Closing down Guantanamo Bay Prison
Its true of what people say about having morals, it is the ideal fact of knowing the
difference between what is right and what is wrong. However, is it wrong to save innocent lives
by receiving information from terrorist by using the method of torture? The Guantanamo Bay
detention camp is a United States military prison located within Guantanamo Bay Naval Base,
also referred to as Guantnamo, G-bay or GTMO, which fronts on Guantnamo Bay in Cuba
(New York Times). Guantanamo bay abuses civil rights; of excessive imprisonment, inhumane
torture and death; The reasons of closing down Guantanamo will be a very long process but is
able to work.
Prisoners who are held captive in Guantanamo Bay have been there for more than a
decade without a court hearing. According to amenity Approximately 779 detainees have been
held in Guantanamo without criminal trial (Amenity.org). All human Being should be able to
go through a court hearing, no matter of what the cost the people have done, because justice has
nothing to do with Torture or killing, its to have equal rights and the right to have a court
hearing of their inhumane acts that they have caused. According to journalist Suriki, Kartiki
Guantanamo Bay Prison has held many prisoners for a decade (Suriki Kartiki). Without a court
hearing these terrorist is unaware of how long they are going to spend their lives in Guantanamo,
but just have false hopes of having little chance of being released into the world. However, there

is one thing that that these terrorist have to go through and that is both physical and mental
torture of trying to extract information out of the terrorist.
In Guantanamo Bay prison torture is very common. However, the methods that they use
on these terrorist are outrageous and inhumane by the human eye, of imagining the pain that each
terrorist have to go through. According to Khan one of the survivor to survive Guantanamo says
he was Stripped naked and hung baby a wooden beam for three days, during which he was
provided with water but no food ice water repeatedly poured in his mouth, genitals and nose
(Khan). These methods used on terrorist are unimaginable and inhumane, is this how one can
receive information in order to save lives. According to Brian Koggelmann Its immoral because
it stands in defiance of both national and international law. Internationally, detention practices at
Guantanamo remain in violation in of several statues of the international covenant on civil and
political rights (Brian Koggelmann). Meaning that no matter what the rule may be it is still
illegal to inhumanely torture terrorist or send terrorist to prison without a court hearing. Terrorist
needs to be treated as civilians of what they believe in as for what the whole situation is about of
fighting for their own countries. Death is unsettling even that you know that you will die in
Guantanamo due to the fact that terrorist is held captive for their rest of their lives.
Death rates in Guantanamo since 2002 has occurred, after 9/11, Since 2002 8 detainees
has died, 6 committed suicide and two died of natural causes (Dmitry). Revenge after 9/11
has occurred that caused everyone in the U.S to hate Muslims due to their plot of destruction.
That is very unneccary and had to be taking with all cautions. However, it is 2015 and there
is still death lingering in the shadows in Guantanamo just waiting until it catches its prey on
the right time. George W. Bush ordered secretary of state to find a location for the detention
center for non us nationals suspected of terrorism held without charges (Secretary). This

shows here that we wanted vengeance from the extremist to know that they cannot mess
around with USA, because of so many people you had killed during that tragic day, the day
when the civilians of the United States know the damage that you have caused us during that
day. So many deaths and now Guantanamo tortures your followers and soon lead to death
because of vengeance but it is not ok to take another persons life thought a court hearing of
justice. Death is inevitable to escape but is it for the right cause, do we torture these terrorist
for our amusement or for valuable information.

The detention center is a good resource to receive valuable information especially the fact
they torture the terrorist nonstop both physically and mentally. Prisoners right does not exist in
Guantanamo bay prison because it doesnt cover towards terrorist (ABC News). This shows the
con of torturing of how useful it could become of receiving valuable information, to know the
next target of one might do to the outcome of one severity of Guantanamo. It protects and serves
our country of torturing each of these terrorist of knowing that civilians cannot have any
sympathy for them because of the damage that they can cause to our home. A tyrannical move
Out of 166 prisoners in Guantanamo, over 21 from those 166 are kids (Ross). This shows that
anybody can become a villain of no matter age, because looks can be deceiving not knowing
who is able to shoot at our allies or knowing the real innocence. Guantanamo is here to help our
state not destroy it because without it what are we abled t become in the future.
In conclusion Guantanamo Bay prison should be closed because of the inhumanity and
life changing and mental changes it causes to both terrorist and guard. The power to
manipulate one into killing or bringing upon the feeling of guilt towards one person. For
comparison, inmates at high-security federal prisons cost about $34,000 per year on average

(Obama). We are spending so much money each year on these inmates that we are not
responsible for that is the job for the military, the military duty to protect our country but by
another idea or option instead if the detention center. Guantanamo prison is also known as
the prison from hell (Kharin). Says that Guantanamo is the prison from hell well it is
because of the inhumanity in this place, its as if there isnt any soul in this place called hell.
