Reflections
Reflection on letter a lesson:
On Tuesday 6th of October 2015, I start to teach my first lesson. The lesson was about letter A. I
planned to the lesson and I think that I successfully teach them the lesson. I start the lesson by warm
up the class. I design various activities for all levels of learner.
I think that I did the teaching the sound of the letter successfully because the students at the end of the
lesson they were be able to pronounce correctly. I observe that students like to listen to the music and
the end of the lesson they were singing the sound of the letter A and they singing "apple" apple "a"
"a" "a". Moreover, Also, I did successfully giving the instructions for the students to do activities. My
instructions were clear because the students were understanding the activities well and they did them
well. I think the thing that I need to focus on it next time is just to bring one object and concentrate on
it that using two things because when I teach English for nonspeaking English students it difficult to
assimilate two new words on one time. Also, successfully I mange my time and achieved all my goals
on time. Additionally, I used the reward system to manage the classroom and I think it is useful to make
students control. Skinner emphasized that when you show an individual positive reinforcement, he\she
will react and show you positive behavior. Thus, the behavior will probability increases and occur again
(B.F. Skinner's Theory, 2015). That supported her strategy of using positive reward system and praising
students by saying motivation words. At the end of the day, I felt satisfied of my performance and I
was very impress of myself because I taught my students around 26 word in a one day for nonspeaking
English learner.

Reflection on colors lesson:

On Wednesday 7th of October 2015, I taught them the colors lesson. I create many activities to support
my learning outcomes. I displayed a video with song about the colours. The video aims to help children
identify the colours. After that I said that our lesson is about colours and I asked them about their
favourite colour. They were participate with me. I think it is an important to let children express their
feeling and experiences. According to Krashen the filter door will open for children and their
motivation to learn will increase if they feel safe, happy and confident. That support when the teacher
will give them an opportunity to speak and listen to them they will feel positive, safe and engage.
I started the activity by let children to find the colours around them by naming the colour. The students
were exiting and active to do that. Also this activity aim to develop students physical development and
let them be active. I think that I did the activity successfully. Then I bring for them the box with bolls
with different colours. I give them the instructions about the activity and they shows me the colour that
I said and I asked them to repeat the name of the colour together. I did that because I think that will
help nonspeaking English students to recognize the colours. Also, I observed that these two strategies
help them to know the colours. I believe that students were feeling fun and enjoy in this activity.

When I started with the differentiation activities. I think that I face difficulty in giving instructions.
Therefore, for the next time I want to make my instructions clear to help children to understand well. It
is interesting to notice that I create the activity for low students level, in this activity I faced
complication which is all other students want to paint, so I said when the three students will finish I will
choose the students who will know the colour of the smock, he/she will paint. On top of that, the
evaluation part in the future I want to make a worksheet instead of using the flashcard colours. At the
end of the day, I felt that I successfully manage the classroom, I design various activities to help students
to support students learning and I was happy because my MST gave me positive feedbacks about my
teaching. Also, I felt proud of myself because I taught my students all six colours in English which are
red, yellow, green, blue, orange and purple.

Reflection on number 3 lesson:

I taught my class the number 3 lesson. I started with warming up students. Then, I explain the lesson
after I made the quick review and doing the whole group activities. After that, immediately I let them
moved to their right group that depend on their level. Before that, I gave them the instructions of doing
activities. Finally, I evaluate them by giving worksheet.
When I started my lesson with warming up students by doing exercises which are following the video
to let them be active at the being of the lesson. I believe that doing physical activity for the children has
numerous advantages. It helps to get their minds ready and focussed on the lesson. It is will help them
to develop their gross and fine motors skills. I notice that students like doing exercises because they said
teacher we want to do that again. Therefore, if I will teach this lesson again, I will do the same strategy
that I used for the warm up. Additionally, I did activities for differentiation groups because I found doing
activities and let students work by themselves is very interesting and benefit. As Piaget said children
learn by doing to discover their world. He claimed that children build milestone in their minds through
their growth when they dealing with things and materials in classroom areas. Consequently, one of my
successful and wonderful activity that I would like to do it the same for the next time is the clay activity.
In this activity, students made three apples and create the form of the number 3 on the worksheet using
the clay to help them recognize the written number and produce objects in the amount of the given
number. I will do it again because this activity covers the two concepts which are the concrete when
they made three apples. The abstract when they created the number 3 on the form of the number.
However, there is something that really I would like to do it differently for the next time which is
improving my instructions for doing some of the activities. Because of, my observation on the students
when they did the activity, they were distracted and confused. Therefore, for the next time I will make
my instructions clear which can deliver the main idea of doing the activity. I will show them an example
of the activity such as display pictures or video. Moreover, there is something that I want to do it
differently is the high group activity. I think the activity of the worksheet with colouring the numbers 1,
2 and 3 from whole numbers was very simple because I notice that students finished quickly. Therefore,
in the future if I will not give them this activity but I will give them the one that can challenge their
cognitive ability.
Through my lesson, I think that successfully I achieved my learning outcomes on the time because when
I applied activities and evaluated the students they were able to recognize number 3, identify the written

Hamda Saghayir Echtibi H00272763

number and produce objects in the amount of the given number. Also, they were distinguished the
number 3 from other numbers and wrote number 3 as well as. It is interesting to notice, that I faced many
good surprise moments from the lesson. One of these moments was when I reinforced their work by
applying the positive reward system and praising them by saying motivation words, they response
positively and start to be quite, raise their hands to answer and avoid misbehaviour. On top of that, I
think using positive reinforcement could help the students to keep and continue that behaviour.
Moreover, I believe that using reward system is a good strategy to control childrens behaviour in the
classroom because childrens behaviour influence and formed through positive and negative
reinforcement.
I felt proud and satisfied of my performance in teaching this lesson because I successfully manage the
classroom, I give the students my effort to explain for them the lesson and I deliver the information in a
different way using positive learning strategies even if I weaknesses areas. I design various activities to
help students to support students learning. I think my lesson was a successful lesson because my students
participated and involve to my lesson. They did the activities and understand well the lesson when I
evaluate them as well.

