Writing Focus: Narratives with Descriptions

To write a title that introduces what the story will be about; To write a narrative as a series of logical events, organized into beginning, middle,

Music
-Create an imaginary classmate to focus attention on spatial awareness during partner dances, group work and resolving conflict.
-Identifying and demonstrating rhythmic notation, dynamics and melodic direction
-Participate in Athletic based activities where they will focus on sports day events linking to sportsmanship, team spirit, and competitive spirit.
-They will be encouraged to support their team and praise everyone for their efforts.
P.E.
-Alongside this they will discuss the ways their body changes during exercise.

-We will look at the artwork of Kandinsky and create drawings with pen, oil pastel and ink while listening to music as he did! This piece will also
introduce the elements of art focussing on colour and line.
The Arts
-The children will draw a pencil self-portrait and then use their imagination to create coloured patterns and pictures showing their imaginations.
-Creation of masks or puppets.
-Looking at specific author and illustrators and continue to work on locating books of personal interest and those that relate to self-expression.
-They will create their own sound effects for their drama piece.
-We will look at how stories can be brought to life using different methods such as mime/opera/puppets/Shadow Theatre/musicals and much
more.
Library
-Focus will be on how we can communicate using our language body movement and facial expressions.
-We will be creating a fun stage area where the children will get to perform their pieces of drama after we have prepared them.
-They will be choosing from the bunch of books of famous Fairy Tales that I have pulled but they will be able to adapt their words and how they
want to tell the story.
-Students will read, write and perform poetry
-Students will work with rhyming, phrasing and meaning in poetry
-Students will recognize and manipulate nouns, verbs and adjectives in poetry
EAL
-Students will read, analyze and make connections with narrative text
-Students will identify: characters, setting, sequence of events, problem and solution in narratives
-Students will write their own narrative text
