A path to Citizenship

The subject of illegal immigration seems to be a very hot-button topic for many
Americans. Every American has a different opinion when it comes to granting illegal immigrants
the path to citizenship. Some people believe that illegal immigrants should not be granted a path
to citizenship because he or she entered into the country illegal. While on the other hand, other
people believe in the idea that everyone that lives in the United States should have the right to
citizenship.
There is no constitutional justification for creating a new denizen class of Americans individuals who have the right to work and pay taxes, but do not have a path to citizenship
(Bedolla). Stopping illegal immigrants from receiving a path to citizenship is a promotion of an
injustice which is not part of the American constitution because America is a land of freedom not
a land of injustices. Immigrants are individual people that dreams like any other American do so
they should be treated like every other Americans. Many immigrants come to United States to
work hard so they can be able to provide for their family. They contribute a lot to our society,
they work in horrible conditions for very cheap pay, and still pay taxes (Preface). They do the
jobs that American do not want to do, like construction, landscaping, and restaurants for a very
little payment (Preface). With this, it shows how Americans do not want illegal immigrants to
have a path to citizenship but want them to work for them and pay them a very little amount,
which is promoting the idea of unjust treatment. Immigrants also contribute to the Americans
economy by increasing the efficiency. They contribute to the economy productivity by
performing domestic jobs that free up American workers to occupy high-skilled positions
(Preface).

While many people may believe that illegal immigrants should have a path to citizenship,
unfortunately it not the same for many people. Many people also argue that illegal immigrants
should not have a path to citizenship because they believe that illegal immigrants are taking their
jobs and big companies hire them as slaves to work cheap while hard working Americans that
have built this country sit unemployed at home (Rector). What this arguments fails to take in, is
that immigrants are not the ones taking their jobs but rather it Americans that are using the
immigrants as slaves to work for them. At the end they know that they dont have to pay them a
higher wage. Its not the immigrants fault that many Americans are unemployed, its because
companies wants to make more money than they spend paying employees. And the only way
companies can do that is by hiring immigrants because Americans do not want to work for a low
payment which the immigrants are willing to do. Another argument that they bring up is that
illegal immigrants will turn America into poverty (Valbrun). What they fail to consider is that
immigrants are the one making the American economy make more money because of the low
payment that they receive upon the hard jobs that they do that requires a high pay for an
Americans.
In conclusion, most people do not support the idea of granting illegal immigrants a path
to citizenship simply because they broke the law by entering the country illegal and because they
are taking the Americans jobs away. On the other hand, others support the idea that they have the
right to a path to citizenship because immigrants are just as important as any other person and if
they are allowed to work jobs for low payment and still pay taxes that most Americans do not
want to do they should have the right to be granted citizenship.
