We did not start collecting data. We plan on going to

Coach Reeds African American History Class and perform
a focus group, ask the students a variety of questions.
We plan to carry this out when we come back from
Christmas break. We will start the class off with a bell
ringer of a simple, but mind boggling question. With the
answers we receive from the bell ringer, we will go on to
separate the class into two groups with an equal boy to
girl ratio. This way, we can get answers from more
students rather than the same few people answering
questions. We will ask questions about girls and what
makes a girl beautiful then change their mindset by
asking how they would feel if their little sister was exactly
how they described.
We hope to get an understanding of why and how boys
perceptions of girls are formed and, at the same time,
help them to realize how boys are negatively affecting
girls self-esteem.
We have not yet collected data, therefore we cannot
analyze it yet. With the data we collect, we will grouping
recurring answers and finding themes in the data.

esteem. After editing and talking with our mentor, our

topic switched to how boys negatively affect girls selfesteem based on their perception of girls and sexuality.
As we continue this project, our data and research will
continue to change and we cannot wait for the challenge.
The greatest challenges of our project thus far are
meeting deadlines and staying focused. We found
ourselves socializing more than working and we now
understand that we have to handle business first, then
we can play after.
