Overview

Students will listen to the teacher read the first chapter of 3 books.

Objectives

After the lesson students will have acquired a list of books that may be
of interest for leisure reading.

Materials

3 books selected on Thursday

Standards

7.RV.3.3:
Interpret figures of speech (e.g., literary, religious, and mythological
allusions) in context.
7.SL.2.4:
Pose questions that elicit elaboration and respond to others' questions
and comments with relevant observations and ideas that bring the
discussion back on topic as needed.

Procedures

Extensions

1)
Teacher will read the 1st chapter of each book with a
slight after saying who recommended the book and whether it is in
the school library.
2)
If a student asks a question, give other students a chance
to answer it before offering up your own answer.
3)
The same thing goes for any literary techniques (allusion,
simile, metaphor, etc.) that may not be easy for students to
understand. Whole class
Students feel free to raise hands and ask about words they do not know.
