Introduction
Here at Connect, you are all taught to go with your
ideas and inspire each other to follow their ideas. Weve
been noticing within our first week here that this school
operates in an amazing way where this kind of learning
is actually possible and encouraged. We are very excited
to be a part of it and we have an idea that will help us
get to know you better, see how you write and think, and
also see what your ideas look like
We can use a brief time at beginning of class to
discuss the unit coming up and some of the things
students can expect as far as assessment, class
work, groups etc.

Reflections from
the lesson

- Allow students time to first think alone, then get up or

turn to a friend and share their experiences verbally and
brainstorm how they might respond (might help to talk it
out first)
- Time students with at least ten minutes of absolutely
silent and reflective writing time (responding in their
google docs)
Draw what their ideas look like
- Students will be given time once theyve finished
responding to their first journal post to visually represent
what their ideas look like
- These pictures will be used for a bulletin board display
in the hallway
Closure
Students will not be graded for this assignment, but it is
meant to give us a clear picture of their writing skills,
imagination, and who they are as people before we
delve into our economics unit.
