Transition: First of all, I would like to talk about how important a Computer Information Systems
Analyst (CIS) can be to the STEM field.
II.
Main Point 1: A Computer Information Systems Analyst (CIS) is the security for any
technological devices that would need protection against viruses or hackers.
A. Lets look into what skills and abilities a Computer Information Systems analysts are required to
protect technological devices.
1. According to (Bureau Of Labor Statistics 2014), having analytical skills is important because a
CIS analyst must be able to analyze problems and consider the best possible solution to solve
the problem.
2. Also, having a Decision making skill is important for a CIS analyst because they must make
decisions about how to allocate their companies resources to achieve certain goals.
3. Another important skill that is important for a CIS analyst is the ability to have communication
skills because they must be able to explain their work to top executives and give clear
instructions to their subordinates.
B. Of course, for a CIS analyst, you must have some sort of degree or experience in the work field
to achieve success.
1. Having a Bachelor's degree in computer or information science related field will have a great
impact on your success stated by the Bureau Of Labor Statistics 2014.
2. Having a minimum work experience can also be very useful to aiding you in your success
according to Bureau Of Labor Statistics 2014.
3. In The Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology October 2014, they have stated that
having the knowledge, experience, and a bachelor's degree can provide usefulness when
working as a computer information systems analyst.
C. The job outlook on Computer Information systems is growing at a decent rate.
1. As stated in the Bureau Of Labor Statistics 2014, Computer information systems analysts
employment is expected grow 15 percent from 2012 to 2022
2. The median pay is very generous for a Computer Information systems analyst which is at
$58.15 per hour, which would accumulate to $120,950 per year.
Transition: Now that weve touched on the importance of computer science, lets talk about the
fascinating career that is Aerospace engineering.
III.
Main Point 2: Aerospace Engineers build and develop aircraft and spacecraft, to help us view
and one day travel the edges of universe.
A. Lets briefly explore what skills and abilities are needed to become an aerospace engineer.
1. As stated in O*Net.com, the ability of having critical thinking and a good problem solving skill is
crucial in the field
2. The ability to experiment and research is a necessary skill, as well as being able to fully analyze
the data received from personal experiments or others experiments.
3. You will also need to be able to manage your time wisely, as project deadlines can be extremely

engineering.
C. The job outlook on aerospace engineering is quite slow.
1. According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the outlook from 2012 to 2022 its at 7%, slower
than average.
2. The median pay for the job is at 103,730 per year or roughly 50 dollars an hour.
3. Although the outlook seems to be slow, I believe otherwise, because of private companies like
Elon Musks SpaceX, in the journal of Engineering & Technology (October 1, 2015), Elon musk
talk about his vision of a multi-planet species thus starting the race for Mars and other planets
to habitable by humans.
Transition: Now that we have discussed computer information systems analysis and aerospace
engineering let's discuss the stem career of Limnology.
IV.
Main Point 3: Limnology consists of scientist that monitors and sustains the characteristics of
different water systems such as lakes, rivers, ponds, and other types of water sources.
A. Now I will briefly discuss the abilities that are necessary to become a Limnologist.
1. According to Association for the Science of Limnology and Oceanography 2015, a limnologist is
responsible for have good inductive and deductive reasoning.
2. Having the ability to understand computer literacy and to understand laboratory experiments are
crucial in the field.
3. Being organized and having communication skills as well as being able to present written
research are essential to the limnology field.
B. Like all careers there are educational requirements to take part the stem career of a
limnologist.
1. The limnologist are required to have a bachelor's degree in the science core department either
in biology or chemistry.
2. The education of the Limnologist should include science, english, and mathematics.
3. Also in order to obtain a limnology job there is a need of experience in the laboratory field which
can be received by volunteering in different aquatic science program.
C. Limnology jobs tend to be very limited, so the more educational background you have
the better the chances of getting the job.
1. There are no specific look out for limnology but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2014
the outlook there are different occupations that include are involved with limnology.
2. The outlook for these occupations in May 2007 was the median annual wage for zoologist,
biologist was $68,490.
3. Then there are those who the chemists who had the median wage of $63,490, although there a
different people who made more or less than the numbers presented.
V.
Main Point 4 : Laborer, craftsman and being Creative is a part of being an engineer, Civil
VI.
Conclusion
A. Today, we have discussed the different types of careers that are involved in STEM and the jobs
that pertain to them, without these jobs our society would not be as developed as it is now.
B. After learning the different types of career in the STEM field, you can now understand how
important the careers in STEM are important for us to strive for as it helps and develops new
technology or creates new research which will aid our society to grow and become more
advance.
