Current State
For the 2013-2014 year Central Elementary was placed on the SINA
(School In Need of Assistance) list for math based on our Iowa
Assessment scores.
We had a list of must dos as a school for all teachers which included the
following:
- 90 minute block of math with one hour being uninterrupted
- Teacher collaboration for consistent grading at each grade level
- Weekly monitoring of students to assess which concepts students may
be struggling with
- Intervention groups for struggling students and enrichment for
advanced students
- Parent letters sent home before each chapter

Next Steps
We will continue to provide staff
training on implementing the Everyday
Math curriculum
We will be starting a teacher leadership
model to increase teacher collaboration.
Our goal is keep this trend going! If we
receive similar results next year we will
be taken off of the SINA list.
