WEEK 1

9/14/15- 3 Hours (7 PM-10PM)


Met with Amanda and Rob for the first time today. Shadowing their radio show from
7-10 PM. Nice people have a vision on what they want the radio station to become
in the future. Will be contacting them through email and text to follow up on
assignments that will be given to me.

WEEK 2
9/20/15- 3 hours (7 PM-10 PM)
Met with Amanda and Rob at their other radio station and show. Same type of show
on KRMA. Met with Amanda an hour prior to the show to discuss the sales packet.
Brainstorming on the pages needed to be included in package such as rates and
summary of radio station. Need to research statistics about internet radio to give
audience a reason to buy advertisements on KRMA.
9/21/15- 3 hours (7PM-10PM)
Meeting with Amanda and Rob today for their weekly Monday night show. Found
program software to create sales package. Starting to design it. Amanda needs me
to stop being symmetrical on first two pages. Will need to design pages about the
profit shares of the advertisement.
9/22/15- 3 hours (12 PM-3 PM)
Met my other boss Jack Kiser. Funny man and knows how to review writing in the
media. Will need to meet up with him more so I can grab more advice about the
sales packet. Gave me some opinions on what to say and the information that
should be included in the title page.
9/23/15- 3 hours (6 AM-9 AM)
Met with morning show host Shannon Steele for the first time. She is very friendly
and has a knack for social media. Describing to me that there should be a directory
created for all the KRMA employees contact information. I was willing to help her
out.
9/24/15- 3 hours (12 PM-3PM)
Visited Jack Kiser during his radio show. I asked him questions about my persuasive
messages about internet radio. Had plenty of mistakes to fix. Amanda met with us
later and was able to discuss further about the sales package. The design doesnt
seem professional. Will need to research more on sales packets online.
9/25/15- 2 hours (12PM-2PM)

Visited Jack during his show. Gave him the updated pages that needed to be fixed.
More small mistakes are made that need to be addressed. Got to know him more as
a person and share similar interests. Knew where Burton is located.

WEEK 3
9/28/15- 3 hours (7 PM-10 PM)
Visited Amanda and Rob at the station during their Monday show. She provided me
with a few examples other radio stations use as a selling tool for advertisements.
Designs were simple but had to figure out how to use a similar approach to the
design. Watched tutorial videos of the design software to get a better knowledge on
some of the tools in the program.
9/29/15- 3 hours (3 PM- 6 PM)
Met with Maggie and Allister for the first time during their radio show. Maggie gives
very good advice on what she wants in the sales package. Allister just goes with
the flow. I will be taking her advice about statistics of the radio station. Gave me
the contact person Bill to grab all the statistics.
9/30/15- 3 hours (3PM-6 PM)
Met with Maggie and Allister again today. I wanted to show her my drafts and the
updated information. Bill gave the statistics about the age range of listeners, how
many people use smart phones rather than laptops to listen to the radio shows. Not
many old individuals like to listen online but have to since its an internet station
only.
10/1/15- 9 hours (10 PM- 6 AM)
Was allowed to work at home today to work on the sales package. Been up since 10
pm. Had to go to Sheetz for coffee. The software programs shutting off on me for
no reason. Making the time go longer than it should. The design of the packet is
much improved. Trying to finish it before Jacks show so I can print it out for him.
10/2/15- 3 hours (12-2 PM)
Working at home today. Got responses from Amanda about the updated package. A
lot of simple mistakes were made on packet. Frustrated that I created so many
grammar errors. Decided that the lines in each section of the rate pages needed to
be erased because it would distract the prospects.

WEEK 4
10/5/15- 3 hours (7 PM-10 PM)
Visited Rob and Amanda today. Deleted the lines as noted by Amanda. The spacing
of the text boxes are uneven. Need to fic every page in order to get equal amount

of spacing. Did not know there was a grid system where I could even the text boxes
evenly. Wish I knew that a long time ago. At least Im learning more about the
software as I go.

10/6/15- 3 hours (3 PM- 6 PM)


Gave Maggie and Allister the updates sales packages and wanted their opinions.
Maggie wanted more pop on the sales packet. Thought of a few ideas already.
Maybe write some information in shapes by creating stars. Will address the thought
to Amanda to check if that is okay.

10/7/15- 5 hours (12 PM- 3 PM) (7 PM-9 PM)


Had a meeting with Amanda and Jack today. During the meeting we discussed how
the design needs to be recreated. Tweeted during Jacks show about show lineups.
The margins are off when saving it as a pdf. Very frustrating on my part that I didnt
look for the margins and if they coincided with pdf. Margins are way out of order.
Have to start from scratch. If I watch more tutorial videos, Ill have a better grasp of
setting up the documents.
10/8, 10/9/15- 6 hours (11 PM- 5AM)
Recreating the sales packet overnight again. Making sure all margins are correct
before starting any design. Sticking to some parts of the design but found new
ideas. Will create a picture grid with the radio hosts on the first page of the packet.
Will grab the viewers attention showing the faces of KRMA radio. Emailed it to
Amanda waiting for her response of the page so I can be finished with at least one
page.

WEEK 5
10/12/15- 5 hours (5 PM -10 PM)
Met with Amanda few hours prior to her Monday night show. Wanted to ask her
about a few suggestions about the pie chart page and all the prices of the
advertising packages. She told me to create an eye opening color scheme to grab
the prospects attention.

10/13/15- 5 hours (6 AM to 9 AM) (12-2 PM) (3 PM-5 PM)


Spent most of the day at the station. Woke up to visit Shannon on her morning
show. Then visited Jack during his show and Steve Jones. I visited Maggie and
Allister for a few hours. Everything is positive on the sales packet. The design looks
good to them.

