru blessed him with wealth and prosperity. Thence forth Ganganuja became a staunch devotee
and did not disclose the mysteries, said Siddha to Namadharaka.

64 yoginis were serving Svami with shodasa upacharas daily at the Audumbar tree. Kaala nagas are Devata
Sarpa Yoginis. They served Dattatreya svami since He was on and in the water.

Narasobawadi is enriched with 5 rivers: Siva, Bhadra, Kumbha, Bhogavati and Saraswati
confluence with Krishna, equal to Prayaga.
.
In magha {February}month, Ganganuja asked Sri Guru on the greatness of Kasi and of sacred bath
in Ganga. Sri Guru sensed his desire. Standing on tiger skin, He wore padukas and asked him to
hold them firmly and close eyes. By yogic power, He took him to Kasi - Prayaga in a moment and
by noon they were back in Narsobawadi.
Sri Guru installed Goddess Annapurna devi in the Audumbar tree. Since the villagers in large
numbers were flocking to this tree, Sri Guru wanted to be free from disturbance for meditation and
go else where. Knowing this, Yoginis felt and apologized if they had committed any mistake. Svami
told them, Annapurnadevi would henceforth stay in the Audumbar tree and asked Yoginis too to
enter in to the tree and bless the devotees. He granted wish fulfilling yogic powers to the yoginies.
He said that He would also stay in that tree in obscure (micro) form.

Gurus words: I am leaving my padukas here and I will ever be present.

Devotees wishes will be granted.

He kept His paadukas at the tree for the sake of devotees. Yoginis entered in to the tree; Annapurna
devi started dwelling. This is a very powerful kshetra.
Those who do pradakshins to this Audumbara tree, perform abhishekam to Sri Guru padukas,
remembering at heart, Sri Guru, Annapurna devi and yoginis are inherent in that Audumbara, will
get their prayers fulfilled. This is a Promise of Sri Guru!
One who does abhishekam 7 times to Yoginis after bath in Papanasana / Kamya / Siddha teertha,
will be blessed with full life (deergha ayush 120 years life). Here, mantra japa siddhi is achieved.

From Narasobawadi, Sri Guru went to Ganagapur on Asviyuja Bahula dwadasi, said Siddha.

Why an Audumbar tree and Aswatha tree ?
Audumber tree destroys sins, cures the diseases and fulfills the desires. Sri Guru left His Padukas under the tree. Who ever takes bath
in Ashta teertha and worships His padukas and Yoginis, would get their wishes fulfilled. At BhillaVadi Kshetra, near to the West of
Krishna river at the Audumbar tree, Bhuvanesvari Devi is dwelling and Sri Guru takes a dip in the Krishna river every morning and
sits here for japa tapa anushtana {even now}. Devi takes jivas out of karma cycle. Sri Guru exists (lives) even now in this Audumbar
tree. Though He went to Ganagapur, His existence here is felt even today.
Asvatha : It is the host for Brahma Vishnu and Mahesvara; they reside in this tree in micro form to bless the devotees.
Ekadasi, Pournami {full moon} are important days. Offer water at the roots, light up deepam in front and do pradakshins (at least 18
or 108) around the tree, offering namaskarams, keep in mind the presence of Brahma Vishnu Mahesvara and pray for what ever you
need. It will be granted.

Karma vimukti - Protection from Ghost Brahma hatya dosha Nivarana - Blessing progeny Salvation to ghost

History:
In Sirola village, a Veda pandit Gangadhar and his wife Saadhvi Lalaama were in distress as her 5
children died one after the other, immediately after birth. All her pujas were of no avail. They were
also poor.
When she went to a saint, he said, For one who steals money or kills cow / horse, in his next life, it
will be difficult to have children; even if born, they will not live.

In your case, You took a loan in previous life from a Brahmin and never repaid it. He madly
committed then suicide. He became pisachi (demon). This is Brahma hatya dosham for which you
are responsible and he is killing your children now.
This was shocking to her and asked him for remedy. He said :
Go to Narasobawadi, perform rituals for one month.
(1) Take bath in Papavinasanam, do abhishekam 7 times to Audumbara tree, then,
(2) take bath in Kaamya teerth and perform abhishekam to paadukas, then
(3) take bath in Krishna river, without eating any thing, do pradakshins around the tree;
do puja to Paadukas sincerely; and then
(4) feed brahmins and offer dakshina to them.
Along with her husband she went to Narsobawadi and was doing the above rituals. In the third night,
in dream, the ghost spirit that was killing the children appeared to her. She was afraid and went to
Sri Guru Padukas at Audumbar. Sri Guru called - summoned the spirit and pacified it, saying: rituals
would be done and what ever she could afford, money would be given to the man of the ghost
spirits gotraja and further assured Mukti to the ghost spirit. That ghost spirit was satisfied. The
picturesque dream ended.
She woke up and told that to her husband and as advised by Sri Guru in the dream, she completed
the whole rituals offering prayers. She was freed from the sins curses of the past. The couple
continued seva to Audumbar - Padukas.
One night, Sri Guru appeared in her dream and gave two fruits (coconuts) - asked her to feed
Brahmins and then eat the fruits. On waking up, she found two fruits on the side of her bed. The
couple completed the Vratam (seva) and fed Brahmins. Then they ate the fruits.
They went back to Sirola. In due course, she became pregnant and delivered twin children.

Rituals close all past debts and one gets freed from great sins. Demons get vimukti.This is a remedy.

Revival of boys life from death
..
They brought up the children well. After seven years, suddenly one of the twin boys suffered from
typhoid and died. They were shocked and lamenting.
A Sadhu came there and explained that human bodies are formed as Karma phalas to experience
and then die. Name and form of Jiva are not permanent. In this life, one may have many relations,
but who and what they were in earlier lives and what would they be in future, is not known to them.
So, the persons and their relationship never remain as such after death and never continued / carried
forward permanently after rebirths.
Lalaama, the boys mother told Sadhu: the boy was Sri Gurus gift and how he would die so in
childhood?
Sadhu advised her to take the dead body of her son to the place where her Guru earlier blessed her.
Accordingly, the couple went with the body of their son from Sirola and reached Audumbari by
night. The villagers flocked them and asked to cremate the boys body. The mother refused and as it
was late night, the villagers left them. The couple prayed incessantly to Sri Guru at the paadukas.
Fully tired, they did not know when they fell asleep.
Sri Guru appeared to her in dream with long hairs and vibhuti over his body and said: Due to
the boys prarabdha Karma phala, his prana left the body and I have now brought it back. He
disappeared. That was the picturesque dream.
She woke up and found to her surprise that her son was alive miraculously. The couple
acknowledged to Sri Guru with great reverence bowing and bowing to Paadukas repeatedly. By that
time, it was morning and the villagers came to see what had happened.
Finding the boy alive, they wondered at the Mahima of padukas and took bath in the river, did
pradakshins to audumbar tree and prayed to Paadukas.
The couple left for Sirola.
On the boys 8th year, Upanayanam was performed. The two boys grew up, lived up to ripe age by
the grace of Sri Guru.
Nama was highly delighted on hearing this story.

Sri Guru, staying in the spirit of audumbar tree grants devotees wishes, obscurely.
Sri Nrusimha Sarasvati Guru exists now also and responds to every call of the devotees, said Siddha to Namadharaka. He told
another incident to Nama:

Old buffalo becoming fertile

Siddha continued:
The confluence of Bhima and Amaraja is more pious than Prayaga. Sri Guru stays there incognito. Only at noon, He
comes out for Biksha.

From Amarapura, Sri Guru came to the confluence of Bhima Amaraja rivers and was staying under
the Asvatha tree at Sangamam. Only for Biksha at noon he was going to Ganagapur village. There
were over a hundred well to do brahmin houses in the village. He was aware, merciful and helping
the poor.
There was a very poor family in Ganagapur village in really pitiable condition. They were living on
Biksha only and passing life honourably. They had an old buffalo. His Grace turned in to that hut.
One day, Sri Guru went for Biksha to them.
The house wife wecomed Him, washed His feet and took His pada teertha as Prasad. Fanning Him,
she respectfully told that her husband would be back home, getting Biksha. Svami saw at the old
barren buffalo in that house. At heart, he was sorry for it and the poor family.
When the Brahmin did not arrive yet, Svami told her: It is getting late, let Me have at least milk.
Embarrassed in distress, she explained It does not give milk - we are living on hiring it to carry salt
and mud bags - it lost the teeth and is old aged.
Pitying at heart, Sri Guru loudly uttered Dont tell lies, go and try to fetch milk now.
Sri Guru saw at the buffalo with Grace extending Amruta drushti!
The house wife, obeying to the hard words of Sri Guru, went in to the hut. As there were no utensils,
she brought a drinking water earthen pot and in reluctance started to milk the buffalo. Wonder! milk
flowed plenty pot full. As milk was still flowing out further, she brought another water pot and it got
filled up and still milk was flowing. She got astonished.
She boiled some milk and with gratitude and reverence, offered it to Sri Guru, saying, It isYour
Grace You came to bless us. By then, her husband came. They all bowed gratefully to Svamis feet.
He blessed the poor family with prosperity.
Next day, the hirer of the buffalo came, but the woman told: hence forth, it would not be hired. Sri
Guru changed the life of the poor people.
The news of the barren buffalo giving milk spread to the whole village. The village head came to
their house and witnessed the milking buffalo, said Siddha.

