shapes in our environment.

Review the 4 shapes we have been
talking about; circle, square,
rectangle, and triangle.
Have the students give the
characteristics of each.
Have the students look around the
room and see what shapes they can
find. Let a few share with the class.
Introduce todays activity.
Tell the students that they will be
paired up and given a shape to find
around the room or in the hallway.
Together the students must take three
pictures of their shape.
Then they will make their shape talk
by using the ChatterKid app.
Lastly they will share it with the class,
once everyone has finished.
Go over the rules.
Use the video premade
Tell the students that a very special
dog is here to tell them the rules for
this activity. Its my dog Hannah.
Play the video
After go over the rules that Hannah
talked about.
No running around the classroom
Stay with your partner
Share the ipad
Dont disturb other groups
When in the hallway use a quiet voice.
In the hallway they cant go past room
10 and the water fountain.
Show the students how to use ChatterKid.
Take a picture of something random.
Show the students how to record over
it and draw a mouth.

They will pick one of their three

shapes to talk.
The shape will need to say what part
of the classroom it came from, what
shape it is, how many sides and
corners it has, and if the sides are all
the same length.
After that they can have it say any
other characteristics they want it to
say.
7. Release the students
Call the partners up and give them an
ipad and their shape and let them
start finding their shape.
8. Let the students work on their shape
animations.
Walk around and look for students
who need help.
Ask the students questions about
what they are doing and what they
chose to record.
For early finishers allow them to make
a list of other places they have seen
their shape in the environment.
9. Call the students back over to the carpet
with their ipads.
Let each group come up and show the
animation they made out of their
picture.
Have the students clap after each
group.
10.
Once done praise the students good
behavior.
Thank them for their hard work and
cool animations.
11.
Have the students return the ipads to
the back table and go back to their seats to
get ready for I/E time.

E. What Could Go Wrong The students may struggle with using the app ChatterKids.
For students who have trouble with the app the teacher will

help them by giving them directions or answering any

questions they may have.

The students may begin to get off task. For students who
get off task the teacher will redirect their attention. The
teacher will ask questions about their animation and
recording to bring them back and keep them engaged. If it
is a group around causing a distraction then move the
group to a different location so they may both focus on the
task.
