Document Analysis #4
The first article The National Security Strategy was written and issued in 2002 by the
Bush administration, that outlines a foreign and military policy stating the United states has
retained the right to use military power against countries that might pose a threat in the future. As
a response to the terrorist attack that happened on September 11, 2001. In the article the
administration began by stating the definition of freedom and their commitment to spread of
freedom around the world.

The article begins by stating that freedom, democracy, and free enterprise are values of
freedom that right and true for every person in every society. But then further states that the
international community has a chance to build a world that competes for peace instead of
constantly preparing for war. And the United States will use the opportunity to bring freedom,
democracy, development, and free market/trade to every corner of the world.

After building a balance of power that favors freedom the United states is guided by the
conviction, that if any nation enjoys freedom or depends on international stability that they
should actively fight terror and prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction. Than
continues by stating that freedom has been threatened by war, terror, powerful states, and tyrants.
And what came of all of this was widespread poverty and diseases, but now a day we hold the
future of our freedom in our hands.

The second article is from President Barack Obamas speech on the Middle East in 2011.
In his speech he mentions that over the past six months that he has seen more and more uprisings
for their basic human rights in the Middle East, And in North Africa. He then continues to say
that even though many countries have their Independence many of them have power
concentrated in only a few people. But with the advancement of technology a new generation has
emerged with their voices being able to spread over social networks, that change cant be denied.

He further continues to state that the United States support a set of universal rights that
include, freedom of speech, freedom to peaceful assembly, freedom of religion, equality for men
and women under the law, and the right to choose your own leader. And that these right also
apply to women, but also history shows that women are empowered a country is more peaceful
and prosperous.

If it wasnt for people uprising and choosing the morally right choice to give people, the
basic human right that he and other enslaved people wouldnt be here today. But most
importantly it would make real those words that declared or nation. We hold these truths to be
self-evident, that all men are created equal.

The thing that both presidents had in common was that they both wanted to give
everyone in the world their god given right to be free. And that they are willing to send help to
different countries to make this happen. Even if in some countries these freedoms dont even
exist for some people. Like in Sudan were women are still being subjected even till this day and
that women dont have the same rights that men do there. Or in other countries were we cant

even enter like North Korea, but also places where we are at war for instincts Iraq and
Afghanistan.

But the thing I find more interesting is that we are trying help other people achieve the
same freedom we have in the United States, even though we cant even provide freedom for
people who live here. For example, with freedom of speech we are supposable able to say
anything we want but how can we if things like censorship were if the government doesnt like
what we are saying they censor it or take it down. Another one is freedom of peaceful assembly,
how are we able to peacefully assemble if almost every time people try they get disbanded by
police without reason.

I think we have to first give the people of the United States their complete freedom before
we are able to help others get theirs.