Comments: Is this story unbelievable? But, it was a fact and history. How it is possible is the question. Is there any answer?

Yes! Let us ponder over. The amruta Sanjivani drushti or the rejuvenating power exists. It is no doubt, a divine power and human
beings can not do it nor understand it. Asvini devatas {physicians to devatas} are the deities responding to the prayers to solve such
problems. Sparsa, drusthi, transmission, radiation, conduction, induction, reflection, reverberation and some more modes of power
transfers are known to science today. How the light from a particular star in the sky, on a particular time - month - day - night, during
the existence of a particular star under which the Moon exists produces only particular Oshadi or plant of a particular medicinal
special nature regularly is a matter of wonder too. But this is happening and we are witnessing regularly. For example: In pushyami
star in a particular month (Ashada Sravana) the mush rooms are generated and their life is for a few hours only for human
consumption. Only during Swati star do oysters generate. There are several such examples. Persons having divine powers can only
do such wonders. When life can be restored by bringing back Praana sakti, what of milk? Just the touch by child Sripada, mothers
breast became full of milk. It seems to be beyond beyond modern science to explain or appreciate such wonders. The yogic
powers of Sri Guru are as such, wonderful.

From Amarapura Sri Guru went to Ganagapur and stayed there for 24 years. During his stay there, many astonishing incidents and
miracles took place. Hindus and Muslims used to come to him.Gangapur is believed to be the abode of Lord Dattatreya. There is a
holy hillock of Vibhuti (holy ash) from which devotees pick up the sacred ash as Prasad to take home. This hillock has not been
depleted, even though devotees have been taking away sacred ash for centuries. Miracles take place in Ganagapur even now.

Demon gets Mukti

Siddha continued::
This news spread over that entire region up to the king. The village head went to Sangamam
and invited Svami to stay in Ganagapur village submitting humbly that they would construct a Math
for regular pujas.
Then the king went to Svami, prostated and invited Him to bless the royal palace. Sri Guru was
being taken in a palki. On the way, at the western entrance gate to the palace, a Brahma Rakshasa
demon was residing on the peepul tree top. It was troubling the villagers. Seeing Svami Sri Guru, it
got down, came at once and prostrated to Svamis feet. Touching the demon, Sri Guru asked him to
take dip in Sangamam. The holy dip transformed the demon in to human. Svami gave Mukti and
freed him from prarabdha.

The touch of Sri Guru evaporates sins and brings in prosperity. His amruta drushti (kind grace) generates life in the dead.
Svami is great and merciful.

Svami started staying in Ganagapur in the math. The math is a holy powerful site on the river bank.
People were happy and having Sri Guru darshan daily and developed inexplicable love and affection
towards Him.

Removal of Trivikramas misconception on Sri Guru

Story:
24. In reverence, the king provided a palki for Sri Guru to go to Sangamam and return to math. Svami
did not like it but the king did not allow Him to move on foot, outside the math. For the satisfaction
of the devotees, sadhus sanyasis accept certain provisions and facilities, although they are tyagis and
walk to any where.
In the near by village, Kumasi, there lived a saint Trivikrama Bharati, a devotee of Narasimha
God. He had professed the three Vedas.
He could not accept in mind Sri Gurus moving in Palki, as Sadhus- sanyasis go any where walking
only. He thought: why a sadhu is enjoying royal felicitations of luxuries, while He should lead a
simple sanyasi life doing Narayana smarana. He took Sri Guru as an ordinary one. He did not know
that Sri Guru was beyond materialism and knower of hearts.
Sri Guru wanted to remove Trivikramas misconception. He told the king one day, He would visit
Kumasi. He was taken in palki in a procession to Kumasi.
Trivikrama at that time sat for dhyana meditation. But he could not concentrate - meditate.
His mind was not getting steady; unable to concentrate and his ishta deva Narasimha svami was not
visible in dhyana. He apologized for any mistakes unknowingly committed and prayed to his ishta
deva to grant him vision, as usual. Instead, Sri Guru Narasimha Sarasvati came in to vision. He
wondered what had happened to his mind. He could then see in vision Sri Guru, in palki coming in
procession on the riverside to Kumasi. For a while, in the vision each person in the procession was
looking like Sri Guru. Trivikrama was puzzled with confusion and went to riverside in disbelief. He
saw Sri Guru in Palki, each person in that procession was still looking like Sri Guru only. His eye
sight was unbelievable. Then he realized he wrongly under estimated the caliber of Sri Guru. He
went to Sri Guru, prostrated and prayed apologising for his ignorance and immaturity.
The merciful Sri Guru showed His divine form Viswarupam to Trivikrama, came out of palki and
asked him, why he was praying to Him instead of God Narasimha, his ishta deity in Kumasi.
Ashamed, Trivikrama touched His feet and sought to be his devotee. He was accepted.
His misconception on Sri Guru evaporated off. He became a disciple to Sri Guru.

Story of the proud pandits

Siddha continued: Story:
25. Vaidhuryapuram (Bidar) was ruled by a Muslim king. He was against Hindus - Vedas - Brahmins.
Two North Indian Vedic pandits came there. They challenged and defeated local pandits in the
faculty of Vedas. The king gave support and sent them to fight against Trivikrama Bharati. Finding
the challenging pundits adamant, the sober professor, Trivikrama took them to Ganagapur to the
ashram of Sri Guru.

Vidya vinaya sampanna ! .. Sri Guru wanted the learned to be polite and not proud. This is clear from the incident.

Punishment to proud pandits

26. Sri Guru called them and advised: the educated must be simple, obedient and never to be proud.
Vedas are infinite like ocean and not to be used for money and fame. None knows them fully. Lack
of vision and common sense weakens the learned brahmins; demoralises turning them in to Karma
bhrashta (use less) there by accruing deep sins. Vedas are meant to acquire Purushaarthas. So, go
back without argument. The visitors ignored these polite advices.

Story of Matanga - Chanting Vedas

27.Seeing their adamance, Sri Guru then asked his disciple: to call a passerby panchama, sprayed
Vibhuti Bhasma on his body; to drawseven parallel lines in front of Panchama. Sri Guru asked him
to cross the lines, one after another telling his name, profession and then that life. He started telling
his name was Matanga, a sub caste Patita in this life. Telling his names, profession and lives of the
previous six generations, the seventh previous life was that of a Brahmin vedic pandit.
Then, Sri Guru asked him to recite vedas and argue with the challenging visitors. Surprisingly,
Matanga Patita started eloquently chanting the Vedas. The proud pundits trembled with fear at the
enormous amazing spiritual power of Sri Guru, apologised accepting defeat. They prayed for
pardon.
Sri Guru gave shapam thus: You have committed great sins, that too abusing Brahmins and Vedas,
so live as Brahma Rakshasa for twelve years. The proud pandits begged for Vimukti from the

shapam. The merciful Sri Guru told: On repentance, after 12 years, a brahmin will initiate you in
to Narayana shabda nada (sound), on your uttering the mantra japa, you will get human form and
later on remembrance of the past, you will be freed from sins against vedic Brahmins.
The proud two were sent to the river and on bathing they turned in to rakshasas, said Siddha.

Matangas enquiry - Karmas and results

After this incident, Matanga requested Sri Guru to kindly tell how he became a low caste born now,
though he was earlier a high caste brahmin. Svami explained and all the disciples were listening
with attention.
Karmas and effects results:
In accordance with Karma, the effects arise. Relinquishing parents, Guru, elders, children and
leaving them to their fate, result in the birth as a low caste chandaala. Self praise results in heart
disease; blaming God brings in mental diseases; separate family set- up away from parents gets in to
sickness and birth in boya (bird killer) caste; blaming Vedic Brahmins results in urinary diseases;
toiling on peoples misdeeds leads to mental disturbance; willfully aborting another lady makes one
barren; sporting dishti makes deaf; Brahma hatya results in tuberculosis; Visvasa ghata (cheating
breach of trust) results in disability to eat food. One killing snakes becomes a snake; rapist lands in
destitution and goes to hell; book thief becomes blind; dress stealer begets white disease; money
stealer will be devoid of sons; stealing food results in stomach ailments; stealing oil makes body
foul; spoiling divine functions / pujas makes one leper; embracing other ladies makes him dog in
next life and
milk pilferage turns one to a leper.

Bandham - Desire for Bandha Moksham

Sri Guru concluded: You had blamed your parents in previous life and hence became chandala in
this life. Go and dip regularly in Sangamam for one month, you will take birth as brahmin in next
life.
Matanga wanted to retain the incidentally acquired barhminhood and pleaded: By virtue of being a
brahmin in the last 7th life, by having Your darshan in this life, all my sins vanished. Kindly allow
me to be Brahmin in this life. I pray to Your Grace!
Then Sri Guru told him of Visvamitras efforts and great tapas to become Brahmarshi. Matanga was
still insisting Sri Guru for brahminism.

Just then, the wife and children of Matanga came there. When they approached him, he told: dont
touch me, I am brahmin. They begged Sri Guru to order him not to relinquish them. Matanga
refused to go home with them.
As per Sri Gurus order, a miser disciple was called upon to take Matanga to the river for bath. Just
by a dip in the river, the Vibhuti bhasma on the body of Matanga got washed off.
Back in to Sambandham as Chandala
Matanga directly went home with his family as if nothing had happened. This surprised all the
disciples there. Siddha said to Nama and continued:

how it vanished after bath, as he calmly went home with his family, as if nothing had happened.

