What is Cyberbullying
Justin

Cyberbullying is when a child is threatened, humiliated, or embarrassed by another


It involves the use of the Internet or their cellphones to make a person feel bad about themselves
Technology used inappropriately, such as sending text messages or images that hurt others

Tried drinking bleach but was saved

Law was created in part due to Rehtaeh Parsons case
Law was repealed
Lawmakers plan to replace it with a more focused law
Others waiting to see effects of Nova Scotia's law

Lead to up to 5 years of jail time
Intimidation, uttering threats, and harassment are all crimes

Effects of Cyberbullying can cause physical and emotional stress.


Youth bullied have a high risk of anxiety and depression.
Youth who get bullied will struggle in school
If not stopped or treated for the child it can lead to problems like suicidal thoughts

Roles
Justin

Students who have been socializing online, and have been involved in a
cyberbullying incident, have a certain role in the incident
There are three roles
Bully

Put-downers or Get Backers

Target person who gets bullied


Bystander

What Can We Do to Stop Cyberbullying?

Everyone must make conscious effort to stop


Dont post anything online about others
Dont say anything online you wouldnt say in person
Report inappropriate videos or comments
If you dont know, ask someone else

If You Are Getting Cyberbullied You
