Lecture / Speech
This is either a speech or letter written by Bishop Eugene III. This is important because this is
when the Third Crusades actually were started. I will use this in my project to show how the
Third Crusades were started and some of the causes of the Third Crusades.

This is a letter from a French Crusader to his wife before he goes off to fight. In the letter, he
writes about how fighting will win her over and he will win paradise and her true love. I will use
this in my project to compare different perspectives of Crusaders.

This is a speech by Pope Urban saying what is happening with Christians and Muslims. He is
saying that he will start the first of the Crusades and he states some of his reasons. I will use this
in my project to find some of the causes of the Crusades.

This is a letter from a soldier in the war to B. of Chartres. I will use this in my project to show
different perspectives of soldiers in the Crusades.
Leo, IV. "Forgiveness of Sins for Those Who Died in Battle." Speech.
This is a speech by Pope Leo IV during the Crusades. In this speech, he said that any Crusader
who died in battle would automatically be forgiven of all their sins and go straight to Heaven. I
will use this in my project to show how important and iconic the Crusades were.

This is a written sentiment by an English priest about a battle in the Crusades. He wrote down
how the opposition were terrifying soldiers. I will use this in my project to show people just how
nasty and painful this war was.

use this in my project to show even more of the Crusaders perspective.

This is an article that I used to gain some facts and ideas about the Crusades. There were three
