LINK CREW HELPS FRESHMEN

AVOID SIMPLE CHALLENGES

OR ALMOST A MONTH after

transferring to the school during his
sophomore year, Aziz Shakarzahi would
still walk through the mall when he needed
to go to classes.
I recall not knowing you could
go across from B wing to C wing,
Shakarzahi, now a senior, said.
Shakarzahi didnt have a chance to go
to freshman orientation because he moved
here his sophomore year, but he wanted to
make sure other students didnt struggle
with the basics like he did, so he joined
Link Crew.

QUIZ

Demonstrate your KNOWLEDGE of campus classes, clubs and ACTIVITIES

CAMPUS EXPERT?
IN THE LINE AT FRESHMAN ORIENTATION, freshman
Anya Coleman waits to get her papers and information.
Along with paying attention to the directions she was
receiving, Coleman listened as teachers greeted her as
they walked by. It was really exciting that I got to meet
new people and got to explore the school that I will be
attending for the next four years, Coleman said.

GOT THEM ALL RIGHT?

School spirit is definitely
a big part of who you are.
Im not sure if you cheated
or youre just dedicated,
but either way you did
well. Now if only you could
score this well in calculus,
youd be doing great.
GOT MOST RIGHT?
You seem to know your
school, but not all of it. Go
look at the ones you got
wrong and try again after
looking in the yearbook a
bit more.
GOT NONE RIGHT?
Try again. Several times.
Do you even go to this
school? If you dont, you
should be able to figure
out the answers by reading
this yearbook. Try again.
When youre done, redeem
yourself.

STUDENT MENTORS
LEAD ORIENTATION

Crew of EXPERIENCED
students LINK up with freshmen

1 WHILE LEADING students to get

their first Stony Point ID, senior CJ
Fox teaches his group about dress
code. Multiple groups of freshmen and
leaders were in the hall at one time. I was
overwhelmed with the tons of freshmen
in the halls, but I wanted them to have a
good time Fox said. They were really
nice. 2 FRESHMAN LEAH ALBERS
gets signed in so she can participate in
activities during orientation. 3 DURING
DISCUSSIONS and introductions held
in the gym, junior cheerleader Syren
Sandoval sits and looks at the loud
crowd with her team. I wasnt going to
let my frustration ruin the pep rally,
but I was glad when it was over,
Sandoval said.

IN FRONT OF THE CROWD,

freshman Patrick Shipman

questions. I won a shirt,
Shipman said. I still have it.

SINGING THE SCHOOL SONG,

junior Ally Rojas stands among
the freshmen in the bleachers
after introducing them to their
new school. Along with giving
freshmen a little insight to the
campus, the event allowed
students to make connections
with others. I met people who
were nice to me, Rojas said.
WITH A BIKINI TOP SHIRT,
senior Deven Suarez shows the
freshman what not to wear. We
tried to show an extreme, but
make it amusing, Suarez said.

TO ENERGIZE THE CROWD,

counselor Jeff Pugh and assistant
principal Duane Flowers chest
bumps. We tried to make the
kids comfortable, Pugh said.
