Based on four basic premises
Humans are social beings and their basic motivation is to belong
All behavior has a purpose
Humans are decision-making organisms
Humans only perceive reality and this perception may be mistaken or biased

Curiosity and cooperation are key in the classroom
Only general standards should be used
Curiosity should govern what is taught
Standardized testing should be thrown out the window

All we can give another person is information
All long-lasting psychological problems are relationship problems
The problem relationship is always part of our present life
What happened in the past has everything to do with what we are today
We can only satisfy our needs by satisfying the pictures in our quality world
All we do is behave
All behavior is total behavior and is made up of four components: acting, thinking, feeling
and physiology
All total behavior is chosen

My Classroom
3 theorists who's ideas I would like to use in my own classroom are B. F. Skinner, Alfi
Kohn, and Thomas Gordon. Skinner because reward systems to condition students
is all I remember from school, Alfi because he believes the curiosity of the student
should fuel the education process, and Gordon because of his belief in relationships
and how to handle them. In my classroom I believe in using reward/discipline
systems and plan on having a set rule system for such instances. I also believe in
using my students interests to fuel the lessons, the students interests should be
what teachers use when making the lesson plans. Also, I do believe in the
relationships between students and teachers and parents and teachers. I want to
encourage relationships to occur between all groups.
