If I was to be elected as Commissioner of Agriculture I would make sure

thatstudents know the good benefits of a career in agriculture. They need to be
informed ofreasons to having an agricultural career. The industry is growing rapidly
and is somethingthat will never decrease in size. (Jordan, 2009) It is also a way to
make good money andhelp your community, county, state, or even country out
agriculturally.
Agriculture is more than just marketing plants and livestock. Although it is the
mainaspect, there are many other careers in agriculture. Modern day agriculture
has two mainbranches: technology and social sciences. Those also branch off to
other branches whichmakes the field of agriculture seem to boom. (Smith, 2013)
Some states are not producingenough talented college graduates in the food and
agricultural sciences to fill highlyimportant roles in the business science and
environmental management. It is greatlyneeded.
Agriculture is a growing industry and is going to keep growing. We can not
dependon just a few farmers to produce the food we need today and are going to
need in thefuture. Agriculture has spread to be a worldwide industry. It is also the
largest industry inthe United States. (King, 2005) With the rapid growth in organic
and alternate foodmarkets, the small farms that furnished these products are
seeking to grow and needadequate representation. Therefore business and
marketing professionals will be in highdemand.
Pursuing a career in agriculture sometimes comes just natural and end the
long runends up with good benefits. Not all people who pursue a career in

agriculture have grownup being around or living on farms but the majority has.
(Adkins, 2006) A lot of people justlike to be around farming and the atmosphere it
creates. They arent scared of dirt and arewilling to work. Money is also good in the
careers of agriculture but you have to be willingto do hard work. People have built a
passion for agriculture and want to see it grow. Theyneed young students to pick
something in the agriculture path to help agriculture expand.
Students need to realize that a career in agriculture will really be helpful to
them andtheir own country in the long run. There are many jobs to pursue in the
field and it isnt justworking on a farm. (Hall) The agriculture industry is growing and
is going to need peoplewho are educated enough to help it expand. Money is good
but it isnt going to be easywork. We can not just depend on the farmers now to
grow and produce everything they aregoing to need help. They can not do it
themselves. So why not pursue a career inagriculture? I would.
