Conclusion
1. Why is it important to recognize challenges and barriers during the charrette and then identify
solutions?
It is important to recognize challenges and barriers during the charrette because many people are
available to discuss potential solutions. Many brains are able to create the best possible solution.
2. Among the ideas or thoughts that you prepared for the charrette, were there any that were
disregarded by the group? Why? Do you think it was the right decision?
There were some ideas that were disregarded by the group because they were not the best possible
solution to the situation. It was the right decision because it eliminated a view or design that did not
agree with the groups vision.
3. What is the value of using a charrette to investigate the feasibility and development of a
building project? Describe specific advantages over a traditional approach in which the client
meets with an architect and the architect develops the plan.
Charettes are valuable because they allow people from all professions to have group discussions.
This is better than the typical approach because it allows all problems to be discovered early and it
allows for the best interests of all stakeholders.
4. Identify and explain a potential drawback of the plan your team drafted.
The design our team drafted did not include a ceiling over the roof or any protection from poor
weather that could affect the customers who sit there. The fire pit on the roof could also be a risk.

Cost estimators collect and analyze data to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to
manufacture a product or construct a building. Areas of expertise include collecting and analyzing
data.
What issues are you responsible for that potentially no other stakeholders would know about?
Cost estimators are responsible for estimating the amount of money, time, materials, and labor
required that other stakeholders would not know about.

Going into the charrette, list the top five issues in order of importance that you want to address
during the meeting.

I would like to discuss the budget, the final design plans, the deadline, the eccentricity of the building,
and the small, yet large, details of the behind the scenes.
List any other important notes to yourself as you prepare for the charrette.
I need a list of all the design aspects in the final design and talk to the client to discover what they
prefer for their property.