Sri Guru replied: Puranam:
29. Vibhuti bhasma prokshana (spray of vibhuti powder) generated knowledge - memory (Smriti) of the
past lives and on its getting washed out of the body, that memory vanished. It is the contact of
Vibhuti bhasma with the body that generates certain powers. Bhasma makes one pious, evolves
wisdom turning him into Brahma gjnani. Then, He told an incident:
History:
Vamadeva muni, the great Brahma gjnani, was once traveling in a forest. A brahma rakshasa demon
attacked him. On the touch of the munis body, the rakshasa instantly got transformed and uplifted,
realized his previous 25 births. He prostrated to muni narrating his earlier lives:
that he was King Durjaya in one life, troubled ladies, people and committed sins. So he went to
hell and later lived as ghost for100 years. Later he was born as animals : dog, deer etc. and now a
brahma rakshasa, due to praarabdha. He added: When I was king, I constructed water tank and
donated cows and lands to Brahmins. He prayed for the munis mercy and enquired how the
transformation came to him suddenly. The Vibhuti bhasma mahima, Muni told.
Muni gave Bhasma Vibhuti enchanting Siva mantra to the rakshasa. When he wore it, he got a
divine form. Praying to Vamadeva with Saashtanga Namaskar, he left for Kailasa in a divine plane.

Story of dravid Brahmin and dog

Story:
A dravid brahmin with many vices fell unconscious on a road and was in life and death condition. A
dog coming out of Sivalayam saw him, thought he was dead and went there. On the dog there was
malinya of temple, the Vibhuti bhasma and bel leaves, which fell on the mans body (it thought
dead) when the dog bent on him. Due to severe sickness he died a few hours later. Siva dootas took
his subtle body to Kailasam, by virtue of the touch of the temple Vibhuti bhasma, which fell on him
from the dog.

Puranam: Preparation of Vibhuti Bhasma
Once, Sanatkumaras (munis) went to God Siva to get a clue mantra to cross the samsara ocean. Siva
hinted at the proper use of cow dung ash, of sacred fire (Vibhuti) chanting specific vedic mantras.
Kusa (darbha), holy ash and Rudraksha are the tools of liberation. Sanatkumaras followed it.
Sri Guru concluded thus: In accordance with Karmas the deeds follow. When Vibhuti bhasma
touches human body, he becomes Siva.

30. In Mahalarapura (Mahurapura), a very rich Brahmin Gopinath was living. He was unhappy, since he
had no children. On intense prayers to Dattatreya, he got a son. Happily he named the child:
Dattudu. The son was brought up well with good education. On attaining youth, he was married to
a good girl Savitri.
She was a faithful believer of Guru Dattatreya cult and a staunch devotee of Sri Guru at heart.
After some time of their marriage, Datta became sick. In course of time, his health deteriorated
despite best available medical treatment. The whole family was worried. Datta told his wife he
would not live long and asked her to bear the future tragedies. She consoled him to bear for some

time and gave hopes he would become healthy. Savitri was praying to Sri Dattatreya Guru, with
hope and faith.
When the entire family lost hopes and the medical treatment failed, she decided to take her husband
to Sri Guru in Ganagapur. She took the blessings of parents- in-law and elders and started the
journey engaging a doli along with some servants. It was a tedious journey and on the way and in
the midst of the journey, Datta was suffering. They travelled with patience while Dattus condition
was extremely bad. They were nearing to Ganagapur and Datta was in collapsing condition. She was
restless, worried and helpless. She kept him in that village asking the servants to take care of him,
she hurriedly went in search of Sri Guru ashram. Some one told her: Sri Guru was then at
Sangamam.
She came back to the village to take her husband to Sri Guru. By that time, Datta died. She was
upset, unable to control the grief and was about to collapse but controlled herself praying to Sri
Guru, sitting beside the dead body of her husband, on the road. She was crying in miserable heart
broken grief lamenting with tears and unable to think of the next step.
{Taking a sick person to Guru with life is one thing desirable and different from the thought of where to take a dead
body} It
was a totally unexpectable situation, untenable scene and cursing picture, unbelievable for
her.

Advice of YOGI

Dattudu Story Initial Tragedy

31. Just then, a Yogi came there. Savitri cried and cried telling him: I came with my husband for Sri
Guru Darshan with full faith hoping for recovery of health and welfare of my husband and I do not
know what to do now. She prayed to the Sadhu yogi for advice.
He told her: Fate cannot be changed. Due to karma phalas of the earlier lives, human bodies get the
relationship of wife and husband. Bodies are perishable. Leave attachments and think of Vyragya,
which is superior to samsara. He mentioned many pacifying words. She was not satisfied with the
Yogis words.

Paativratya Mahima
The power of an honest wife

Then Yogi said: A woman has great powers. To cross over this ocean of life, pativrata serves her
husband as God. Pacifying her, yogi told :::

Story:
Long back, Agastya maharshi and his wife Lopa mudra were living in Kaasi. Indra and devatas went
to them. Bruhaspati told them Agni, Sun, Moon, Yama and His bhatas and even devatas are afraid of
a Pativrata. Husband is Para (eternal) God for wife and a Pativrata darshan makes one pious. When
husband dies, wife performs Saha gamanam. Their atmas are led to para lokas - higher worlds by
Deva dootas. There, goddesses welcome the wife with haarati. Agni becomes cool by the influence
of Paativratya power. By such great powers, both husband and wife get para loka sukham.
If husband dies when wife is pregnant or husband dies in far off places or a breast fed child is left
with her, sahagamanam is prohibited. Observing widowhood equals to Sati Saha gamanam.
The philosophy of Yogis words, pativratya powers and the story did not convince the very young
Savitri. She was in a state of miserable gief and really not able to understand what to do.

[Daivam maanusha rupena is true. When one cries for God, He comes in human form before the devotee. Thus Yogi came. Even to
Nama Sidha came so.}
A widow darshan is considered a bad omen even today.

Yogi said: What ever is better for you, do it. To that she was praying for Mercy of Sri Guru !
Yogi sensed her mind.
Then, He reminded her: You said you came for Guru darshan to get your husband cured. Take this
Vibhuti Bhasma, apply all over your husband/s dead body, tie these 4 Rudrakshas to his ears. Have
Gurunadha darshan and spray His Paada Teerth on your husband. Then decide what to do.
The yogi disappeared from the site.

Srimad Ramayana is one of the best narrations in the world on Human suffering and specifically when some one is confronted with
continuous miseries in life. It is Sita Devi who suffered as such and her words are valuable to mankind.
Priyannasambhave dukham apriyadadhikam bhayam !
Tabhyam hi e viyujyantenamastesham mahatmanam !!

Means: Normally, when some thing is dear, there is no grief; devoid of that creates fear dislike - confrontsfrightens - ;
those above this state are mahatmas, I bow to them!

Narration: In Ramayana, Sundara kaanda, these are the words in the thoughts of Sita devi, while in Lanka. She was in a
state of depression, isolation, lonely and away from her dear husband Sri Rama for ten months. Valmika maharshi states
here {through Sita devis thoughts) the cause of grief is Love liking dear priyam.
In Bhagavad Gita, it is said:
Na prahrushet priyam prapya no dvijet prapya cha apriyam
Sthira budhirasammudho brahma vidmahmani sthitah: !!

One should not get depressed when he has to face undesirable situation; stable balanced mind in grief and joy are most
warranted. It is well said than really felt.

Sati Saha gamanam.
Sati saha gamanam means wife going along with husband. In Kruta and earlier yugas, till old age people lived and at the fag end of
life, died. At that time, wife was so devoted to husband that both were considered One,ie. Ardha nareeswara thought. Man and wife
are half half in mind,soul and body. That concept prevailed then. So, when husband died, wife was going in to the chitagni (funeral
pyre) as Sumangali voluntarily and offering her body in the
same funeral of husband. This is objectionable in this 21st century as per law. It is considered Crime as suicide. Therefore, todays law
and Sati sahagamana do not go together in concept of appreciation. In the Johar of HaldiGhat war 75,000 women jumped in to fire
for saving their chastity / honour. Hindu customs and systems value esteem for honour and sacred life. Physical body is considered
important to be pure and sacred to lead life, as Jaatasya maranam Dhruvam .. according to BhagavadGita. So, Let honour be
saved now; let this body go to fire, we will any way get physical body in next life; that is the concept.
Therefore, the readers are informed: In Kaliyuga, 21st century, Life is to be loved, lived, liked and enjoyed for experiencing both
Joy and grief (Karma phalas). Suicide or Atmahatya ensues Mahapapam as per Hindu Shastras - Law. Sri Guru also told this in Sri
Guru Charitra.

