This source is in a book format and provides a solution to the onboarding process issues and layouts a complete plan for companies on what they should do with new employees before their time starts at the company. The book provides building blocks for which the process should develop on and then goes on to list the short and long term outcomes if done right. The source also describes the different types of employees and how each one has to be treated differently during the process in order to have success. Finally, a case study is presented in which the writer experiments using this onboarding process in different companies and writes about the outcomes. This source would be the basis of the solution in my report. Often, companies confuse onboarding with training. While training does have a role within the onboarding it doesnt represent the entire scope of the process. The article goes on to describe how to get the right balance in the workplace. This article gives me a main topic to bring up in the essay and a clarification that I will have to make. The article begins by first describing the importance of the onboarding process and how it has changed through the years. Many companies are beginning to hire more with the economy slowly building up and that means a lot more new employee onboarding processes. The companies want a smooth transition while making it quick at the same time. The article transitions into how many companies continue to ignore a solid process and therefore miss out on the benefits, which includes a more engaged workforce and higher production. A framework is then presented on how past companies have run their process and successes and failures they have had, This article will help me with the introduction of the issue in my report. I will be able to reference this article to state the importance of the onboarding process and why it cannot be ignore any longer.
