Entry 1: Technology to Support Communication

Having Technology is important in a comprehensive classroom because it factors in the
effectiveness of childrens learning and it improves the skills of the teacher. Also Technology
bridges parents, teachers, students, and community to have a better communication that will
influencing the students educational success. It allows the teacher to communicate through
different means like face book, twitter, email, podcast, Skype just to name a few in order to assist
students with home work, assessments and projects in a more efficient manner. There for by
using Technology to support communication is became a growing trend that will benefit parents,
student, teachers, and the community at large.
Technology to Enhance Communication
Social Media:
Since Social Media is so informative in modern society and has become a growing
presence in the classroom. As educators in our classroom social media is a great tool to be able to
reach our students, parents and community through communication. With the importance of
technological literacy, teachers need to be ready to integrate social media both effectively and
safely as they prepare and engage students, parents and community. There are several steps need
to be implement to assess the learning environment. Being able to examine the classroom,
teachers can determine which social media tool will work best for their students in researching
social media platforms, finding advantages and disadvantages, create policy for social media,

implement boundaries to establish the safety of the students and those using these sights. Social
media has become an accustom tool to this generation of students. We are able to tweet, Face
book, Instagram, and blog, which is another way for teachers to continue the trend with social
media and implement it in the classroom is an vital tool to stimulate students learning. By
combining writing with online technology, teachers can provide opportunities for students and
future educators to develop their digital fluency while also strengthening their traditional literacy
skills (Witte, 2007). As social media continue to be a big part of our classrooms as Educators
moves-on we have the ability to integrate social media platforms into the classroom introducing
this to the curriculum and classroom will become paramount to teachers success.
Instant Messaging and Skype:
There is so much use of Instant messaging services that has now grown beyond just real
time text chats. There is also the use audio and video chats you can use, share applications,
transfer your files and more. As a result, Skype in Education, a social-networking Web resource
for educators who want to forge ties with similarly minded colleagues, was unveiled in beta form
in December to 300 people chosen from more than 3,000 who applied to be part of the sites pilot
phase, says Skype spokeswoman Jacqueline Botterill. Skype is another resource that is a
countless use of technology in the classroom; Skype is available free to those who want to
communication it allows you to video calls, instant message, and video conference on-line. This
is an excellent way to have and schedule parent/teacher conferences with parents whose work or
other commitments that would hinder them from coming to the schools. Not that you can make a
call home more effective by speaking with the student and parent(s) together. By using Skype in
professional training you are able to communicate with national educator, experts that travels
outside of your district who would typically break your budget you can setup an inter-district

conferences with teachers and staffs to calibrate notes with schools and districts who have found
success in facing similar challenges. Using Skype will not only bring the classroom to life but it
will open many opportunities to other schools across the globe.

Internet Service:
This is another great communication tool that will enhance the way we us technology in
the classroom. The internet is great for getting information by using the computers, Smartphone,
tablets, and laptops. You can find that the internet offers an exceptional opportunity to use
educational resources that can link student accomplishments in school and at home. The
curriculum side, such resources should extend the presentation, recreation, and information
display involvements of the teachers while, the home and personal side, they should provide both
individual and cooperative assignment work proposals for students, exercise and self-assessment
tools, optional information and advance learning, and lecture resources. Internet in the classroom
offers the possibility of combining in the day-to-day work in class. As internet use has become a
daily part of most student lives, students must know how to protect themselves and their identity
at all times, especially when teachers and parents are not there to help them. Teaching students
about internet safety is another vital and important part of using the internet service for as long as
the internet has existed. Internet services through the educational systems always make sure that
all students have internet access at home and school. It is crucial stated Helen Brunner, 2011
As a result, access to the internet has become a need-to-have, not just a nice-to-have when it
comes to a student success.

Email:
The Email is certainly another well-known device in which the teacher uses in the
classroom. Email is use on the computer, tablets, Ipad, Smartphones and many other devises. A
person must possess an email address and be able to assess their email by internet resources. In
todays society, children are emailing their peers every day. Teachers are force to email their
students a variety of homework assignments and notification on projects. The parents must have
an email address to be able to receive notification from the teachers and the community on
upcoming events. It is believe that this can be helpful to the student and the parents as well as the
teachers. But it could be a problem as well because some students are from poverty areas and do
not have access to computers. Some parents are not able to purchase computer for their children
so they have to visit the liberty to do their assignments. Email is the transmission of messages
and files via the internet. This is one of the original fathers of the internet society. This is one of
the primary communications method for both personal and business.
Communication Internet Security and Safety
Web safety, or online safety or internet safety is the knowledge of maximizing the users
personal safety and security risks to private information and property associated with using the
internet, and the self-protection from computer crime in general. Among youth, the level of
Smartphone and mobile device is even higher (80 percent among the 18-34 segment, a primary
college target group). Notably, Smartphone ownership is even higher among the Black/NonHispanic (63 percent) and Hispanic (60 percent) population than the White/Non-Hispanic (53

percent). This suggests mobile media may be particularly effective as a teaching and learning
platform for minority populations. Of course, these networked digital technologies raise
important privacy issues that must be managed in an effective manner to protect students
privacy rights (Douthat, 2013). Many teachers also have parents and students sign an acceptable
use policy (Gunter, 2014, pp.411-441) Furthermore, students should be encouraged to never give
out personal information without first talking to a teacher or parent about it. Once students know
what to expect and have signed the acceptable use policy, teachers should periodically monitor
what students are looking at online (Vitalaki, Tsouvelas, 2012, pp.125-135). Social networking
and chat sites have pages that are gears about safety. Various groups, government, and
organizations have uttered concerns about the safety of children using the internet.

Conclusion
As we conclude, technology developments have both positive and negative influences on
our daily lives. Since we can effortlessly and in expensively communicate with our love all over
the world. However there are many draw backs of having a technologically obsessed society
which are evident in the limitless hours that adults and teenagers spend on their computers on a
daily bases. As much time spent using and communicating through high-tech devices this takes
away the quality time away from interacting face to face with others, socializing and maintaining
our physical health.
