Learning Activity
#3

Have students get together with all of the others who

are singing their part and do some group work with the
vowels. It may work better to separate them in the
room.
o Have the groups decide which vowels they
should be singing
o Each group practices singing and saying the
appropriate vowel sounds with the
corresponding actions, as previously discussed
in class.
Bring students back together and have them share
with the class which vowel sounds in their part. Offer
corrections if necessary.
Have each group demonstrate and teach the class how
to sing their part with proper vowel shapes. Then, have
the rest of the class learn and practice the proper
vowel shapes for each part.
Have all groups sing their parts together, layering, as
will be done at the concert.
Circulate among the groups during group work time and
provide direction, if needed.
Whatcha Gonna Call
Have students sing the piece from the beginning, with
accompaniment, at least once, singing solo parts as
whole groups
Focus on diction
o Draw the students attention to the consonants
and ensure that they understand that the vowel
sounds are still the priority.
o Have the students over exaggerate the
consonant sounds.
