OBJECTIVE:

To clean and passivate, and maintain chilled water system for a trouble-free operation.

III. CLEANING & PASSIVATION PROCEDURE

1. It is assumed prior to chemical cleaning that hydrotesting has been done and the
system is free from any leak. Flush the system to remove debris and other loose
dirt/particles or corrosion products. Flushing should be done at 1.0 3.0 m/s water
velocity, until the recirculating water is clear. A sample shall be collected thereafter
marked with system identification, date and labeled FLUSH.
Note 1: Ensure there is adequate supply of water for a successful cleaning andflushing
job.
2. Then fill the system with clean potable water and dose CLEAN GUARD 70F02 at (1
Liter/1000 Liters of water) of system volume. Recirculate the cleaning solution in the
system for 48 hours. This will clean the surface oxide from the metal and prepare the
metal surface for passivation.
3. After minimum 48 hours of circulation, drain the system. Flush the system with clean
potable water until the recirculating water is clear and quality is equivalent to that of the
supplied water. A sample shall be collected thereafter marked with system identification,
date and labeled CLEAN.
4. Once desired water quality is achieved, passivation should be immediately done. Fill
the system with clean potable water and dose CLEAN GUARD 70F03 at (1 Liter/1000
Liters of Water). Allow to circulate. After 24 hours, dose the Chemical CORRO
GUARD 33L01 & BIO GUARD 40408 together at the same system volume as above.
This will provide nitrite residual within 800-1200 ppm range. Allow the treated water to
circulate. A sample shall be collected thereafter marked with system identification, date
and labeled FINAL.
5. The final sample then will be given for testing at GULF LAB.
6. The stage of flushing, cleaning and passivation is over at this process. The system is
now ready for operation and regular maintenance treatment shall only be required.

IV. REGULAR TREATMENT

REGULAR MAINTENANCE DOSE:

Nitrite residual in the system must be maintained at 800-1200ppm. Whenever make-up is done
due to system loss or partial draining due to maintenance job, CLEAN GUARD 70F02 &
70F03 shall be dosed at (1 Liter/1000 Liters) based on make-up
To control bacterial growth, BIO GUARD 40408 biocide shall be dosed monthly at 50ppm,
based on system volume.
The chemically treated water parameters shall be maintained as follows:

VI. SCOPE OF WORK FOR CLEANING & PASSIVATION PROGRAMME
The specific responsibilities for the project are as follows:
A. Client AL MAFTOL TRADING AND CONTRACTING (AL MAFTOL)
a. AL MAFTOL will provide required manpower, supply of potable water, recirculation
pump/tank and disposal of discharge water during the entire cleaning and passivation
process.
