32 Chapter GPs live & learn together The Campaign for Phi Kappa Psi bears fruit with intense leadership training for undergraduates he ground has beenbroken and Phi Kappa Psi has anew leadership program! On the week- end of Jannary 5-7, 1996, 32 chapter presi- deots paricipeted in the eatery’ firs Presidents Leadership Academy atthe Hickory Ridge Confer- ence Cente in List, i ‘The program was designed as an intensive lead- ership developmentexperience which incorporated smal group work, large experiential learning exer- cists, workshops om creative thinking, confronea tion skill and values devdopment,aswellstime to discuss chapter problems and common interests. Everyone worked extremly hard in the shor time they were there beginning early inthe moraing and going until late at night. Bur the result was a hewer informed and more confident group of chapter leaders. So far, the response from the participants has been outstanding. In an evaluation completed by everyone atthe end ofthe weekend, the comments showed that Phi Kappa Pi isdoing wellro invest in ‘our undergraduate leaders Almost all sui that the event helped them to better understand the role of values in their daily decision making. ‘+ Everyone fel that they understood the impor tance of, and bes: approach for, confronting ‘her's attitudes and behaviocs ‘+ Neary all shared that they better understood ‘hei leadership ste and how to increase their effectiveness in leading their chapter and were more confident oftheir ability 10 lead [No one left without a new idea, a better devel- oped talent or skill, ora new friend they can call if they get scumped by a chapter problem or just need to vent to a peer leader. Almost everyone made a commitment to keep in touch and to try t0 get together at the GAC ot regional leadership retreats, iftney arend.
