Teaching Philosophy
I believe that Education should strike a balance between individual growth and collaborative learning. Students
bring a myriad of experiences and perspectives into the classroom, and these should be valued and used to the
fullest extent through the implementation of student-centered, inquiry-based activities at the forefront of the
learning process. This fosters a community of learning wherein teacher and student are learning from and with
each other. Relevant teaching pedagogy takes into account a students personal experiences but also stresses
the importance of critical-thinking, decision-making, maximises creativity, and promotes engagement with global
and environmental issues. Above all, students should be engaged with a variety of activities that meet their needs
as students and as individuals.
Resilient and Adaptable: Skilled at altering lesson plans/lessons and assessment practices to meet the
current needs of students in my classroom. Keeps journals to constantly reflect on teaching practices.
Passionate: Enthusiastic to share passion for literature/writing with students. My passion is what keeps
me motivated to teach and learn about literature with my students.
Reflective/Self-Aware: Studiously reflecting on my teaching practice during lessons and after lessons to
see where improvements or changes can be made.
Focused and Driven: Always driven towards the task at hand, especially when I am provided with a
challenge.
