BARANGAY DEVELOPMENT PLAN

CY 2014-2016
As a basic political unit, the barangay serves as a primary government
agency in the planning and implementation of programs and projects. It is a potent
mass-based organization primarily tasked to ensure people's access to efficient
public and social services and to effect enforcement of social policies and concerns.
More importantly, it provides effective venue for the meaningful participation of the
people in decision-making process. the passage of RA 7160, otherwise known as
The New Local Government Code (LGC) of 1991, paved the way for a more
meaningful participation of the people policy-making and implementation of various
development programs that affect their well-being. It emancipated the barangay
from a centralist system that enables higher levels of government to exercise
tremendous powers.
Consistent with devolution, the barangay is responsible for quite a number of
basic services. These Include: (I) Agricultural support services which include
planting materials distribution system and operation of farm produce collection and
buying station; (II) Health and social welfare services which include maintenance of
barangay health center and day-care center; (III) Services and facilities related to
general hygiene and sanitation, beatification, and solid waste collection; (IV)
Maintenance of katarunganng pambarangay; (V) Maintenance of barangay roads
and bridges and water supply systems; (VI) Infrastructure facilities as multi-purpose
hall, multipurpose pavement, plaza, sports center, and other similar facilities; (VII)
Information and reading center; and; (VIII) Satellite or public market, where viable.
HISTORY
During the Spanish time missionaries used to pass through the trail of a vast
of rice fields during their pilgrimage to the Chapel at Buso-buso in the Municipality
of Antipolo (now City of Antipolo). They were surprised to notice the abundance of
small birds (Maya) in the area. They began asking the farmers as to what kind of
birds were flying around the area. Until such time that whenever they passed the
area they called those birds as Maya Mucho (literally much Maya birds) and
from then on the place was named by the farmers as MAYAMOT, which it was
recognized up to the present.
The leader was then called "Tiniente Del Barrio" but the late president
Ferdinand E. Marcos established, during Martial Law, the Barangay, the Barangay
Captain becomes the leader. The set of Barangay Captains from the year 1960 up to
present are as follows:

GENERAL PUBLIC SERVICES
60.
61.
To ensure public health, environment protection and safety and to
adhere excellent practice of good governance, towards a better future where the
welfare of the people is supreme.
62.
63.
In the midst of political instability the country has faced today, the
people divided in their opinion, almost losing their trust and confidence to the
government that had promised an improved quality of life, yet the irony of
development is clear. Manifested in the fluctuating value of the peso and the
budgetary deficiency of the local government, vis-a-vis the multifarious activities it
has to perform. This sad reality is something that cannot just be taken for granted,
instead, should set an alarm for all of us, to be firm and remain in our conviction of
serving our constituent.
64.
65.
PEACE & ORDER
66.
67.
It takes a lot of effort and courage to maintain a peaceful and orderly
community, and it's never a sole responsibility of the barangay. The people must
contribute in any possible way he can, everyone must do his share.
68.
69.

SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

74.
75.

Sports activities for the youth is important after all

a healthy body create a healthy mind. A healthy mind is a
source of wisdom that can share and promote an active/
positive life.

76.
77.
HEALTH & SANITATION
78.
79.
The people must realized that a healthy environment is essential to a
health living, Adults has a burden of setting an example to the youth to run a right
path, proper disposal of waste must insist, environment friendly program must be
initiated.
80.
81.
82.
GENDER & DEVELOPMENT
83.
84.
Women had long proven their worth as a leaders of our country, they
are not only exhibiting great dedication in the performance of their duty, but
continue, to their search for knowledge, actively participating in livelihood
programs.
85.
86.
Limiting our action within the ambit of our authority and confine our
interest to that of the general welfare, for every exorbitant exercise of power may
invite disrespect to the constituted authorities and existing laws.
87.
88.
The ultimate challenge of survival is here, for as long as the leaders of
this Barangay are still united in their trust of Building a government, untainted with
corruption, where the primacy of the general welfare of the people remain the main
purpose of existence, where leaders are not dominated and pre-occupied with their
own vested interest, only then we can truly say that we have attained government
by the people, of the people, and for the people.
