Format for Culture Test Item and Grading Criteria

Level and Age:


Intermediate adult leaners of Spanish.
Goals:

Testing the understanding of the students about the way


Nicaraguans particularly, and other Hispanic countries in
general celebrate New Years Eve.
Testing the ability to make cultural comparisons between
the target culture and the native culture.

Grading Criteria:

Activity 1 is worth 20 points. 10 for using the words or


phrases in the word bank, and 10 for the accuracy of the
whole event.
Activity 2 is worth 4 points. One point each accurate
difference.


Culture Test Items

1). John is from America and he is very excited because this year he is going to spend
New Years Eve in Nicaragua. He has no clue about the Nicaraguan traditions for New
Years Eve. Help him understand better what will be happening that day by explaining in
a paragraph what Nicaraguans do for New Years Eve. Make sure you include the
phrases in the box. (20 points, 1 point per phrase or word used, and 10 for the accuracy
of the whole event.
