Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
This SST plan supports the idea of creating a learning environment tailored to all students. In this particular
plan, a student who is struggling with his basic multiplication facts is receiving an additional intervention. I
gathered data on this student on math assignments as well as three minute fact tests. This student scores
below the class average and when I analyzed why it all came back to basic fact errors. Following this I
compiled data on his scores to take to the Student Success Team. With the help of these team members we
created a plan. This plan has been in place for about two weeks. Thus far the student has been able to pass
each level of the Rocket Math on his first attempt.

Reflection on artifact:
Initially I was very pleased with Landons progress on the daily math practice. I was surprised to find that two
weeks into this intervention Landons score on a three minute timed probe dropped. He dropped by sixteen
facts. Around this same time I saw a slight plateau in Landons Rocket Math scores. Instead of passing a level
a day, it took two or three tries for Landon to pass a level.
I also was disappointed to see that this practice is not carrying over into his daily work. We have started a
chapter on division. Landon appears to understand the concept of multiplication and division being inverse
operations. Landon is still struggling with the multiplication facts, which leads to struggles with the division.
One strategy Id like to try is doing a round of Rocket Math just prior to taking a timed test. Id like to see if
this practice would carry over to the test. Another strategy I may decide to try is similar would be to do Rocket
Math at the beginning of math as opposed to the end. If Landon is successful in retaining the facts when he
has this practice I would continue this strategy to build his confidence and his daily success.