32. Thoughts of Savitri:
She felt with unwavering mind of devotion to husband: Life without husband is worthless, I have
no alternative than Sahagamanam. She took bath, wore silk clothes, jewellery ornaments, applied
Kumkum to her forehead and praying at heart, went ahead holding the

* sacred fire in front of the husbands body to the funeral pyre. It was a state of dauntless distress
and dutiful pativratyam.
She announced several charities, dasa daanas and gifts to Brahmins, the poor and others there.
Curiously many people came there to see. To save her in-laws from grief in their old age, she told
her followers as her last words: inform my in - laws that by the Grace of Sri Guru, their son, Datta
recovered and is healthy and as my parents invited us for Deepavali, we went there happily. What a
mature person she was at that young age? She sought for the blessings of all those who accompanied
her and her husband from Mahurapura up to this point.
Holy pyre was ready. The site seemed sunk in the ocean of grief at heart of many villagers.
Savitri suddenly remembered Yogis words. To her husbands dead body on the pyre, she applied
sacred Vibhuti Bhasma and tied two rudrakshas to the ears and two to the neck.
She rushed to Sangam alone to have darshan of Sri Guru. On the way, she thought in mind:
My life became waste like a stone, I have no children, hopes have failed like air temple top
[gaali gopuram] air bubbles; I am Godless, anadha and Oh! Guru! You are kind Merciful.
Thus thinking, she reached Sangam river. Sri Guru was there mercifully pleasant. She bowed from a
long distance itself.
Svamin Namaste nata loka bandho! karunya sindho patitam bhavabdhou !

He blessed her Ashta putra Saubhaagyavati bhava!

People present there humbly told Him: Her husband died and she came for Your darshan while
going for sahagamana.
Sri Guru then said, Chiti cannot burn here, her saubhaagyam is unshakable, bring that body here!
The body of Dattu was brought. Then Brahmins sprayed Sri Guru paada teertha on it. Sri Guru saw
straight on the body with divine Grace, amruta drushti extending Jiva Shakti.
Karunya rasaardra drushtyatadyad abheetim Sahasa Mahatma !
Jivam {life} started vibrating in that dead body. The once dead Datta got up. Savitri told her
husband what all had happened. In reverence and gratitude, they bowed Saashtaanga pranaams to Sri
Guru.
The couple took bath in Sangam river and with great devotion performed puja to Sri Guru.The
sparkle of light of life could be seen in Savitri and Datta. That is gurus Grace.
Said Siddha to Namadharaka and continued:
* This act of ritual is done by man and not by woman. Since she was the only person left behind her husband in such far off place
from home, she undertook this ritual.

Rudraksha Mahima Honesty devotion Siva Saayujyam

33. Next day, Savitri and Datta prostrated to Sri Guru and asked: Who was that yogi that gave
Rudrakshas and Vibhuti Bhasma? He said I only and explained Rudraksha Mahima. One wearing
Rudraksha is equal to [and like] Rudra, Siva. He told some incidents.
Story:
In Kashmir, king Bhadrasena had a son, Sudharma. His ministers son and Sudharma were friends.
The two boys wear Rudrakshas and not gold ornaments. When Parasara maharshi came, the king
asked why the two boys were so. Rishi went in to vision and told them the history:

In Nandigram village a very rich and charitable dancer vesya, a devotee of Siva was rearing a
monkey and a cock in her mansion. She decorated them with Rudraksha neck laces.
God Siva went, in disguise of a Saiva merchant, wearing a jewel siva lingam in neck lace, to test her
devotion. The dancer saw him and thought he was a great vedic scholar / rishi. He was welcomed.
Being devotee of Siva, she asked him: If you will pass on to me your vedic wisdom, I will spend
three days and nights with you as a real wife. He did not believe her. She swore by Siva linga in her
puja hall. Agreeing, the merchant promised on Sun and Moon and tied a bracelet around her wrist
accepting her as legitimate wife. He gave her the precious Jewel Siva lingam as wedding gift.
They spent as husband and wife for two days and nights fulfilling their promises.He gave spiritual
wisdom to her; she served Him as good real wife.
The third day was also spent as per agreement. But at night, suddenly her mansion caught fire and
went ablaze. The man, cock, monkey and servants died. She was the lone survivor.
The next day, ie.4th day, she gave away all her belongings, properties in charity to the poor and
brahmins. As per Hindu rituals, arrangements were made for the Saiva merchants funeral, and for
those died in her mansion.
She went before her husbands body to the funeral as a true wife and after vedic rituals, bowed to the
Sun God and walked on to the pyre to jump in to the funeral fire for Sati Sahagamanam. She kept
her promise honestly true to devotion.
God Siva came. Stopped her; gave His saakara darshan and told her: I tested your devotion, and I
am pleased. Ask for any boon. She asked for Siva Saayujyam to her and her folk animals. Giving

life to the two animals and reviving her mansion to its original grandeur, Siva blessed her
Saayujyam with Him.
Rishi said to the king: that monkey and cock are born as these two boys. So, they wear only
Rudrakshas.

Rudraksha: Wearing of or performing Japa touching Rudraksha evolves enormous positive charge of energy of
destroying sins. The chemical energy of it is mystic.It is Rudra by itself, ie. the Shakti of Siva.

Rudra Adhyayana and Abhisheka: Mahima

Rudram + Abhishekam evaporates Apamrutyu (untimely or accidental death)

34. Then, king asked on the future of his son. Rishi told that the boy had alpayu and 8 days more only
he would live. He advised the king to perform Rudra adhyayana and Rudra abhishekam to ward off
Mrutyu / death to his son.
Accordingly, near the pious bel tree, with 100 kalasas, Rudram was enchanted by brahmins. While
the boy was listening Rudra abhishekams were performed and then the boy was given bath with that
teerth for 7 days. Day and night pujas were done.
On the 8th day, the boy collapsed and Rishi sprinkled Siva mantra jala on his body. Tremendous
sounds emanated. Yama dootas appeared. Brahmins sprayed mantra jalas all over the place.Yama
dootas were unable to reach the boy. Siva dootas reached there and drove away yama dootas.
Wonder! The boy got up and lived full life.
That is the power of Rudram and Rudra abhishakam. These rituals drive away the fear of death and
life stays in the body; Siva power retains life.
Chanting of Rudram, Namakam, Chamakam and Mahanyasa Purvaka Abhishekam bestows great
safety to health, life and wards off evils. The sprinkling of Abhisheka jalam retains life - brings life
back in to the body, to where ever it has flown out.
Sri Guru said, that is why I advised you to spray My paada jal on the dead body of your husband.
The disciples were listening there.

35. Siddha told Nama of the advice of Sri Guru on the Prohibition of Mantra Upadesam to ladies.
Savitri sought for a Mantra from Sri Guru. He did not agree. He advised her to observe Somavara
Vratam on Mondays.
Kachudu Devayani story. Puranam
Mruta Sanjivani Mantra:

Sri Guru told Savitri that Devatas and Rakshasas were quarelling always with each other and terribly
fighting wars amongst themselves in which both sides were partly dying. The dead bodies of
Rakshasas were treated by their Guru Sukracharya and life was coming back to them. Bodies of
Devatas died in the war were lost for ever. This perplexed Devatas and Indra.
They found the secret of Rakshasas recovery of life was due to the mystic Mruta Sanjivani mantra.
Indra and devatas planned, if some one learns that mantra from Sukracharya, then the dead devatas
in the war could be brought back to life.Bruhaspatis son, Kacha was selected and sent to
Sukracharya to learn the mystic mantra. He went to Sukracharya and became a student disciple.
Devayani, the daughter of Sukracharya got fascinated on seeing the young bachelor, Kacha loved
him at heart and wanted to marry him.
The demons sensed the unscrupulous trick played by Indra and devatas and killed the boy, Kacha.
They burnt his body, mixed that ash in a drink and gave it to Sukracharya, without his knowledge.
He drank it unnoticed.
Not finding Kacha, Devayani enquired her father about him. The Acharya went in to meditation. To
his surprise, he found in vision, Kacha was in his own stomach in the form of ash. Devayani asked
her father to bring back the life of Kacha, by Mruta Sanjivani mantra. It was an embarrassing
situation. If Kacha was revived by mantra, Acharya would die. Except Acharya none else knew the
mantra. Devayani proposed a solution to her father: that if he would initiate (upadesa) her in to that
mantra, then both Kacha and he could be revived to life.
Mantras should not be taught to ladies, according to vedic rules, then. But the situation was seriously
exigent that hesitantly he taught the Mantra to her. Then, both Kacha and Acharya were respectively
brought back to life one after the other. Till then all was well.
After some time, having learnt the Mantra, Kacha took leave of the teacher and was about to leave.
Devayani expressed to Kacha of her desire to marry him. He politely refused her saying that (a)
being her fathers student (b) by having been given rebirth by her enchanting mantra, and (c) by
coming out physically from Gurus stomach, she was in the order of mother to him and hence her
proposal was not justified. Devayani did not expect this and angrily cursed him that his learning
and wisdom would be useless. Kacha was upset by her behaviour and heinous curse. He too, in

return, cursed that the Mantra would lose its power, on recital by ladies. It was a sad end. The
purpose of sending Kacha to get Mantra failed due to Devayani.

What had happened to Kunti [in Maha Bharata] on getting upadesa of Surya mantra? She delivered a child, Karna without
marriage. Therefore, mantras should never be taught to women.

Seemantini story
Somavara vrata

Sidha continued:
36. Sri Guru told Savitri to pray to God Siva on every Monday observing Somavara vratam and told her
the story of Seemantini Chitrangada. There was a king ChitraVarma. On the birth of a daughter to
him, he consulted Astrologers, who told that she was destined to become a widow. She was named
Seemantini. On attaining youth, she started performing Somavara vrata regularly. The king got her
married to Prince Chitrangada.
On an ill fated day, the Prince while boating in a river, accidentally fell in to the river and could not
be traced. People thought he died. Purohits told the king: till the dead body of the prince is
obtained, Seemantini cannot perform sati sahagamanam.
At the time of boat accident, Naga kanyas were taking bath in the river and saw the drowned prince.
They wanted to save him and took his body to Naaga loka. He was treated there for some time. His
life was saved.
Seemantini was regularly performing Somavara vrata. Luckily, on a Monday, when she went to river
for bath, Naga kanyas came there and left the Prince at the river bank. All the people there saw the
Prince alive. The vratam gives prosperity.
Then Savitri started SomavaraVratam and regularly going to Ganagapur with Dattu.