Reflection on family member lesson:

On Wednesday 21st of October 2015, I taught my class family member lesson. In the beginning of the
class I displayed a five family fingers to warm up the students for the lesson. I let them song with me.
They were knowing the song because I turned on for them when they were playing on learning areas.
There is something that I want to do it for the next time which is when I started the lesson by introduce
for students the family members by bringing a small dinner table with chairs with labels. I told them that
on this table happy family sit. Then I asked them what you expect who sit in this table? I expect that
students will give me various answers but in Arabic. Then I said each family members names in English
and stick the names on chairs. Then I illustrated the pictures of family member at the PowerPoint. I let
students repeat the words with me, then I asked each students to say the words and the students who say
them without mistake I gave him\her a star in the reward system.
Moreover, I gave each of my students opportunity to tell us about their family members by asking them
what is your family members? All students were engage and excited to tell in front all in the classroom.
I think it is very important to let the students to share their experiences and give them a chance to speak
to help them feel engage, safe and comfortable. Therefore, in the future I will be sure to do it again.
There is something that I want to do it differently for the next time which is the family remember tree.
when I started to make a review for them, I lose my management because I used the family tree to review
the family members then I said that we will all together will post the family tree on the wall so all of them
were fitting to post it. For the next time I will let each child do her\his own family tree. I can manage that
by clapping my hand and saying all students went back to your places. Then I can choose the students
who quit and didnt do this misbehavior to post the tree with saying that we all be quite and listen to the
teacher as to remind them the rule.
I think I successfully done my lesson because my lesson was cover the main learning areas such as
cognitive, social, physical and language development. For the cognitive, the activity of flashcard family
member will help students to develop this area. The social development when I was creating the group

Hamda Saghayir Echtibi H00272763

work. The language development when I taught students the family members words will help them
develop this part. Also, I achieved all my aims on the time.
At the end of the day, I felt that I was good teacher and I used many strategies. I felt satisfying of myself
and I took the big responsibility of taking care of children. Also I achieve all my aims for the lesson plan.

Reflection on square shape lesson:

On Tuesday, 27th of October 2015, I taught my class the square shape lesson. I started with warming up
students. Then, I explain the lesson by showing them the picture of the square shape and doing the whole
group activities. After that, immediately I let them moved to their right group that depend on their level.
Before that, I gave them the instructions of doing activities. Finally, I evaluate them by giving worksheet.
If I will teach this lesson again, definitely there is something that I want to do it the same which is the
activity of using the napkin and yarn. In this activity, I gave my students instructions to do the activity.
I asked them what is the shape of the napkin. They said it is a square. I notice that they were following
my instructions. They used the length of yarn to measure each side of the napkin. They noticed that the
each side of the napkin are the same. I want to do this activity again because I observed students were
understand one feature of the square easily. I think that an important to engage children to recognize the
features in concrete concept and abstract concept. The concrete when they used the yarn to measure the
sides of squares. The abstract when they think about how to measure the side? And how many sides the
napkin has? Moreover, there is something that I want to do it again for the next time. Which is the
strategy that I used to give my instruction for different group activities because I observed that students
were doing activities without any distraction. Therefore, that helped me to have a smooth transition
between activities. I believe that giving instructions is an important part of each lesson. The good
direction can telling the students your expectations and helping you to manage the classroom behavior.
However, if I will teach the lesson again there is something that I want to do it differently which is the
improving the transition strategies. Because in this lesson when the time was for tidying up and moving
the children to the circle time carpet area, I used to clap my hands with saying lets tidy up our tables
as a strategy to help students move smoothly. Nonetheless, I notice that most children immediately start
to tidy up very quickly and some students didnt respond to me. However, some of the children did not
immediately stop talking or start to tidy up. Therefore, in the next time I will try to use effective
transitions strategies like singing the tidy up song. Moreover, the transition would have been managed
more effectively if I let the children know 5 minutes before that they would have to tidy up soon. I could
also praise those children who were trying to tidy up and doing such a good job of tidying up. I think
that using effective strategies to facilitate transition can help the teacher to minimize challenging
behavior.
I think that I achieved all my learning outcomes in the time through explaining the lesson, doing whole
group activities and differentiation activities. On top of that, I think that I achieved them successfully
because my students response was positive and they understood well. On the other hand, I face one
disappointing moment which is I forget to give my students the safety tips about using the Toothpick to
make the square shape. For the reason that, one of my students try to harm himself when he was trying

Hamda Saghayir Echtibi H00272763

to make the shape. Therefore, for the next time I will be more carefully with applying this kind of
activities in my classroom.
I felt proud and impress of myself because I did my best to help children understand and take an
advantage from the lesson. I think my lesson was a successful lesson because my lesson addresses and
integrates objectives for students learning, different learning activities and strategies to check students
understanding even if I have some weaknesses. Moreover, I think it was an effective lesson because I
Create space for student thinking and discussion. When I engage them to identify square shape in their
environment and talk why it is the square shape.
