Making the Grade/Care about Effort Reflection

When reading the writing piece, Making the Grade by Kurt Wiesenfeld and writing one
of my original pieces, Care about Effort I realized that it is very important to remember this
assignment as I grow up. The piece by Wiesenfeld talked about those kinds of student who
instead of doing the work thats been given to them, they ask for extra credit, some desperate
because their scholarship to collages could be at major risk. I obviously agreed with him on this
subject and stated in my writing that hes making a very accurate claim because it is not fair for
those who do the work, it teaches the person slacking off nothing, and the society can be harmed
in a way because of their lack of work. I think its very important for myself and other students
going to high school, collage, or a university to remember this point that the author was trying to
make. I liked this assignment because of that important claim and I hope I will be able to
remember the reasons why slacking off in school work is the last thing I should do with my high
school career and eventually my future after. As for my writing piece, Care about Effort I think
I really understood what the author was trying to state and I got most of it on paper in my own
words yet it is not as organized and well thought out like Wiesenfelds piece. As the writing
standard, ELAGSE9-10W9 and Informational reading standard, ELAGSE9-10RI1 concludes, I
have quoted textual evidence from the nonfiction paper stating in my paper, Wiesenfeld also

mentions this point stating, Thats when the misfortunes of eroding academic standards
multiply. (After/if he or she graduates and gets a job.).
I personally dont think asking for extra credit is wrong but if the student does it assignment after
another because he/she didnt do their original work, then that would of course be wrong.
