myLexia Setup Guide for Lexia Programs

This document explains how to setup and maintain myLexia.com with student and staff
accounts, class rosters, and other information. Setup must be completed prior to student
use of Lexia programs and educator access to myLexia.com for reports.

myLexia is Lexias website for educators. The results of student work in Lexia programs
are sent to myLexia via a secure connection, and educators can login to myLexia to
access reports.

Option A: myLexia Manual Data Entry


1. Login to myLexia.com as a user with District Admin or School Admin access. You
should have received a username (email address) and password in the confirmation
email.
2. Create Schools (if using in a District):
a. Click the Manage tab.
b. On the Schools list, click Create.
c. Type a School Name and click Create. Repeat these steps to create each school.
3. Create Staff accounts to allow educators to login to myLexia (to view reports) and
software login (to view demo mode):

In the Manage tab, click the Staff list.


Click Create.
Enter staff information. See Table 1 below.
Click Save and Add More Staff to add more users, or Save if you are finished.

Table 1: Staff Information

Username

The username to login to myLexia and student software teacher mode.


Must be the persons email address and must be unique.

Password

The password to login to myLexia and student software teacher mode.


Must be between 4-20 characters and contain only letters, numbers, and
common special characters.

School

If the user is associated with more than one school, just select one as
long as the user has District Admin, they will able to see everything.

Role

Teacher is generally sufficient for classroom teachers. These users can


create, manage, and view data for their classes. *
School Admin users can see and edit all classes and students in the
school.
District Admin users can see and edit all classes and students in the
district.
At all levels, read-only users can see reports but not edit any information.

A setting on the myLexia.com Settings tab > Site Info screen allows you to prevent
teachers from creating new student accounts.
4. Create Student accounts to allow login to the program:

In the Manage tab, click the Student list.


Click Create.
Enter student information. See Table 2.
Click Save and Add Another Student to add more students, or Save if you are
finished.

Username

Must be at least 4 characters and must be unique.

Password

Must be at least 4 characters.

Grade

Selecting (and maintaining) accurate grades for each student is very


important!

School

Assign a school for the student.

5. Create Classes (and add students and teachers to them):


a. In the Manage tab, click the Classes list.
b. Click Create.
c. Type a name for the class. Lexia recommends using a common convention for
class naming.
d. Select a school for this class from the drop-down menu (District Admins only).
e. Select a grade for this class from the drop-down menu.
f. Add Students by clicking the button. Use the search and filters to locate the
students. Make sure you click the Add to Selected Students button to add them to
the class list on the right. When you are finished, click Done.
g. Add Staff by clicking the button. Use the search and filters to locate the staff.
Make sure you click the Add to Selected Staff button to add them to the class list
on the right. When you are finished, click Done.
h. Click Save and Add Another Student to add more students, or Save if you are
finished.
6. Distribute user information to teachers and students.
a. Teachers: Orientation emails are sent to teachers after their accounts are
created. Note that the email notification setting must be on and your firewall must
be configured to accept emails.
b. Students: Rosters and login cards that include the students login username and
password can be printed on the Manage tab > Classes list.

Option B: Spreadsheet import


You can create and modify student accounts, teacher accounts, and class rosters in by
importing spreadsheet files in myLexia.com.

Option C: Automated Integration with Student Information Systems


Lexias Automated Import feature allows districts to automate the addition, modification,
and deletion of school, student, staff, and class data through the nightly processing of
CSV files on the mylexia.com web site. This feature ensures that Lexias data is
consistent with the data in your student information systems.
