Reading Art Revision Reflection

Reading art and the Art of reading was personally my favorite revision and assignment.
For the assignment, we were told the directions to look at the famous painting, Music Lessons
and we had to write a story about what we saw was happening through the canvas. I love art, it is
my favorite hobby, and I usually find it easy to make some kind of story based on what I saw in
the famous artworks I see, yet for the original piece, I did write the story as clearly as it sounded
in my head so because of that reason, I chose this as one of my five revised and rewritten pieces.
In my revised paper, I especially like how I didnt include the part where Theo apparently hates
music and he left his mothers abandoned violin to write literature in the garden but instead I
wrote how he still loved literature yet he didnt hate music, writing down, Theo was not a music
guy, instead hes a genius when it comes to literature. His father always catches him writing
outside no matter the weather. He finds it so relaxing being out in tropical green. I also decided
to leave out the idea of their mothers death and how the abandoned violin was hers. I thought
that it was not like me to find a sad/bittersweet story in an artwork that is not sad at all based on
its visual appearance or the expressions on the peoples faces. Instead, I wrote how the woman
behind the young boy playing piano, was his mother instead of a servant (like how I mentioned
in my original paper), which automatically made me more satisfied with the painting and how I

looked at it from there on since it was more positive because of the new story I came up with.
Overall, I really liked doing a revised version of this paper because this assignment was so
creative and it was one of my favorites that we have done so far in the semester, so although my
original was not good in my opinion, I really enjoyed making this revision so I got the full
understanding and satisfaction from this kind of unique assignment.
