STANDARDS:
PA 5.4.8.B Describe the foreign policy tools of diplomacy, economic aid, military aid, sanctions, and treaties.
PA 5.4.8.C Explain how common problems (e.g. natural disasters, ethnic conflict, environmental concerns) are addressed
by organizations and governments.
Content:
Students will be able to gather, at least, 5 of one resource in the "Crisis of Nations" game.
PRESENTATION:

Basics:
- The UN was created after World War II in order to prevent another such conflict
- General Assembly: main body of UN and meet yearly, members are given opportunity to
address the assembly and bring items to the attention of the board
- Security Council: 5 permanent members (China, US, UK, France, Russia), 10 rotating
members. Only permanent members have veto power.
Pros and Cons:
So far it has been proven effective
- There have been no major World Wars since
- Many international conflicts have been resolved
