Analysis of Perspectives
The Biological Model
This model is how the thoughts, emotions, and behavior end up in abnormality and the
psychologist will assume what can help to treat the abnormality in the mind. It is the result of
biochemical and bioelectrical process through the brain and body that causes the abnormality of
the behavior. This model has strengths such as, it does produces valuable new information, and
the treatments bring relief. The weakness of this model is that it can limit our understanding, and
the treatments could make undesirable negative effects. The theorist for this model believes that
the treatment to cure this abnormality behavior are electroconvulsive therapy, drug therapy, and
psychosurgery.
The Psychodynamic Model
This model is when psychologist believes any of the forces of unconscious awareness
determines normal or abnormal behavior. It includes the idea of Freuds, which are the id, the
ego, and the superego that controls the behavior from past experiences. The strengths of this
model are that the normal functioning has the same processes as the abnormal functioning; it is
the first theory that provides techniques for treatment. The weakness of this model is that it is
difficult to research because it is non-observable and not accessible to human subject. The
treatment for this model that the theorist think will cure the abnormality behavior are to seek past
traumas and the inner conflicts inside humans to cure. Also, other therapies are to act like a
subtle guide during the therapy.
The Behavioral Model

This model is decided by psychodynamic theorists who believe that humans actions
result by our experiences in life decide this model. So, this model specifically focuses on the
behaviors that responses to the environment. The strengths of this model are that it is a powerful
force in the field, in the laboratory, it can be tested, and it is an important research, which
supports for the behavioral therapies. The weakness of this model is that there arent evidences
that symptoms are commonly acquired through conditioning, and the behavior therapy is limited.
The cognitive Model
This model is a perspective to the idea of our cognitive is where we get our thoughts that
impact on our actions of thinking, remembering, and anticipating. The cognitive thoughts
influence our behaviors, thoughts, and emotions that make psychologists try to understand how
abnormal behavior starts. The strengths for this model are that it is clinically useful and effective
model, and the therapies are successful in treating patients who have several disorders. The
weakness of this model is that therapies dont accurate helps everyone, and its not possible to
make some changes that will achieve. The treatment for this model is by developing new way of
thinking which is more functional, and Beck's cognitive therapy.
The Humanistic-Existential Model
This model was analyzed by the humanistic and existential theorists who understood the
process of the focus on human existence, which humans are able to have goals to chase over, and
is all about the self-awareness. The strengths for this model are that it emphasizes the individual
as important, and makes health

important issue. The weakness of this model is that it focuses on issues that are abstract, and
scientific approach is hard to be approved. The therapy for this model is to encourage patients to
accept personal responsibility for their problems and recognize their lifes responsibilities to see
if it's meaningful to the patients.
The Sociocultural Model: Family-Social and Multicultural
Perspectives
This model is about the abnormal behavior that influences a human, such as, how they
social in the environment, their roles, and perspectives from people on their social behavior. The
Strengths of this model is that it becomes successful once other treatments have failed. Also, this
model showed more understanding and treatment of abnormality of the topic clinical. The
weakness of this model is that its hard to interpret the research, and the model is hard to predict
in specific individuals. The therapy for this model is the family-social treatments, which involves
group therapy, family therapy, couple therapy, and community treatment.
My thought on these six models is that I think those models are a good way to label
different kinds of approaches of abnormality of mind and behaviors. I believe that the behavioral
and psychodynamic would make a good combination because both models analyze the
behaviors. This approach should be used because I think it is important to analyze humans
behavior leading to their psychodynamics that leads to the abnormality of minds. In the future, I
believe that the cognitive model will have a lot of more technology access. That means that there
will be more treatments and analysis on the cognitive system related to abnormality research.
Also, all of the models have some interaction that connects to one other. I believe

that all of the models can integrate on the other or below other models because of how it
influences other models based on research. For example, behavioral model and cognitive
model could be integrated with the sociocultural model because of how people social can
influence on others thoughts and behavior. How the human socializes others can have an impact
on their thoughts or emotions that lead to their behavior. The approach of a combination I
mentioned will treat the psychopathology by creating more research out there with more of
technology access. The ability to analyze patients and know how to treat if the patient has more
than one approach of the abnormality behavior. The research can help psychologists to study
more about the mental disorders so they can understand better. The approach of the combination
of behavioral, cognitive, and sociocultural can help the psychologist or theorist to create a better
treatment or ideas of a different approach of therapy. I think that the human-existence model
needs more improvement on the research on the treatment. Why is that? Well, I think that the
idea of the human-existence model is interesting, and I hope that there will be more research
about treatments or therapy for this model. For example, in the book, Fundamentals of
Abnormal Psychology, states, Although some studies show that participants who receive this
therapy improve more than control participants, many other studies have failed to find any such
advantage, which shows that this therapy of client-centered therapy does not have a lot of
research. In the future, there should be more researches since I think that there are a lot of people
who lose themselves in time to time, such as, celebrities, people who went through a traumatic
experience, or things like that. Those are my thoughts about the approaches and models for the
future.

Through the six models, with the researches in the models, there are theories on therapies
and treatments to cure the abnormality behavior and psychopathology. The theorists and
psychologists have learned how to work with patients who have a mental disorder and learn what
type of model based on the research and type of problem they appear to have. There are different
theories on the models and what type of treatments will cure patients.
