Listening to every word said

on stage, Production II student,
senior Claudia Lozano, takes
the lead. Its the week of tech
and dress rehearsals and, for
five weeks, her crew has worked
on the set and her cast has been
on stage practicing the lines
to Remember Me, a play she
wrote during the summer.
I wanted to be ready when
auditions came, so I started
writing in July, while I was on
vacation.
Remember Me, a senior
direct play, opened on October
17 and ran through October 18
in the schools cafeteria.
Senior directs are plays that
are produced, directed, cast
and sometimes written by the
students in Production II.
Senior directs are all student
led, teacher Sunshine Morgan
said. It is the first time that
they are getting a taste of
directing.
Lozano wrote her play,
Remember Me, about a
celebrity, Bonnie Banks, who
ends up being stalked by a man,
Joe Lacey.
I got inspired by the movie,
My Week with Marilyn,
Lozano said. Seeing how fame
affected Marilyn Monroe led
me to think about how famous
people feel when fans go to
extreme.

The difficulty in
actually learning
the dances. I try
really hard to get
them down and I

finally get them. I
feel accomplished.

sing a lot, and I
enjoy doing it.

through a traumatic event

where she almost gets mobbed
by her fans. Then, she is nearly
kidnapped.
The play begins a month
later after trauma in Bonnies
life. It starts with her skipping
events because she is scared to
go out.
As the cast prepared for the
opening night, Lozano had
everyone, including the cast,
crew and herself, working to
perfect the show.
We rehearsed and set up the
scene, Lozano said. We even
did a photo shoot for senior
Allee Jackson (Bonnie Banks)
and senior Kris Ruiz (Joe
Lacey). I expected for my cast
to make a beautiful show for
the audience to enjoy.
Dinner for Seven directed
by senior Carolina Naranjo
and senior Daniela Balda also
opened on October 17.
I felt way better than I
did two or three weeks ago,
Lozano said. It actually came
together. Obviously, I was
nervous for my show, but over
time I became fine and pretty
comfortable with it.
The theater department will
continue with senior directs on
December 12-13. Senior Riley
McMahon will present The
Magic Tower and senior Sarah
Ramirez will present, a play
written by her, Without You.
Senior Hunter Lewin will also
be directing.
