Culture Documents
Students will spend the day writing their papers and preparing for the
peer review.
Objectives
After the lesson the students will have written a rough draft of their
paper.

Apply the writing process to
Plan and develop; draft; revise using appropriate reference
materials; rewrite; try a new approach; and edit to produce and
strengthen writing that is clear and coherent, with some guidance
and support from peers and adults.
7.W.3.1:
Write arguments in a variety of forms that Introduce claim(s), acknowledge alternative or opposing claims
and use appropriate organizational structures.
Support claim(s) with logical reason and relevant evidence,
using accurate, credible sources and understanding of the topic
or text.
Establish and maintain a consistent style and tone appropriate to
purpose and audience.
Use effective transitions to create cohesion and clarify the
relationships among claim(s), reason, and evidence.
Provide a concluding statement or section that follows form and
supports the argument presented.
7.RL.2.1:
Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what a text
says as well as inferences drawn from the text.
Procedures
1)
Students will work on their papers for the day.
2)
Teacher will play some type of instrumental music
quietly in the background. Whole class
Extensions
ELL and students with IEPs may come for help if they need or want it.
Other than that, this is a lesson that would have to be reworked on a
case-by-case basis because it is so individually writing intensive.
