Teacher displays solid content knowledge and made

no content errors. I noticed various teaching strategies
employed throughout lesson.

Students appear to be grouped by ability influenced

by appropriate data. I noticed that teacher related well
to students, utilizing humor frequently appears
aware of group and individual needs.
LT is focal point and instruction geared toward
accomplishing LT. I noticed teacher wrote and
identified LT at beginning of lesson.

Comments

Lesson is planned and organized around stated LT;

activities appear appropriate for this group. Began
with factor warm-up; solid transition activity. Most
time spent working independently with teacher
feedback.
I wonder what the student work is telling you about
this group and this math skill. I wonder how you
know, and the students know the LT has been achieved
is the exit ticket used daily?

Students follow teachers directions/lead and appear

eager to participate (Teacher offered prompts and
helpful redirections often it sounds a bit.).
I notice the teacher exhibited a firm tone while
keeping the room engaging enough.
Teacher encouraged all students to participate and
randomly called upon students, though tended to call
upon students with hands raised. Feels like a positive
learning environment.

Transitions between classes and during the lesson

were handled well limited time lost, and students
appear to know whats expected of them. Whole-class
number system (5-1) works well and is a concept
clearly understood by students.
Class remained on-task throughout most of period
typical redirections for noise. Clap and recall strategy
worked well throughout. Teacher gave countdown
and clearly stated what she wanted to see. Might want
to add I should see and I should hear..
Students appeared to be appropriately challenged.
Classroom is fairly accommodating and comfortable
space is utilized well.

Providing Feedback to Students

Students follow teachers directions and most appear

to understand expectations. Teacher has a firm tone
but shows respect to her students and they respond
accordingly. Teacher anticipated potential mistakes
and guided discussion appropriately.
Teacher asked questions related to LT and activity
Id explain why LT is important and how it fits into
long-term goals, or relates to other topics, periodically
throughout lesson (why do we need to know this?).

Engaging Students in Learning

Comments

Most students cognitively engaged and materials are

developmentally appropriate. I notice very high
engagement and eager students.

Teacher monitored students and spent time with

individual groups to gauge understanding and focus on
select skills. I noticed teacher shared her noticings
with the class during angle work.

No real need for teacher to significantly adjust this

lesson teacher intervened as needed during activity.
