Presidents Report November 2015

As my third year as President draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to recognise some of the significant
achievements that our club has made both on and off the field. None of this success would have been possible without the
important involvement of our committee, members, volunteers and sponsors.
This year Waverley Victory Football Club had a record number of children registered and we increased our team list to a total of 28
teams which included Saturday morning competition for the first time. We continued with the football skills Coerver running our
Saturday morning program for the 5-8 year olds.
For the first time in the clubs history we appointed technical directors Dieter and Ben who took on the roles of furthering
development and overseeing our volunteer coaches. Next season we will continue with our technical directors who will have
greater input into the running of on field and off field development.
This season we continued with our fundraising days. Our Bunnings BBQs, Mothers Day Pink Lady Finger Bun Day , Mothers Day
Raffle, Presentation Day Raffle and Silent Auctions proved once again to be hugely successful in raising much needed funds for the
club. . A big thank you to Simon and Sonja Cuce, Marie Gugliucciello, Vera Moretti and all our volunteers who gave up their time to
make these events a success.
Once again this year we were helped in the canteen by Milo Di Petta as our canteen manager, he was in the canteen training nights
and weekends. As well as helping out whenever help was needed. This year we employed staff for the running of the canteen which
eased pressure and enabled the canteen to open throughout the year which included opening four nights a week as well as
Saturday and Sunday to cater for all our members. We also introduced a couple of new food items including our famous
doughnuts which quickly became a hit and hugely sought after on cold days and nights. This was possible with the help and
guidance of Jim from Unlimited Foods.
This year we changed our playing strips from Errea to Kappa. For the first time we used sublimated playing tops which enabled us to
put more of our generous sponsors on our tops. We also introduced a girls strip which was a big hit.
This season saw improvements to the clubrooms. The carpet in the caf area was replaced with vinyl flooring, the interior of the
clubroom was painted and the outside of the pavilion also got a facelift. These small changes made a great difference to the overall
look and practicality of the clubrooms.
With the generous grant and support of the Bendigo Bank Pinewood, we were able to purchase a defibrillator machine and also
undertake training to our members. This was provided free and a number of parents and volunteers took part in the training and
information sessions.
It was a great season for all our teams and a special mention goes to our Masters Over 35s who won not only the league for season
2015 but went on the win the State Championship for 2015. This was a great effort and we congratulate them on this achievement.
Finally, we thank all our sponsors and congratulate all our committee, players, coaches, team managers, and volunteers for getting
through another year. Have a nice, relaxing break and we hope to see you all back next season fitter, refreshed and rejuvenated,
ready for bigger and better things.
Yours in Sport,
John Gugliucciello