Soma vara and Ama Soma vara vratams do exist. When Amavasya falls on a Monday, it is called Ama Soma vara.
On that day devatas descend on to the earth to receive prayers of devotees and grant boons. Raw Cotton should not be touched on
that day. Generally, on Mondays, people do not make bathi (vathi) for deepa aradhana.

Food restrictions Prayaschittam for eating outside

Sidha told Namadharaka of an incident in Ganagapur.
History:
36. There was a brahmin couple in Ganagapur, living on Biksha and the husband was never going to
Santarpans nor taking his wife to functions for taking food. She had the fascination for food in such
functions and for getting huge dakshina amounts. She was pressing her husband to take her to
functions. But the brahmin was averse to that even on invitation. His wife complained to Sri Guru,
on her husband.

Calling both of them, Sri Guru stated: the husband was right in his custom, but, advised the brahmin,
take your wife and go once to have the experience of taking food in functions. The occasion came
and the wife with great pleasure and the husband with dejection went, when some one invited for
lunch.
All the guests sat for lunch and people were bringing items from kitchen shed. The woman,
suddenly saw a dog and a pig coming out of the shed. All the 108rahmins were leaving the place to
go for prayaschittam. She felt very bad at the sight and told her husband: let us go! We will have
lunch at home.
Sri Gurus advice to the Brahmin couple was to adhere to the family tradition of having home food.
They were advised to do parayana of Sri Guru Charitra for prayaschittam. Sri Guru Charitra fries out
evaporates sins. Free Food (not earned by his own money) introduces sins and afflicts life.
Sri Guru advised: It is important that the food from the house of a miser, proud one or deceiver of
women, visvasa ghata (cheat who breaches of ones trust) is dangerous. Food from righteous
peoples homes, god fearing persons, offers and pious gruhastas is acceptable without hesitation.
Hindu customs should be followed strictly.

A recent incident is now told as story in Pravachanas in mathas. A sadhu was invited for Bikha by a gruhasta and he accepted. On that particular
day, Sadhu went to gruhasta. As the wife of gruhasta had to stay out (due to monthly period) the neighbour lady was requested to cook food in
gruhstas home. She accepted, cooked and served food to Sadhu and gruhastha.
Next morning, the Sadhu came to gruhastas home again. He handed over a silver tumbler in which he drank water on the previous day. Gruhasta
was stunned to see it was his tumbler only. Sadhu told him, my mind behaved like a thief yesterday after taking food. It became normal today and I
repent and apologise for this theft, excuse me he said.
Gruhastas wife came to know of this and told her husband: the neighbour lady is a thief and earlier she had stolen many silver items.
Thus, the nature of a person cooking food transfers such gunas to the food. The persons who eat also get such gunas. When that product goes out
of the body, that nature also goes with it.
It is a fact and that is why people say: while cooking and also during eating Hari nama smarana is prescribed in Hindu culture.

37. Parasara sage once went to Naimisha aranya {forest}, where all munis (sages) asked him on the
rules of dharma. He said:
Early rising from bed, bowing to elders, early morning bath, Sandhya vandana and prayer; ie. Nitya
karma should be performed.
House should be kept clean and Puja room must be well decorated. He said: manasa puja is the best.
Prayers to Praana pratishtapita Stone idols do present Gods in your presence. Stone prayed to with
devotion to Gods bestows boons, wishes fulfilled. It happened in the past and is happening now also.
Gods present themselves with pleasure. Tulasi to Vishnu, Bilva to Siva and Doorva to Ganapati are
befitting {prefereed}. After food is prepared, it should first be offered to God. Vaisva devam. Along
with guests one should eat food. Even to a chandala, when he comes at the noon, in front of your
threshold, food should be offered, as to a guest with respect.
Bhojana vidhanam: How to take food?
Lotus, Moduga Banana leaves are pious and suit for eating food on them. Iron or Copper plates
should not be used for eating food; brass is permissible; eat solids first, then fluids and last liquid /
watery juicy food. Salty dishes should be avoided. Taambulam should be taken with betel leaves, nut
and chuna after food.
Brahmins should perform Pancha yagjnas. 3 times Sandhya vandan is a must.
Svaadhyaya: Updating recapitulation of knowledge:
Before dinner, Vedas should be recited daily. For some time read the Vedas / philosophical books.
Never sleep in dirty temple, grave yard, river bank, near bushes, or in cross roads. In such a
brahmins house Laxmi Kamadhenu live and he would become a Brahma gjnani. They live full
100 years. Kali wont do any thing. All sins vanish. After natural death such persons go to Brahma
loka. Listening to Sri Guru Charitra endows great knowledge.

Akshaya of food by Gurus Grace

History: Gurus grace renders akshaya.

Namadharakas heart became light by the words and stories said by Siddha. Siddha continued:
History
38. An innocent poor devotee, Bhaskara Sarma came to Sri Math, Ganagapur, with keen interest to offer
Biksha to Sri Guru. He brought Biksha materials with him. Daily, before he proposed, some one else
was offering Biksha and thus 3 months passed. People used to laugh at him that he came there to
lead a guest life only.

Sri Guru came to know of this and one day told Bhaskara: tomorrow you offer Biksha. He was
very happy and touched Sri Gurus feet. Next morning, he procured vegetables etc., and cooked
food. He invited all the disciples as per Sri Gurus advice. They laughed saying, even one grain
would not come to each of them from what Bhaskara brought. Sri Guru came to know of this. Sri
Guru ordered all of them to bring their families and guests for samaaradhana in math.They had to
oblige the order and went to Math with families and guests.
Bhaskara performed Harati to Sri Guru. 4000 leaves were placed for lunch. Bhaskara brought the
food prepared for nivedana to SriGuru, who sprinkled holy water (prokshana) and after nivedana,
Sri Guru covered the food vessels with his shawl. He instructed Bhaskara to take a little by little of
each item from the vessels without removing the shawl and transfer in to big vessels for service and
not to disturb the vessels under the shawl. He did accordingly. On to 4000 leaves, food items were
being served. Food was said to be very tasty and people ate well to their hearts content. The vessels
under the shawl were still brimful and it was a wonder to Bhaskara and the serving 114rahmins. All
the disciples wondered how great Bhaskara Sarmas devotion to Sri Guru was, that enabled food
akshaya. That was Gurus Grace! All the people felt that Annapurna stays with Sri Guru. They
went shouting Sri Guru Maharaj Jai Jai !

Old woman begetting children wonder
.
39. History: The story:
Siddha told Namadharaka that in Ganagapur, there lived an old couple Pandit Somanath and
Gangadevi. She was daily performing Harati to Sri Guru with devotion. She was over 60 years old
and had no children. One day, Sri Guru asked her what was her wish, God Sankara would fulfill it !
She wept saying the villagers did not like to look at her face since she had no children and that
people considered her as a sinner. Progeny was her major life problem and that blessing her with
children at least in next life was her wish.
Sri Guru smiled saying Who has seen next life? In this life itself you will bear children.
To that she submitted, her pilgrimage to Kshetras, Aswatha seva and vratas have consumed life,
gone in vain and now she had passed beyond the child bearing age.
Sri Guru said, dont worry! Your pujas have not gone in vain; continue to encircle Aswatha tree and
do other sevas, dont have doubt, you will get a child. She trusted Svamiji.
She went home and started Saptaha seva. In the 7th night, a Brahmin appeared in dream, asked to do
seven pradikshinas to Sri Guru. Next day she went to river, bathed, encircled aswatha tree and

performed seven pradakshins to Sri Guru, who gave her two fruits. She did paarana, fed 115rahmins
and then ate those fruits prasadam.
The frigidity in her disappered and in a month, the old couple wondered for her pregnancy and nine
months later she delivered a girl child. On the11th day, she took the child to Sri Guru for blessing.
Then, she prayed for an additional boon, for a son. He blessed her with a son. Later she got a son,
who became a vedic pandit and after marriage got 5 children. Thus, the family had grown. The
wonders of Sri Gurus blessings are innumerable, said Siddha. Have faith and continue puja, when
time ripens, results flow in. One who prays with single pointed devotion to Sri Guru will sure, sure
get his wishes fulfilled. There should be full faith and no doubt, Siddha said to Namadharaka.

Is it true and possible? There is an answer. Recent incident in 2014. : At the age of 93 a man got a son, but wife was only
30.
..
Encircling with devotion to Asvatha / peepal / fig (audumber) tree never goes waste. Seva never gets waste. It always
gives fruits. Seven 7 days seva to Guru with pradakshins, Paarana, feeding Brahmins and taking prasadam. The old lady
beyond 60 years of age became pregnant due to fruits prasadam given by Sri Guru and delivered a child.
There is a mystic rejuvenation process unknown to us. Such cases are rare.