10/15/15- 3 hours (12 PM-3 PM)


Went to see Jack Kiser. He wanted to know why there were messages deleted and
misplaced. Told him that others wanted to see other content in the packet such as
types of radio shows and contact information.
10/16/15- 3 hours (6 AM 9 AM)
Met with Shannon to talk about the flyers she needed to be created before we give
out the sales package. Needed to come up with different messages that werent
similar as the sales packet. Need to come up with persuasive messaging. Tweeted
during her live show.

WEEK 6
10/19/15- 5 hours (5 PM- 10 PM)
Needed to meet with Amanda about the sales packet. We discussed about the
difficulty with the resolution of the packet. Very grainy when its converted to pdf.
Need to create the resolution higher somehow. Met with one of their special guests
at Mikes place for dinner before the show started.
10/21/15- 5 hours (6 AM- 9 AM) (3 PM-5 PM)
Met with Shannon, Jack and Maggie during their shows today. Asking for their last
opinion about eh sales packet before it is completely finished. Gave Shannon the
first draft of the flyer. Loves the design the logo needs to be at higher resolution.
Tweeted today on the KRMA twitter.

10/22/15-5 hours (6 AM- 9 AM) (12 PM- 2PM)


Met with Shannon to work with her during her breaks on her show with the flyer.
Asked her which messages she prefers to be included in the flyer. Loved the
question being bold and big compared to the other texts. Met with Jack on his show
to review the grammar and other mistakes written in the flyer. Not as many, but
still needed to fix.

WEEK 7
10/26/15- 5 hours (6 AM-9AM) (5 PM-7 PM)
Finished the flyer over the weekend. Wanted to give to Shannon to check if the
Flyer was professional and if there were any other mistakes. Was able to get to
know her a little better personally. Wanted me to get ahold of another intern from
Akron that works here. Wants me to use social media branding for KRMA. Met with
Amanda later that night to discuss the sales packet being finalized. She talked to a

woman named Kathie Sykes, who is a marketing specialist. Will be meeting her for
lunch to discuss the sales packet.
10/28/15- 5 hours (12 PM- 3PM) (8 PM- 10 PM)
Met with Jack and Frank Stams today. Jack found more errors in the sales packet.
Wanted to rewrite the content introducing the commercial advertising rates. Found
out Frank doesnt want to sell because he does not have enough time to do so. Will
need to come up with other options for him to get advertisers for his show.

10/29/15 5 hours (12-1 PM) (1 PM-2 PM) (3 PM-6 PM)


Met with Kathie Sykes along with Amanda today. Kathie wanted to see how my
sales approach is by doing a mock sales pitch with her being the business prospect.
Learned a lot from her. Told me to keep practicing with sales pitches and marketing
messages. Met with Jack and Maggie to catch up with them.

WEEK 8
11/2/15- 3 hours (6 AM 9 AM)
I met with Shannon and delivered her the final flyer copy. She was thrilled and said
she would make copies for everyone in the station to give out to the public. The
messages came out better than expected.

11/3/15- 5 hours (12 PM- 5 PM)


Went to the library to ask for more guidance on the design program software Adobe
InDesign. I needed to place the files from Illustrator to InDesign. Went to meet with
Jack and discuss all the final preparations into printing out copies of the final sales
packet. Everything was set to print.

11/4/15- 5 hours (12 PM-2 PM) (3 PM-6 PM)


Finalized the sales packet and sent it to Amanda and Jack. Met with Amanda for
lunch in Tallmadge to discuss a list of prospects. Met with Maggie and Allister to
give them the full tutorial of the sales packet. Observed their radio show to see if I
should search for more advertising prospects.
11/5/15- 3 hours (6 AM- 9 AM)
Met with Shannon to discuss the prospects for her show and if she wanted to sell
advertising commercials. She was willing and asked her if she needed tips about
selling. Kathie sent me links to selling internet radio and the dos and donts of
sales pitching.

WEEK 9
11/16/15- 5 hours (12 PM- 2 PM) (3 PM-6 PM)
Met with Jack. Discussed high school football playoffs. Wanted to tell me that there
were t shirts made and gave me one. Met with Maggie and Allister to see what kind
of prospects they are looking for their show.

11/17/15- 5 hours (12 PM- 2 PM) (8 PM-11 PM)


Met with Randy to ask him if there were any specific car dealerships he would want
to target for his show. I guided him through the sales packet and answered
questions he asked. I walked through downtown Kent and gave Belleria Italian
Restaurant the flyers about KRMA. Drove to the Kent State Student Center to hand
out flyers and asked people if they were interested in an internship for the spring
semester.
11/19/15- 5 hours (12 PM- 2 PM) (8 PM- 11 PM)
Worked with Frank Stams. Ended up deciding he wants to sell. Needed to guide
him through the sales packet. Asked him if there were specific restaurants and
businesses. He wanted restaurants that were bar and grills.
11/20/15- 5 hours (12 PM- 2 PM) (3 PM- 6 PM)
Met with Jack during his show. He wanted to let me know I can use him as a
reference for anything. Found out Amanda was going on a cruise. Wont have the
chance to thank her for being one of my peers. Jack wanted me to tweet for Wills
show.

WEEK 10
11/24/15- 5 hours (6 AM-11 AM)
Met with Shannon in the morning to say goodbye. Asked her if there was anything
else she needed to help her out on anything during the week. Listened to her show
wrote suggestions for her to give to upcoming interns. Wrote suggestions with for
the whole radio station because there are improvements to be addressed. Met Will
for the first time today. New radio host need to guide him through the sales packet.

11/25/15 5 hours (9 AM 2 PM)


Met with Will to help him tweet for his show from 9-12. Met with Jack after to wish
him a Happy Thanksgiving. Told me the sales packets have been redesigned by

someone else because they owned better software. I dont know why the
information had to be changed but thats my opinion.
