Can We Trust the Bible?

In our society today, there is no proven evidence that an abortion can effect a
woman's mental health. Through the APA we know that an abortion is a medical or
surgical termination of a pregnancy, but is it murder? The Bible says it is a sin to murder,
and that the baby in a mothers womb is alive. We can trust the Bible because of its
consistency and fulfilled prophesy without error; this applies to our lives today in the
matter of abortion.
The Bible can be trusted because it is consistent from cover to cover. While there
are many books that can be internally consistent, the Bible speaks on huge topics such
as eternity, God, and our purpose. Because the Bible is filled with teachings from 40
authors, included with 66 documents, and written over 1500, the book's cohesiveness is
quite impressive. Many of the authors didn't know each other, live in the same time
period or geographic area, or have the same educational background, yet the Bible
flows perfectly. Another factor which makes the Bible trustworthy is its consistency
through three different languages. The Bible was written in Greek, Aramaic, and
Hebrew, while also being translated into many other languages. Every translation or
version of the Bible carries the same message and doesn't contract itself at all. Though
many factors could potentially create an inconsistency, the Bible is consistent and can
be trusted to be true.
The Bible can also be trusted because of all the prophecies accurately fulfilled.
In the Old Testament (the first 39 documents) contain predictions about the future from
men called "prophets". They told the future events which would take place, given to
them from God Himself. Many of these prophesies spoke of the man Jesus coming to
earth to bring salvation to Christians. Prophets spoke of his coming, who he would
come through, how he would die, and how he would be treated too. They said Jesus
would be born of Abraham in the lineage of David, be born in Bethlehem, born of a
virgin, heal many, and rejecting by his people. All of these things came true at the
proper time and all of the prophesies spoken about over 1,000 years before Jesus was
born. Proving these prophecies were fulfilled can be backed up through archaeological
evidence, outside sources, secular historians, and the actual Word of God.
As we look closer into the matter of abortion, we now know we can trust the Bible
to be true in all it claims. According to the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry,
abortion is wrong for a few reasons. First we see in Exodus 20:13 that "You shall not
murder", and the baby inside of a womb is alive. In John 3:16 we see how true love is
displayed as others-centered. In the Bible we see love as being selfless, and I believe
the right of the mother shouldn't come before her baby if she loves him/her. To abort a
life is to kill the nature of man inside of a womb, which is wrong according to the Bible.
In the end we can clearly see that although women have rights, babies have
rights too. There is a baby in the womb as a woman is pregnant, and aborting
(terminating the pregnancy) the baby is murder. The Bible says that murder and neglect
is wrong, and we can trust the Bible to be true because of its consistency, fulfilled
prophesy without error, and the display of the authors failings.
