This article is pertinent because it is about the impact that El Paso has had after people
started emigrating from Ciudad Juarez when there was many violence, and it also talks
about the impact left in there too. This source will be used to provide an answer for one
of the questions that were proposed, which is why does immigration occur. This source is
important to the research as a whole because it not only talks about El Paso, but it talks
about Ciudad Juarez too, so examples can be provided of how both cities were affected
during that time period and how both cities are now.

This article is relevant because it talks about how the state of Texas was trying to control
immigration on its own, without orders from the government. This source ties into the
legal aspects of immigration specifically in Texas when Rick Perry was governor, and
what his plan of action was to prevent immigrants from crossing over illegally, so it will

be used to give information of how this state handled illegal immigration. This source is
useful to the research as a whole because it specifically talks about Texas, which means
that the city of El Paso must have complied with the ex-governors demands.

This article talks about the inequality of border rights in border cities, which the author
explains that this causes the immigration system to be unfair, and this is why it is a
relevant source. This source will be used to tie in why does immigration occur, what
policies have been enacted to allow it, and their effects, and why El Paso is linked to it.
This source is very important to the research as a whole because it mainly talks about the
principal reason of why immigration occurs, so it goes into more detail of how this can
have negative consequences and how the policies have caused the immigration system to
become unequal.

This article is relevant because it talks about policies that have been implemented in the
past to solve immigration issues and why border cities, El Paso mainly, are cities in

which immigration occurs often. This source will be used to provide examples of policies
that have been implemented to aid or prevent immigration, and examples of why El Paso
is a hot spot for immigration. This source is important to the research as a whole because
it provides answers to what is El Pasos connection to immigration, and what policies
have been implemented in order to allow or deny immigration.
The White House. (n.d.). Earned Citizenship. Retrieved October 18, 2015, from
https://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/immigration/earned-citizenship
This website explains in a simplified way President Obamas proposal for immigrants to
receive citizenship legally, even if they are illegal or if they are already legal residents
who want to become citizens, so this is why it is relevant. This source will be used to
explain how the President wants to fix the immigration system, and what impact it may
have if the plan is put into action. This source is useful to the research as a whole because
it talks about a proposal that may be implemented in the near future, and it will probably
cause a big impact on immigration.

This document shows statistics of the influx of immigrants that came to the United States
from 1820 to 2013 from many countries including Mexico, which is why it is relevant.
This source will be used to show if the number of immigrants that came to the United
States from Mexico increased during the time period in which there was violence in the
country. This source is important to the research as a whole because one will be able to
discuss if there really was an immigrant boom, or if the reality was exaggerated by

comparing the numbers of immigrants over the years and the year in which there was
violence in Mexico.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security. (2015, August 10). Definition of Terms. Retrieved
October 18, 2015 from: http://www.dhs.gov/definition-terms
This website talks about the Department of Homeland Securitys definitions of terms that
are related to immigration, which is why it is a relevant source. This source will be used
to write about how the U.S. Government defines what an immigrant is and how a person
becomes one, so the paper is based on this definition so it can pertain more to the topic.
This source is very important to the research as a whole because it answers the question
of what is the U.S. Governments definition of immigration, along with the definition of
immigrants.