Curing Leprosy
Bhavana, faith is pramanam {yad bhavo tad bhavati}

History:
40. Sidha told Nama that one, Narahari Sarma came to Sri Guru. He was suffering from Leprosy. He
was an ardent devotee. He earlier, performed many pujas but of no avail. Yet, he was having faith.
His wife, parents and relatives rejected his company. He came to Ganagapur and on his relentless
prayers, Sri Guru gave a dry fig stick and asked him to plant it on the riverside and water it
regularly. When it will start producing green leaves on its stump, then you will be cured. He said.
The unaware disciples one day came to Sri Guru and told him that innocent Narahari was doing a
mad thing; struggling hard and how that dry stick would ever turn green?
Sri Guru clarified: Bhaavana (thinking in mind with faith of confidence) brings forth results! [yad
bhavo tad bhavati]. He has * trust and therefore he will certainly get result.
Sri Guru observed that Narahari was suffering from the difficult disease, yet constantly praying,
spraying water to the stick regularly, with full faith. He was pleased. One morning, as usual, while
returning from the river, he just sprinkled the mantra jala from kamandala on that planted dry stem.

Lo! It sprang up with green leaves and Naraharis disease disappered. He was initiated in to Vidya
Saraswati mantra by Sri Guru and later given Yogeeswara title.
Sidha told that Narahari went home, brought his family to Ganagapur and served Sri Guru life long.
..
It is to be understood from this incident that Bhaavana, faith is pramanam. Results come in as such. The mantra, a Brahmin priest,
an astrologer and a doctor, Gurus men all get the benefit by faith alone.

Sri Guru gave another incident to Sidha, which is retold to Nama..
One day a prince Dhanunjaya went hunting in forest. At noon, he was tired and thirsty. A local tribal
showed him a water tank in the forest. After taking water, they took rest in an old deteriorated
sivalayam. The tribal saw the Lingam there and was fascinated to take it with him. He did not know
how to do puja.
He enquired the Prince the procedure of Siva puja. Prince told after abhishekam, Chita bhasma
should be applied to lingam. Then food should be offered as niveda. That tribal felt excited, took the
Prince in to his mind, as Guru and installed that Siva Linga near to his tent in that forest village.
Strictly following the puja procedure, he was doing Siva puja daily with flowers, dhoop, deepa and
chita bhasma * (ash of human body from grave yard). After offering nivedana, he was calling his
wife and others, giving Prasadam and then taking food. Without missing even a day, he was doing
this for a long time. It became a practice ti him.
How a wife should be?
Surprisingly, one day he could not get chita bhasma. Finding him in despair, his wife started
thinking how she could solve the problem. Resolved, she said: You take chita bhasma by burning
my body and perform puja! I am your half, physically, mentally and in deed and need! Why
hesitate? I am for you she concluded.
The tribal did not agree. His wife was insisting: God Siva is supreme, if puja is stopped for want of
chita bhasma, how to starve Siva, who is our family deity now? It is sin.
The tribal thought a while; what his wife said was true; Siva is supreme; Chita Bhasma is
essential and having no other alternative, he agreed to her proposal.

He set fire to his hut from outside while his wife was inside. He took her chita bhasma and
completed that days Siva puja.
God protects devotees
Immersed in puja, as usual, he offered nivedana and while calling people for Prasadam, he uttered
his wifes name too (forgetiing about burning her) and Wonder! She came along alive from nowhere
and took prasadam.
When he looked around, his hut was in tact. He asked her how she came?
She replied, I got up and came from the hut. He understood, it was Sivas Grace.
God Siva came and blessed the couple with aishvaryam and stay in Kailasam Isiva sayujyam).

Chita bhasma was used in back yugas. Now Vibhuti bhasma is available for Siva puja. Sacrifice is a divine quality in
human mind. One has to boldly get ready to sacrifice.The tribals, have very less common sense and very high Blind faith
of trust on Guru or leaders words.The woman had the courage even to sacrifice her life for a good cause of her
husband. Wife must support her husband at all times and partcilarly in difficulties.
The faith in Gurus word and trust in husband produce wonderful results.

Sayam devas Guru seva

Guru seva - a tough job
Orders must be strictly followed. If not, problems arise.

41. Having said thus, Siddha narrated how Sayam deva became a disciple of Sri Guru:
After retiring from the service in the Muslim Kingdom, Sayam deva handed over his property to
younger brothers at Uttara Kanchi and came to Ganagapur, (following the advice of Sri Guru 16
years ago [ see chapter 14 page ---] ) to serve life long.
Sayam deva was told Guru seva is not easy. It is a tough job but Sayam was determined to do seva.
He continued to stay and serve there. Four 4 months passed.
One evening, Sri Guru took him to the river Sangamam and sat in meditation. Cyclone started; it
was heavily raining and very cold. Sri Guru told Sayam to go to math and bring fire. He cautioned
him not to see on both the sides. Sayam went meditating on Sri Guru and at the village boundary;
took a pot, went to Math, took fire and while returning, he started thinking (till then he did not get
any thought); why Sri Guru asked him not to see asides; and he started thinking curiosity crept in
his mind, (Sri Gurus order violated) ; he looked on one side; found a Ghata sarpa (giant snake)
coming along; on his other side, found another ghata sarpa. He trembled in fear; he ran amok. He
immediately prayed in mind to Sri Guru and reached Sangamam in the lightning brightness.

He found from a long distance, numerous lights and pious people around Sri Guru; slowly reached
river side, saw Sri Guru only and lights etc. disappeared; lit the fire; saw the two sarpas bowing to
Guru and disappearing. He bowed to Sri Guru.
Sri Guru asked him, why were you so afraid? For your protection only, I sent serpents. Did I not tell
you that Guru seva would be tough?

That night at the river side, Sri Guru told sayamdeva, the story of an incident on Kaasi.
History:
42. It was a gurukulam. Gurupatni and his daughter asked a disciple named Twashta to get (i) a
stitchless jacket (ii) foot wear that walk on water; and (iii) a cabin, which can take inmates any
where they wish, respectively. His Guru asked him to construct an all weather-proof shelter in the
place of the torn hut. The student was sincere and obedient.
He started thinking and going in search; he met an avadhoot (saint) in a forest, who told that in
Kaasi his problems could be solved and took him to Kaasi momentarily and disappeared. Twastha
prayed earnestly to Kaasi Visvesara, to grant the wishes of his Gurus family. Siva granted him the
power to create those things. He came back, created and gave them those things. That is the power
of Kaasi and of its Lord Siva.

It is said: Kaasi is a centre of cosmic power and the city of over 5000 years old. The river Ganga, the most pious rivers
amongst those in the world, flows here on to the north of the city. It is an auspicious sign. One, who has the permission
of Sri Kala Bhairava svami {the commander of the city} can enter the city. None starves here by the Grace of
Annapurna devi. Kaasi is Kailasam on the earth and Lord Siva gives upadesa of Rama taaraka mantra, in to the right
ear of those who renounce the body in Kaasi. They will get freed from human bond. It is a great belief.

Having satisfied with the devotion of Sayam, Sri Guru told him to bring his family and stay in Ganagapur. It is Kaasi, by
itself.

Siddha said: Sayam deva with his wife and son Naganatha were serving Sri Guru in Ganagapur.
Time came for Sri Ananta Padmanabha Svami vratam. Sri Guru in mind as God Sri Ananta
Padmanabha Svami, they performed the Vratam, in ashram.
Sri Guru told them Vrata Katha [story]:
Pandavas performed this Vratam on Sri Krishnas advice and got back their kingdom.
Story:

43. Sumanta, a brahmin had a daughter Susila. She was married to Koundinya. After marriage,
Koundinya took his wife and halted on a river bank for anushtana prayers. Susila saw there some
women performing some puja. She went near to them and enquired what puja they were doing. They
replied: Sri Ananta Padmanabha Swami Vratam. She too joined them and performed the vratam
sincerely. The flour she had brought for midway food was given as vaayana daana. Those women
tied Thoram [brace let thread] around her wrist.
Then, Koundinya and Susila went to the ashram. By the Grace of Ananta, they became very rich and
prosperous.
After about a year, Susila again performed theVratam at home and wore thoram. Due to praarabdha,
Koundinya * misunderstood the red thoram in wifes wrist as vasikarana kriya, got angry on wife,
and threw it in fire. Susila caught hold of it, immersed in milk and prayed to Ananta to save them.
Then onwards Koundinya lost peace of mind, wealth, and became utterly poor. Later, he realised the
cause for his miserable conditions was his suspicion of Ananta thoram. He went in search of Ananta
deva, lost way and got in to a forest.
He saw a mango tree without fruits, two useless lakes water flowing from one in to the other; a cow
and calf not eating grass and an ox in grass field, a donkey and an elephant.

He enquired all of them about Ananta, and they all said they did not know. Tired, he fell
unconscious.
God Ananta mercifully, in disguise as a brahmin, took him to a house and consoled him. Koundinya
was praying for Ananta and enquired the brahmin about what he saw on the way. The brahmin said:
A Vedic pundit was proud and never taught any one; so he took birth as useless mango tree in forest.
One rich fellow never fed Brahmins in his life time and so he became an animal but ashamed of
eating grass. A greedy king gave useless land to Brahmins and took birth as an ox roaming in forest.
The lakes you saw are Dharma and Adharma. A man always abusing others became a donkey. One
who sold his ancestral property of Dharma and made money took birth as an elephant. The Brahmin
you saw is Myself Ananta.
So, go and do My puja vratam for 14 years, you will be granted Star position in the sky.
Koundinya came home and told his wife what had happened. They restarted Sri Ananta Padmanabha
Vratam, performed for 14 years. They were prosperous with big family and today we can see
Koundinya star in the sky.
Sayam was blessed with four more sons after performing the vratam.

