Dear Secretary Kerry and Seeretary Johnson:
I write with icant concerns following last Friday's terrible tragedy in Paris, France. As you
‘well know, details are still coming in but reports that a Syrian refugee passport was found on or
near the body of one of the terrorists and that he had accessed France through Greece and the
European Union's refugee resettlement process are disturbing to say the least.
Based on these reports, I am writing to express my desire to see the program of resettling Syrian
refugees in the United States suspended immediately at the least until all the facts are known and
indefinitely if those facts show the ISIS militant exploited the refugee process to gain entry to
France. Further, I request a classified briefing on how your Departments are currently tracking
the 1,854 Syrian refugees who have been resettled in the United States since 2012.
Given the swift and steady rise of the Islamic State, coupled with growing, high profile attacks
around the world, the time is now to take this threat seriously. While I recognize that stopping
the flow of refugees will not stop the threat and I remain sympathetic to the terrible humanitarian
crisis that is occurring on the ground in Iraq and Syria, our primary obligation must be ensuring
the safety, security, and freedom of the American people.
Hoosiers are always the first to serve when called by their Nation. However, when they return
home to their families, they must not fear for their own safety. I look forward to a timely
response,
Sincerely,
ACKIE WALORSKI
