college,isevenmorerare.However,thisistheuniquepossibilitythatCAPSoffers.Asan
18yearold,tobeabletohaveaninternshipandgainexperienceinaprofessionIplanon
pursuingisnotsomethingIcanturndown.

Describeyourproposedinternship.Wherewillyoubeinterning?Ifyoudon'thavean
internshiplinedup,whattypeofinternshipareyoulookingintoandmostimportantly,
whathavedonetoinitiatetheprocessofsecuringaninternship?(Beasspecificaspossible.)

IwillbeinterningattheNewtonTab.IhadalsoreachedouttotheBostonGlobe,theBoston
SportsMuseum,WBUR,WCVB,andWBZ,andwasturneddownbyallfive.

Describehowyouwillefficientlyuseyourtime,knowingthatthere'stheofficialinternship
hourstosatisfy,awebportfoliotoworkon/build,andapresentationtopreparefor.(CAPS
internshipstudentsarerequiredtoparticipateinaminimumof25hours/week.)

Asofrightnow,Idonotknowthespecificsofmyexperience.IimagineIwillspenda
considerableamountoftimeintheofficeinwhichIaminterning,andpotentiallyhavethe
opportunitytodosomefieldwork.Intermsofawebportfolio,IcouldincludeanypiecesIwork
ontomaintainanupdatedcollection.

Whatmakesyouexcitedaboutthisinternship?

Ilovetowrite.Eversincefirstgrade,writinghasbeenmybestandfavoriteacademicability,and
thispassionhasonlygrownstrongerasIhavegrownup.Ihavebeenonmyschoolnewspapers
sincefourthgrade,andsomewherebetweenthenandnow,developedaloveforjournalism.I
lovewritingaboutthingsIlikeandaboutwhichIampassionate(sports,forexample),andenjoy
expressingmyselfandmybeliefsthroughwriting.Becauseofallofthis,IhavedecidedthatI
wanttostudyjournalismincollegeandpotentiallypursuethefieldasmyprofessionlaterinlife.

Theopportunitytogetreallifejournalisticexperiencenowwouldbeincredible,andsomethingI
believewouldbenefitmegreatly.

MymainconcernisthatbecauseIamateenageintern,thatIwillnotbeabletodomuchreal
work,writerealarticles,ordothekindofjournalisticthingsIwouldhopetodo.Ialsoam
slightlyconcernedabouttransportation,butIthinkthatissomethingthatcanbeeasilyworked
out.

Ihavenoschoolrelatedcommitmentssecondsemester,butIdohavesomeoutside
commitments.IhaveajobatLAromaCafeandBakeryinWestNewton,andIcurrentlywork
3:305:30onMondaysandThursdays.IteachandattendHebrewSchoolatmytemplefrom
4:308onTuesdays.Ialsoamveryactiveinmyyouthgroup,whichhaseventsmostlyon
weekends.Becausemycommitmentsarebuiltaroundmyschoolschedule(workisalwaysafter
schoolends),Idontthinkanyofthemshouldbetoobigofanissue.
