Veterans Day - November 11, 2015

by Doug Bridges
I spent a tour with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. That was a honeymoon compared to
what my dad did. He spent 19 straight months in Leyte and New Guinea with the
U.S. Army fighting the Japanese.....no R & R....straight through. He was under
General McArthur's command.

My dad, Merle Dean Bridges.

WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.

My dad is listed 4th from the top of this picture
(from Bartlesville, OK).

Today is Veterans Day.

I would ask you to join me in remembering all the brave American soldiers who
fought in the Wars, most of whom were 16-22 years old. And I would ask you to
remember two other Veterans whose country's leadership left them to die....
Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty...the unsung heroes of Benghazi. They were
former Navy Seals and CIA Security Contractors at the time they were trying to fight
off a ruthless mob who outnumbered them 100-1. They were told by our
government that "help was on the way" which was a lie. They died at the American
Embassy. In the aftermath, one of our highest officials asked "What difference does
it make? and joined other high ranking government officials in claiming that the
mob in Benghazi was incited by a video made in America.
Please let us not forget Benghazi and Woods and Doherty, two brave Veterans
who made the supreme sacrifice trying to defend their fellow countrymen.