Sri Ananta Padmanabha Svami Vratam wards off poverty and grants prosperity. It removes all Sarpa doshas.The puja
grants perennial growth (vamsa vruddhi) of family.
On Bhadrapada Sukla Chaturdasi, exactly 11 days after Vinayaka Chaviti (Ganesh Chaturdhi) this vratam is observed. This
may be individually celebrated at home or in group in temple or mandapam collectively, on a large scale.
Leaves of Kusa (Darbha) laced with 14 junctions placed in a kalasam and similarly laced silk red thread (thoram) as
bracelet and abhisheka puja with cow milk and 14 varieties of dishes to be nivedana and sincere bhakti are essential. It
should be performed for 14 years annually. Brahmins should be fed and honoured after puja. At night, meals should not be
taken by those wearing thoram.
Lord Krishna and Goddess Yamuna are the presiding deities.
Procedure: Puja to Yamuna ; puja to Sri Ananta Padmanabha Svami; Sri Krishna Ashtothar; puja to Thoram with 14
Grandhis ; reading Ananta Vrata Katha (Story). This should be done to alleviate poverty.
14 varieties of food nivedana - all items in 14 nos.; Vaayana daanam to Brahmin.
It is a powerful auspicious grand festival rich in the grant of boons

44. For Siva ratri, a weaver devotee,by name, Tantuka, did not leave Sri Guru, while his parents went
to Srisailam. Sri Guru asked him why did he not go with them ? He replied, in Your feet all tirthas
are there, so I am here. Sri Guru asked him, have you seen Srisilam? He said No.
Svami wore padukas and said: Come on, hold My Paadukas firmly and close your eyes; and in a
moment, they were in Sri sailam. He told him to open his eyes. Go to Patala ganga, take bath and
pray to Mallikarjuna Lingam and come back.
Tantuka was very happy to see Srisailam and the Krishna river Patalaganga. His parents and
villagers met him on the river bank. They asked when he arrived; he told truth, they did not believe
and said you might have come behind us slowly.
He took Bilvam bel leaves and flowers, went to Siva linga darshan. Surprisingly, he found Sri Guru
there in the place of lingam, all praying to Him only. With prasadam, he came back to Sri Guru, who
asked him whether he would stay back in Srisailam. He replied, I did not find Lingam at all. Sri
Guru told him God is every where, but His Grace and Pleasure are fast evinced in holy places; asked
him to hold His Paadukas firmly and close eyes; he did; they returned to Ganagapur momentarily.
Other devotees and villagers, finding the weaver hair cut and Prasadam from Srisailam in hand, got
astonished at his momentary visit to Srisailam and did not believe his words. After 15 days, when
his parents and other villagers arrived from Srisailam, they found what weaver Tantuka said was
true. Tantuka served Sri Guru life long. Gurus grace does wonders, said Siddha.

Sangama bath - Leprosy cure

Doubt at heart keeps the patch - Guru can change the fate

History:
45. One Nandi Sarma was afflicted by leprosy. He visited Tuljapur, served Goddess Bhavani for 3
years.She appeared to him in vision and directed to Goddess Chandalesvari.He then went there and
prayed Her for 7 months. She appeared in dream and directed him to go to Ganagapur and serve a
Sanyasi. He got fed up. He was not interested in serving humans.At last, having no alternative, he
went to Ganagapur and bowed to Sri Guru. When Sri Guru asked him why to serve humans, he
repented, realized and begged for pardon. Sri Guru asked him to take bath in Sangamam river,
dispose off old clothes and do Aswatha tree pradakshin. He did so and came back to Sri Guru, who
asked him to look at his own body; surprise! Leprosy had gone leaving a small patch at leg. He
enquired Sri Guru, why that small patch remained. He clarified, the doubt at heart kept that balance.

After this, Sarma with full faith trusted Sri Guru as Supreme and composed Songs, by Sri Gurus
Grace. That remaining patch of leprosy also left his body, for ever. He was fully cured.
A little doubt resulted in remnants of the disease. Pray further, in full faith; cure is full.
Vibhuti, when Sri Guru placed on his tongue, Nandi Sarma became pandit Kavi.
Sri Guru can change the fate (Brahma likhitam can be altered by the great Sri Guru)
Nandis poems are famous even now.Nandi served Sri Guru life long.

Kallesvar Linga Narkesar kavi

Sadguru on ashta lingas - Kallesvar is sadguru
....
History: Siddha told another incident:
46. Village Hippagiri (Hippargi?), about 2 km. near to Ganagapur has a Sivalayam. A poet, Narkesar
was writing daily 5 stanzas on Kallesvar and chanting them. Once the villagers invited Sadguru and
asked the poet Narkesar to write poems on Sri Sadguru but he refused saying his tongue was
dedicated to Kallesvar only. That night he saw in dream Sadguru on ashta lingas and puja was done
by narkesara to Him only. He realised Kallesvar is sadguru only.
Next morning he went to Sadguru and prayed to accept him as his disciple. Guru accepted and told
him He would be in Kallesvar Lingam and could continue his puja. He served Sri Guru life long and
wrote many poems which are popular now also.

Sri Gurus Ashta rupa { Kama rupa}

Incident:
47. Once, the devotees from 8 adjoining villages requested Svamiji to visit their homes on Deepavali.
Sri Guru told I would visit only one house. As they were in 8 separate villages, He asked them
You decide. They were fighting saying Sri Guru was theirs, theirs; then Sri Guru called them one
by one and in their ears said Dont tell others, I will come to your house.
Deepavali came and Ghanagapur people requested Him not to go to other villages, as they wanted to
celebrate the festival in his presence.He agreed to them.
On Dhana Trayodasi, He took Kama rupa dharana, went to those 7 villages, blessed them and
returned to Ganagapur, while remaining in Ganagapur. He was one only.On Kaartika pournima, the
devotees from all the 7 villages joined in Ganagapur and were discussing that Sri Guru was with

them individually. They understood that He was with them all individually and severally at the same
time.

Peasants story Fore casting Cyclone

Blind strong faith in Sri Guru

History:
48. A peasant, by name, Parvat was bowing to Sri Guru every morning while He was going from math
to river and returning. Sri Guru asked why he was saluting? He said: If you step in my field, my
hope is that the crop will be good. He requested to bless his crop, enabling his family to live in
happiness and peace.The field was growing well with crop.
Sri Guru asked whether he would carry out His instructions, to which he said, Yes.Then, Sri Guru
instructed him to cut the crop before noon, urgently.
Agreeing to pay higher royalty fee, paying double labour wages, he got the crop cut with huge
labour and kept secure.
While returning, Sri Guru saw the cut crop and told him: your faith will yield good results!
People termed him mad.
Nine 9 days later, a cyclone came; all other fields got inundated and damaged, but the cut field
plants of Parvat produced ten times more crop than normal. Parvat, his family and all the villagers
got astonished. Whole village went to Sri Guru and prayed!

(The standing Corn crop falls down by cyclone while the cut crop plants lying horizontally become fertile growing
paddy in the ground level.
A standing tree is washed off by wind and rain, a lying grass produces graincrop.)

Sri Gurus sister, Ratnai, getting cured

Papa vimochanam - sins of the past 7 lives get washed away.

In Ganagapur, the confluene (Sangam) of Bhima and Amaraja rivers is like Ganga Yamuna. It is like
Kaasi.
Sri Guru was telling: During the wars of devatas and demons, when devatas were becoming dead,
Lord Siva sprinkled Amrit on Devatas and they were getting up alive. The Amrut nectar pot from the
hands of Indra tilted and a little of Amrut fell in to the Sangam. It is flowing as Amaraja river. It is
like Triveni Sangam. Bath here gives wonderful good effects. Kaasi Visveswar gives darshan to
devotees in this place.

49. At that time, Sri Gurus sister, Ratnai came there. Sri Guru said: she became a leper, due to pouring
water, in her previous life, inadvertently in to an empty pot, in which a cat kept her 5 babies. They
died and the sin arising due to this, Ratnai was attacked by leprosy in this life. She bowed and
prayed to Sri Guru for cure. He asked her to take dip in Papavinasa Sangam and do pradakshin to the
Audumber tree. She did for 3 days and got cured of leprosy. She settled in math.
Sri Guru assured that whoever takes bath with Bhakti and full faith in Papavinasanam teertham
Sangamam), their sins of the past 7 lives get washed away.

The 8 teerthas there are as powerful as Gaya, Kaasi, Gokarna.That is why Sri Guru stayed here.

The muslim King - Renunciation

[Washerman in previous life, now a king. Sreepadas devotee.(See chap.9)]
By Bhasma and sprinkling mantra jala, boys Life came back. Mahatmas Grace cures incurable diseases
Kings Ulcer disappeared

Siddha told Namadharaka:
After Sripada Sri Vallabha Svami blessed Rajaka (See chap.9) he became the king of Mydaara
[Vaidhuryapuram Bidar] in his next life.
50. The king was suffering from an ulcer on his thigh for 23 years. He was a devotee of Svamiji in
earlier life, as washerman to Sripada Sri Vallabha.
On a brahmins advice, he went to papavinasanam; took bath and finding a yogi there, he sought for
remedy to his ulcer. That yogi proclaimed: Mahatmas darshan cures sins. He gave an incident.
..
Story:
Once, a brahmin was in the company of a harlot named Pingala. Vrushabha yogi came there and for
a few hours only, the Brahmin and Pingala served him. In the next life, he was born as son to the
queen of king Vajrabahu. The second wife of the king poisoned the queen during her pregnancy and
so, both the queen and son were afflicted with skin and body ailments. Later they were abandoned in
a forest.
The sheperds handed them over to another king Padmakar, who consoled and took them to his city.
The boy died there. Luckily Vrushabha Yogeeswar Mahatma was there in the kingdom. He realised
the boys previous life with Pingala and his service then, in that life. He applied Vibhuti Bhasma and
sprinked mantra jala on the boy. The boy got his life back. His mother also was treated for skin
ailments and was cured.

