Student Name: Sargun Bhatia
Activity Name: Summer Hockey Competition
CAS element(s) involved:
C

Group

Description of Proposed Activity:

Hockey Summer Competition that lasts the duration of term 4.
Proposed Activity Supervisor:
George Lombard- team manager
What challenges and/or new skills will this activity provide?
This summer competition involves playing hockey in a half-court format, thus restricting me to play
within half the court. I will have to learn the skills to play using the sideboard to control the ball.
Furthermore, summer competition bans the use of hitting or slapping or tomahawking the ball, so I will
have to improve my pushing and stroking skills, as my skill set will be very limited throughout the
competition. Overall, the summer hockey competition will restrict my movement, thus I will have to
improve my ball-handling skills to cope with the field-size restriction. I will also have to greatly focus on
my pushing and stroking skills
What do you want to achieve from your participation in this activity?
I aim to greatly grow my pushing and stroking skills by scoring at least five goals throughout the season
by using pushing rather than hitting. As well as this, I would like to learn how to use the sideboard
appropriately and channelling the ball using this.
What evidence could be appropriate for this activity?

off)

LO2
in

Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

the process
A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of an existing
one. The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences
that the
student has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in
an established
area.
LO3

Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Students can articulate the stages from conceiving an idea to executing a plan for a
CAS experience or series of CAS experiences. This may be accomplished in
collaboration with other participants. Students may show their knowledge and
awareness by building on a previous experience, or by launching a new idea or
process.

LO4

Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Students demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement in CAS.

LO5 Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working

collaboratively
Students are able to identify, demonstrate and critically discuss the benefits and
challenges of collaboration gained through CAS experiences.

make responsible decisions, and take appropriate action in response to the issue,
locally, nationally or internationally.
