was founded in October 4, 1968 under the

leadership of Pastor T. H. Foster. The congregation has enjoyed the leadership of a number of
dynamic pastors. Growth was consistent over the years, with a few times of ebbs and
flows. The membership, totaling about 100 at present, is in the process of renewing itself.
This small, yet powerful, congregation has proven to be most resilient over the years. Born from
a need to be free in spirit and worship, a group of fifty-two believers set out to create a ministry
capable of feeding the souls on men and women and offering all an opportunity to praise the
True and Living God.
Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is located in what is called the "College Hill"
community. Nestled in the shadow of the former "Mary Allen College" in Crockett, Texas, the
church serves a proud community that has seen many changes over the years.
The congregation stands firm of the tenets espoused by the Holy Bible. We believe in the Holy
Trinity and water baptism by full and total immersion. We believe that Jesus is our Savior and is
the second person of the Holy Trinity.

The Congregation October 2015

We believe that the Scriptures, embracing both the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired
Word of God, and are the sole authority for our faith and practice.
We believe that salvation is the free gift of God that comes through
faith in Jesus Christ and cannot be earned.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and both Savior and Lord of all who
believe and trust in Him.

We are a united body of believers; empowered by the Holy Spirit and committed to the
edification of God's Kingdom and Christ's Body through ministry and genuine Christian
fellowship.

Strengthen our current ministries and expand them into new locations and services;
Apply Christ-like approaches to caring for the lost and under-served;
Make a significant financial, physical, and spiritual investment to the Crockett community that
God has entrusted to us.

What Do We Believe?
*

believe there is one God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; same in
substance and form, existing in three distinct persons as the one true God.

*
believe Jesus Christ is God's Son. He was born of a virgin as both God and
man, He lived a sinless life, died to atone for the sins of human beings, was buried,
arose alive from the grave, ascended into heaven and will literally return to earth.
*
believe the Holy Spirit is the Divine Helper, Assistant, Counselor, and
Instructor and His work is to reveal Christ, convict sin, lead to repentance, guide
believers, comfort, strengthen and sanctify the soul.
*

hold the Bible in high esteem. We believe the Bible is God's Word, without
error, without fallibility, and inspired in its original autographs.

*
believe human beings are the special creations of God, made in His
image. As such, every human being has dignity and worth and should be treated as
such. Humans fell through the sin of the first man, Adam, and all human beings are
sinners in need of salvation.
*
believe salvation is a gift through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus
Christ. Every person who truly is saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ
and will spend eternity in heaven, while those who die in their sin will spend
eternity in hell.
*

believe baptism is by immersion after salvation and is done in obedience

Jesus Christ's command.
*

believe each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus
Christ. He is the "one Mediator between God and man."

*
believe the church is the local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus
Christ as the head. The church universal is made up of all believers in Jesus Christ
from "every nation, tribe and tongue" both in heaven and on earth.