Quoting the incident, that yogi told the muslim king to go to Ganagapur to get his ulcer cured.
The Yavana king went to Ganagapur and bowed to Sri Guru, who asked Rajaka, where are you?..
At the sight of Sri Guru, the king got memory (smriti) of his past life and said, By Your Grace I am
fine but the ulcer is troubling me he said. Sri Guru mercifully saw at him and asked Where is it ?
. The king searched but there was no ulcer then. Thus, Mahatmas Grace cures incurable
diseases.
The king prayed to Sri Guru to visit his city but Sri Guru agreed he would see him at Papavinasa
teertha.
Naganatha, the son of Sayamdeva performed Sahasra jana samaradhana in honour of Sri Guru.
From there, Sri Guru went to Papavinasanam to be available to the king.
Sri Guru was taken to the city on Ambari Palki and was honoured. The king, his wife, their children
and citizens had Sri Guru darshan and blessings. The king expressed his desire to serve Sri Guru. To
that, He advised to handover the kingdom to his son Prince and visit Him in Sri Sailam in the year
Bahudhanya. Sri Guru after completing Goutami yatra went back to Ganagapur.
[History: The muslim king was Allauddin 2 who ruled the state from 27-2-1435 to 13-2-1458. He passed away in 1458-59, later to
the visit of Sri Guru to the city and did not go to Srisailam. ]
Thus said Siddha.

51. Sri Guru called the four disciples one day and told:
My presence is now well known. Many sinners also are coming for blessings. Hence forth, I will be
in in obscure form and in reach only for the righteous, repentents and Sadhakas. I am going to
Srisailam under the pretext of pilgrimage, but would always stay in Ganagapur to bless the devotees.
Having come to know that Sri Guru was leaving for Srisailam, all the villagers came to the math in
large numbers, bowed and prayed him to stay urging We have a boat (ie. Sri Guru) to cross the
ocean of samsara and if You leave this place, who would be there for us? They were all in grief. To
that He said:
Always I will be here! I will not leave Ganagapur
In Bheema - Amaraja sangam, I will bathe daily, be latent in Niyama (Yoga).
I will take morning bath in Krishna Pancha nadi sangam; be in Audumbari;
Incessant Bhakti of the devotees brings Me to them.

I will seek my noon biksha in Ganagapur and accept prayers in the math;
I am leaving my Nirguna Paadukas in the math; who ever performs puja harati with clean
heart devotion and thinks of Me only, their wishes will be fulfilled !
Seva to Aswaatha tree will fulfill all the desires of My devotees.
He instructed them to recite every day Guru stuti in Ganagapur.
Lighting up daily three (3) times Haarati, your desires get fulfilled;
Pray to Chintamani Ganapati; quick results come;
Readers of My Charitra are very dear to Me; their wishes get fulfilled. I stay in
their houses; Akhanda Lakshmi, Ashta siddhis, Ashta aishvaryas will stay in their
homes. They get Mukti.
He suddenly disappeared momentarily; Nirguna paadukas were there in his place; then He again
appeared to them and said: This is the truth and Promise !
Later, when the villagers went to the Math, surprisingly Sri Guru was there. While seeing Him,
again He disappeared. Thus, He is inconspicuously in the Math, even now.
Sri Guru left for Srisailam accompanied by disciples: Sayamdeva, Nanda kavi, Narahari and Siddha.

52. At Patalaganga in Srisailam, a large number of people gathered to have darshan of Sri Guru.
As per His instructions one year ago, the disciples who went for pilgrimage came here for darshan.
They bowed to Sri Guru and that was the last. The muslim king [Rajaka, in earlier life) was not
there [he died earlier.]
Darshan of Mahatmas and Gurus evaporates mans sins.
Ganga papam Sashi taapam dainyam kalpa taru stadha
Paapam taapam cha dainyam cha haret Sri Guru darsanam!!
Sri Guru told the four disciples: Sayam deva, Nanda kavi, Narahari and Siddha muni to prepare a
special flower garden float with Kamala, Kalhara, Malati and Madalara flowers over banana leaves
and sat on it with Varada hastam. The moment Sri Guru was about to start to move, immense
uncontrollable grief clouded the disciples and public witnessing the scene..
The last words:
Sri Guru was then mandasmita (Light smiling heart) with varada hasta.

Sri Guru kindly uttered:
I will stay in Ganagapur math and receive puja invisibly
I will visit devotees homes
On call, I will be present in front of devotees
I will take morning bath in Krishna Pancha nadi sangam [Narsobavadi]
Noon bath in Bhima - Amaraja Sangam; Ganagapur
I will have Biksha at noon in Ganagapur
I will be in Audumbari
His Promise:: Day and night I will be at Ganagapur;
Thinking of Me, surrender at the Padukas. Puja haarati with pure

heart to paadukas will fulfill all desires ;
I will be present in front of the prayers of devotees songs.
Readers of My Charitra are very dear to Me; their wishes get fulfilled. I stay in
their houses; Akhanda Lakshmi, Ashta siddhis, Ashta aishvaryas will stay in their
homes. They get Mukti.
Sri Guru told them finally:

Dont get panic, go and stay in Ganagapur. On reaching the destination, I will send Malli (Jasmine)
Sampenga, and other flowers as prasadam. May you all be in Joy and Bliss!
Blessing thus with Grace, He sailed. All those present had noticed the disappearance of the float on
the stream in a moment and a Pushpak Viman flying there.
That was Bahudhanya samvatsara Uttarayana, Kumbha Sankranti, Sisira Rutu, Magha masa dark
half, Krishna paksha Padyami, Sukravar - Friday; 1459.
People were waiting on the bank, with grief, for some more time, unable to leave the site.
In a moment, two navigators came and told the awaiting disciples, that they saw Sri Guruji; who
spoke to them that His name was: Sri Narasimha Sarasvati and that He was going to Kadali Vana
Svasthan but would be in Ganagapur and on reaching destination, would send flowers as prasadam
to his disciples.
The next moment, four 4 flowers came floating against the stream. Sayam deva, Nanda kavi,
Narahari and Siddha muni took, one each, with hearts immersed in the thought of Sri Guru. Siddha
showed that flower (which he preserved with him) to Namadharaka.
The four disciples then went to Ganagapur. The villagers were anxiously waiting for them and
enquired of Sri Guru. They were shown the flowers, explaining the total episode at Srisailam,
Krishna river, Papanasanam. All of them went to the Math and saw Sri Guru there momentarily in

the place of His paadukas. He then disappeared. In His place His paadukas were again there. Their
hearts were happy feeling Sri Guru was there with them in the math, inconspiculously, as well as
conscpicuously, said Siddha to Namadharaka.

Siddha continued telling Namadharaka:
Sri Guru is all pervading Narayana. He spreads in to the animate and inanimate and takes human
form to uplift the devotees and grant deliverance{Moksham}. Those who read Sri Guru Charitra
with devotion and continue His nama sankeertana (japa) are dear and close to Him. They will be
bestowed with purushaardhas (Dharma, ardha, kama, moksha), the four abodes of human destination
of life and out of Yamas sight. Listening to Sri Guru Charitra with devotion destroys all sins and
grants all wishes. Surrender at Sri Guru padukas. This book, Sri Guru Charitra, should be packed in
clean cloth, kept at pious place and prayed to, with full heart. Akhanda Lakshmi stays there happily.
This is true and a Promise.
Siddha concluded.

53. Namadharaka had thus been blessed with the maha upadesa of Sri Guru Charitra amrut from Siddha
muni.
With ecstatic heart full of bhakti and bliss, his trembling body shivered in vibrations, face glamoured
and shed ananda love tears from his eyes. He was in a state of Samadhi yoga.
Nama opened his eyes, saw Siddha and stated: He Guru! By this amrut, I am now krutakrutya,
blessed!
Siddha then told him being in Samadhi does not bring fruits to people. Keeping heart on Sri Gurus
lotus feet, impart the golden words of Sri Guru Charitra amrut to the deserving in the world. (This is
Guru dakshina to Sidha)
Sidha gave a serial re-view of Sri Guru Charitra to Namadharaka for recapitulation. This is for the
sake of the deserving devotees. He told Nama: Due to the adharma in the world, Sri Guru is
inconspicuous and lives obscure in Sri Guru Charitra and lives in the pure hearts of the devotees.
Saptaha parayana of Sri Guru Charitra washes off all sins and grants Sri Guru darshan. This is
promise! There is no doubt at all. Treat this book as Sri Guru svarupa. Have full trust.

Namadharaka got up to take leave and Siddha Muni disappered.
He reached Ganagapur, took bath in Sangamam, did pradakshin to Asvatha tree and then had
darshan of Sri Guru padukas. He performed puja. His heart became light, felt satisfied, blessed with
