Bauer, Talya N. "Onboarding New Employees: Maximizing

Sucess." SHRM
Foundations Effective Practice Guidelines Series (2009): Print.
This source is in a book format and provides a solution to the
onboarding process issues and layouts a complete plan for companies
on what they should do with new employees before their time starts at
the company. The book provides building blocks for which the process
should develop on and then goes on to list the short and long term
outcomes if done right. The source also describes the different types of
employees and how each one has to be treated differently during the
process in order to have success. Finally, a case study is presented in
which the writer experiments using this onboarding process in different
companies and writes about the outcomes.
This source would be the basis of the solution in my report. The book
would provide evidence that their can be a solution to the problem and
that the solution can have a positive effect on the company.
Hogan, Maren. "How To Get Employee Onboarding Right." Forbes.
Forbes Magazine,
29 May 2015. Web.
The article describes the difference between onboarding and training
and makes sure the readers know there is a difference. The author
goes on to talk about when support and direction were not offered, the
inverse occurred, leading to unhappy and unproductive employees who
didnt make it much further than four months. Companies do not
understand that it is importance to have both to have an effective
transition. Employee onboarding is the design of what your employees
feel, see and hear after they have been hired. Often, companies
confuse onboarding with training. While training does have a role
within the onboarding it doesnt represent the entire scope of the
process. The article goes on to describe how to get the right balance
in the workplace.
This article gives me a main topic to bring up in the essay and a
clarification that I will have to make. The article supports a stronger
onboarding process but also having a balanced approached which the
report will discuss.
"New Hire Onboarding: An Overlooked Element in Sustaining
Successful Strategy

Execution." RootInc. Root Company, 16 Mar. 15. Web.

The article begins by first describing the importance of the onboarding
process and how it has changed through the years. Many companies
are beginning to hire more with the economy slowly building up and
that means a lot more new employee onboarding processes. The
companies want a smooth transition while making it quick at the same
time. The article transitions into how many companies continue to
ignore a solid process and therefore miss out on the benefits, which
includes a more engaged workforce and higher production. A
framework is then presented on how past companies have run their
process and successes and failures they have had,
This article will help me with the introduction of the issue in my report.
I will be able to reference this article to state the importance of the
onboarding process and why it cannot be ignore any longer.
