ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed
during this field experience:
During my second field experience I have shown thorough to advanced development in the
Professional Competencies 1, 2, 4, 6, 11, 12. By speaking with teachers and being an active
member of the school community I was able to understand its culture and how the school met the
needs of the students. I cooperated with staff, teachers, and students on a daily basis and was able
to clearly and effectively communicate with all. I designed and implemented learning situations,
which I ensured were appropriate to the students concerned. I practiced my classroom
management skills when implementing these learning situations. I had many opportunities to reflect
on the competencies and consider ways in which I could develop them, and I engaged in reflection
on my development of the competencies through discussions with fellow student teachers,
individually through journaling, and through speaking with my cooperating teacher.
I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field
experience:
!
I feel that I need to improve my skills in competencies 9 and 10. Competency 9 addresses
cooperation with school staff, parents, partners in the community, and students. I feel that I was
able to cooperate with students and some school staff, however in my next practice I would like to
cooperate even more with the members of the school staff team and begin to build trusting and
respectful relationships with the parents. Competency 10 addresses cooperation with members of
the teaching team. I would like to work on cooperating in a way that I give useful and appropriate
contributions, as this year I felt like more of a bystander during discussions between teachers,
rather than an individual offering ideas and help.

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:

!
I will seek out opportunites to cooperate with a wide variety of people during my job this summer. I
will be working at a summer camp, so will be able to work with other staff, with parents, and with
certain members of the community. My position will require me to work in cooperation with these
various people in the planning, development, and implmentation of our summer program. I believe
this will be a helpful experience in preparing me for my next field experience in September, when I
will continue to work on this competency.
